Orange County Florida Property Appraisers has map measuring tools as an overlay when you view properties. I used it for my own lawn when I first moved in. Maybe more counties have it. Great tutorial.
I'm totally doing this right now. We just bought a house and I'm a lawn care novice. Lucky for me, the previous owner kept an amazing lawn. Subscribed and binging your videos!
My recently purchased 1.2ac property has 25+ large trees so unfortunately can't use aerials. I used the survey map from the title/purchase. Already to scale. Had the mapper send over a PDF. Also mapped out the existing irrigation piping and spray coverage using a measuring wheel, triangulating points. Finished this week! Next step, add irrigation to fill in gaps. Then, tree thinning/removal. Lastly, seed. Maybe in a couple of years I'll have a lawn. :(
I never write in these places BUT just had to coz I think you are totally awesome. I have been following you just under a year and for the past almost 3 seasons have been attempting an "organic" lawn, kinda weird coz a lawn by nature is "organic"...anyway, I watched a hodge podge of your videos and finally came across the lawn care plan step by step and of course it was late fall. So I am so excited to start your program as I think it is going to really work on my lawn IF I could just get the snow to stay off my lawn. Beginning of April in New Hampshire and the snow is just about off. FINALLY, anyone who follows you can see you are pretty incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to lawn care and I am very sure if you had stayed in that St Pete's place you would have most definitely figured it out. And yes you are quite entertaining as well, makes me laugh, a lot. And also, thanks for helping me with all that fertilizer, whatever, math...I am terrible at math you have fixed that for me with my lawn. :)
Google Maps is a No-Go for me. Too many trees blocking the aerial view of my lawn. Feet in the grass with my 25-foot tape to measure the sections I have made is the only way. And I have taken on the challenge to Dominate in my hood since you are encouraging us to do so. Thanks for all the tips.
From the looks of the lawn at your new house, you could almost take a week or to off. But don't, thanx for your videos. I/m learning a lot!! And I'm an old guy. And yes, every time time you move there will be new, inexpensive, but necessary (to keep the piece) expenses! LC
L and my father his own the garage door company for 35 years spray all the rollers and hinges and all the parts that move on your garage door with WD-40 at least twice a year it specially living in Florida where there is salt and humidity in the air all the time it won't squeak as bad anymore
Can't wait to see a nice southern lawn done by you! I'm in texas, and it's hard to keep it going! You should do a video of how to keep the edges of your grass from turning brown after making an thick edge. I can't find a solution.
Several schools of thought here. Your plot map is available at the Tax Office so you can get a copy there, or, use a drone and take a still, or go old school and just draw the thing out. Either way, you're going to have to verify some measurements. From YEARS of walking golf courses, I can tell you that an average step is 3 feet so say if your area is 15 paces by 15 paces, that is 225 square yards. Multiply 225 by 9 (9 sq ft in a sq yd) and you get 2025 sq ft. Or 45 x 45 gives you 2025 sq ft (3 feet per pace, 3 feet in a yard). Like Alan says, you can't burn it out with too much product, (to some extent). Find the video on calibrating spreaders for different fert types. Now, that's some good math.
It's nice to see women are the same the world over . Your wife tries to help by unpacking boxes but just makes more work. Mine thinks she's being helpful by jet washing the patio but then throws the pressure washer in shed along with 50 feet of hose all unravelled . Then I have to tidy it up before I can get into the shed
Been watching some lawn-care on your channel, great tips for the DIY. Have to try the Miloganite because its available at a local big box store. In the past, I used a small amount of fertilizer to green-up existing grass without having it burn in dry weather. My neighbors tell me I'm crazy for improving rental property, its more about having a good looking yard compared to a neglected wasteland.
I got my soil test back this week. I am a little concerned my N-P-K are high. The N=54.39, P=62.87, & K= 77.67. The only thing that looks like it needs addressing is my pH because it was 5.52. The only other thing low was B at 0.11. Do I need to do anything but throw down some lime?
Go figure. I put down my starter fert. and PreE this weekend because the forecast looked good and then this Wednesday and Thursday we got a combined 4.3" of rain. What are the chances that most of it washed away? Should I reapply the PreE? I'll probably go ahead and throw down some milorganite this weekend anyway.
Man, I wish it was this simple for me to get the measurements of my lawn. Because my house is a new-build, the aerial view simply shows the lot...without the house.
Hey LCN you need to get some T-shirts made for us to buy. Make a green one with the LCN logo and a darker green one that says DOMINATE on it. I'd buy one!
