The words "I vow to thee my country" gave me goosebumps while remembering the promise made by Her Majesty (late) Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty (late) Queen Elizabeth II, has left us an exemplary legacy by living up to her promise on how to remain faithful to a vow and promise, to the very end of our lives. There are just a few (very few) world leaders who have gained my admiration and deep respect and our beloved late Queen Elizabeth II is one of them. The rest, they will never live upto the vow/ oath they declare at the time of assuming office. They utterly failed to understand and honour the sanctity and godliness of a vow/oath. Paul, thank you for dedicating your performance to the memory of Her Majesty (late) Queen Elizabeth II. She truely deserves such a grand honour.
What a contrast to the military bands so prevalent at the moment. It catches the mood of so many of us perfectly and it`s hard to believe that you had so few days to produce profundity of this quality Just pure talent! Many thanks
I am not a Royalist . But I have great respect for Queen Elizabeth . She is a personal hero to me. And when she died I felt I did not loose a Queen, but I lost a friend that inspired me in these ways 1. To live as good a Christian life as i should. Dear Elizabeth was truly a Christian 2 . To know the importance of duty 3. To build sensible bridges of understanding with people . 4. Although Dear Elizabeth was born into wealth and privilege. To know the fact that every one is important no matter who they are. 5. Despite the problems inheritance family. To remain strong and undisturbed by them. 6. To have special love for just one special person, and value that marriage. Asa non Royalist that was my Elizabeth . What a hero . Rest in peace fair Galadriel.
Lieber Paul, ich freue mich über diese feinfühlige Interpretation! Es muss nicht immer das Plenumspiel sein, was beeindruckt, ich liebe durchsichtige, wohlklingende Kompositionen. Vielen Dank!
Profoundly grateful for this from a 70yr old man; with memories of the day it was sung at Princess Diana's funeral 25 yrs ago. It suits Queen Elizabeth to a 'T'.
Truly just beautiful, our dear Queen Elizabeth served us to the end. Your rendition is a fitting tribute to a great Queen of our times. Thank you Paul ❤❤
You have captured the length and breadth of Her Majesty's reign, culminating in a moving rendition of the beloved THAXTED. So perfect for this very moment, and as always beautifully performed.
Very deep and a great emotion for the world,it is a great prayer...thanks for that... very good registtation too....the flute at the is wonderful....how to tell that oh yes magic....really I KNOW YOUR talent ..
Such a beautiful peaceful elegy ! The harmonies everchanging and growing create a most somber introduction, with two moods. I love these transitions leading into the main tune which is of course one of my all-time favorites. Paul, you have written an elegant and fitting tribute to the Queen, but also you have created a wonderful composition for the organ which can be used in various ways in church services. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world.
Thank you Paul. Very apt, dignified and thoughtful. Queen Elizabeth II was an extraordinary person by any standards and I was proud to have known her as my Queen. I had the honour of singing for her on a couple of occasions which she said she enjoyed. I hope she did and wasn’t just trying to be polite, but she may have, because she always spoke with honesty and couldn’t be bothered with pretence. This was a beautiful tribute and I had tears in my eyes. God Bless 🙏🕊✝️🕊🛐🕊🙏
Viel dank, Paul! This is a welcome and touching gesture for our Nation’s sorrow. Her Majesty would commend your efforts, too, I’m sure. She was saved by grace through her faith and is now in His presence in glory, clothed with immortality forever. God bless you.
Dear Paul, your Elegy is a very beautiful piece which inspires peace of mind. Also, this piece is very much in line with the live stream of HM Queen Elizabeth Lying-in-State at Westminster Hall which I am currently following by internet with great emotion. Congratulations, dear Paul, for this very nice composition.
How sweet the moonlight sleeps upon this bank! Here will we sit and let the sounds of music Creep in our ears: soft stillness and the night Become the touches of sweet harmony.
Paul what can one say you deserve a great big hug from all your fans -you know how to melt hearts- this work is so appropriate, emotional, musical, Elgar would be totally in agreement with these remarks. You have set the tone for the world's service for Queen Elizabeth. Bless you young friend.
@@PaulFey No thank you for posting! I love watching all your videos. I especially loved the concert that you played with Richard McVeigh that was totally amazing amazing! You are truly talented
The depth of emotion in this piece is quite moving. The progression of feelings from the quiet chords of the beginning to the tune of Thaxted, and then (of course!) a grand crescendo, and the hushed ending. You take the listener (and player) on a journey from darkness to light, from sadness to the joy of our heavenly home. Thank you, Paul, for giving us this gift at a difficult time!
This was absolutely phenomenal! Thaxted is my favorite hymn both to hear and perform, and your rendition gave me goosebumps and almost brought me to tears!
Paul Fey, I found you by random accident, but I love a well-played organ. This is just oxygen for me. Many thanks. Love this piece. Wish Queen Elizabeth could have heard it.
@@PaulFey I live in California, in Gold Rush country. Go on line and look up images of Sutter Creek and Amador City California. I live in Amador city, an original 1876 town of about 200.
Thanks Paul. I finally got around to watching this today because I was thinking about HM Elizabeth while watching the annual Remembrance Day ceremony in London and the BBC showed a montage of all the years she attended and laid a wreath at the cenotaph. I admire her years of service and duty very much. Your elegy is very moving. Full of emotion.
Hallo, lieber Paul.
Paul, this was an exquisite tribute to Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. This brought tears to my eyes. You truly are an incredible and very talented organist.
was enjoying the middle part of your performance just as the crescendo was starting and then i noticed your beautiful wooden friend on the keyboard 🐧🐧🐧🐧
That was outstanding Paul you have excelled again!!! That gave me actual tears in my eyes! I was wondering if you could do a series of videos on your channel where you go in detail, the process of writing a piece from getting the theme/ melody to harmonising it to writing the rest of the piece? I am sure myself and loads of others would find that very useful indeed and informative! Once again a huge well done and thank you to the best organist of your generation!!!!
Thank you so so much!! It’s an honor for me to be in the position to do these videos! I‘d love to do a video explaining the process, but there isn’t too much to say actually - I usually come up with a theme or idea when doing something completely different and write it down or voice-memo is quickly. When I sit down on the organ bench I think about a style I could incorporate the theme in (Fanfare, March, Toccata, etc.) and just try some ideas and stick with the one I like most. I‘m actually not really thinking about how to use the theme - it just „comes naturally“ when playing. This probably is not helpful at all, but just try to start using that idea and see what works and what doesn’t - don’t think about rules you‘ve learned, you can obey and fix them later once you got a solid idea what your piece should be like! That’s how I usually work, I hope this helps in some way - please feel free to ask further questions! 😀
Wonderful, Paul! It certainly expresses the melancholy and introspection of this enormous loss for us all. If you can believe it I actually just finished composing my own elegy on this same theme (I promise I’m not copying you😉). Great job!
