I suspect this comment will be far from ever reaching you, but this performance is absolutely singular. I have heard no other playings of the piece that bring to me such a full and serious emotion as this. It is overwhelming. I hear, realized wholly within the sounding of these notes, a most desperate and earnest prayer of love; as a child beseeching the return of a lost pet.
A beautiful performance of this dark and somber choral prelude by Bach. Your simple registrations are perfect for the Lenten season , always moving , pleading "Have mercy on me". Some interesting harmonies along the way, nice. Thanks for the interesting views of the church.. The red candles were stunning ! Paul, you have produced a nice video to go along with your intense feeling on the organ. Great work !
I often return to this piece as the last thing I listen to at night. It helps calm one for sleep and for the coming day. So feelingly yet simply executed.

Beautiful Paul! I like your simple and clean registration! Matches Psalm 51 quite well. I also appreciate it that you chose the "urfassung", i.e. without pedals and c.f. on another manual. This is what Bach intended, I think.
The score is the Urfassung. The way to play it is as often with baroque music just a guess. Although I like to hear this piece manualiter, as Paul does it beautifully, a version a 2 clav. e ped. could also be authentic. I recently tried it with the c.f. on the pedal with a 4' reed, also very nice.

The same counts for the Neumeister Collection, for example. Often played as manualiter pieces, while a diversity in playing manners is possible, as they often did in that time.
A very very nice tempo, Paul. And nice that you play it on one manual. The organ sounds fabulous, doesn't sound like it needs an expensive restoration ;)