Help Mr. Nut. I got some prodiamine and it's time to get it down. Went to home depot but the sprayers don't list the mesh size for the screen. Which sprayer has a 50 mesh screen? Which sprayer will do my prodiamine granules? Thanks.
Hey Allyn, here in NJ on 4/2 I applied 1 lbs of N via half Lesco starter fert and half Ringer. Now on 4/16 how should I apply the Milo and Lesco pre emergent that has 19% fert?
"then you realize it wasn't as big as you thought" TWSS. Nice house and lawn Mr. Hane! Time to go to the Depot, use that Air Force Veteran discount and buy 4 bags of milo to cover the 10k square feet ;) Don't forget your double pass over the domination line.
I need help. i am new to this house and i have Bermuda grass, i put pre-emergent in January the last time but i see lots of weeds in my grass and two weeks ago I put the fertilizer you use down. i would like to send you pics and see if you can could help. i just don't know where i could send you those pics. any help would be greatly appreciate i am in Mississippi just so you have a reference on the weather thanks Rod
Video is outdated to be honest. Google Earth has a mapping tool. Just put you address in and click the ruler icon and you can trace around your yard. It's VERY accurate. You can measure custom sections too if you're overseeding in one area and want to put pre-emergant in the remainder for example.
Allyn, your lawn looks great. I am trying to dominate my neighbors esp the neighbor across the street. The soil in Central Texas is mostly clay (alkaline). Last year I had a professional lab test my soil (8.0) I core aerated and amended the soil with compost and peat. This year my lawn looks better. Can you recommend a good PH tester that I could purchase to monitor my soil PH. Thanks
Okay. I have always hand measured my lawn. I just began to use your app and your lawn care products. My lawn is broken down into sections. I notice that the numbers given on the app are lower than my measurements. There doesn't seem to be a method of doing an 'edit' on the app (I can edit the words I used for each section but not the square footage). Maybe I'm missing something. Any help?
all those people that say just go on the net or the real estate office and figure it out faster lol your missing the point of the video getting envoled with your lawn and making it yours in a personal way enjoying it in the process is what it's about and dont forget to dominate
Hello Mr. LCN! I had a quick question. I live in Ohio and have just put down seed, starter fert and a bag of milorganite just for a little extra kick. That was last week which might be slightly early. I decided to do it then because we've had warmer than average temperatures. Any way my question is that if I purchase my crabgrass preventative now, can it "expire" if it just sits in my garage until May? The reason I would buy it so early is because I have trouble finding it in local stores, so when I find it, I like to get it before its gone. Hopefully that makes sense! Thanks for all the great videos and good luck with your new lawn! ( I posted this same comment on your previous video and i'm not sure if you saw it because of the crazy amount of comments! If you see this and have a chance to reply, I'd really appreciate it. I suppose I can just "Google it" but I'd rather get a answer from The Lawn Care Nut! Thanks )
Great videos you make. Question, I'm want to oversees my lawn but afraid I might end up with weeds from the seeds. Is that something I might get with Scott's Bermuda grass seeds?
Kelby Menjivar i think you will. I overseeded with Scott's ezseed Bermuda although I've had a lot of growth a long with it came dollar weed...lots of it. I think I'm just going to let it all grow out in the bare spots and the figure out what to do next.
I have a squirrel problem, they keep digging up my entire lawn. I tried multiple chemicals with specific scent, but no luck. Have you ever run across similar problem? Please help!!
Google says a average pace is 30 inches long. I remember my uncle pacing off the farm fields. He would take extra long steps, saying there were 36 inches long. Easier to do the math.
hey Allen unfortunately Lesco Starter Fertilizer 18-24-12 is not sold in south Florida and unable to get delivered due to chemical per home depot. Is Lesco Turf fertilizer 16-4-8 just as good. being that the Nitrogen level is just as good. PLEASE HELP. oh an the other option i have 26-2-11 lesco turf fertilizer both contain iron
You can't just stripe, and not make a lawn striping video! It's been a long time since we've watched a striping video from you man, can't wait for them to start coming out! :)

Your enthusiasm over the lawn stripes at the beginning was amazing! Such things are never appreciated like they should be!
for sure!

great tip thanks!

I still can't believe you only have 75000 following.
I guess we're the lucky ones.
so many more people could learn from your wisdom.
thank you!
I got my first mow of the year in today before it rained again. Let the domination begin!
the time is here!
love the help you give us, my front yard is 36,000 sqft, back yard that I cut is 35,000, with another acre behind that of field Grass.
that's a nice sized patch!
Haha I love the reggae Jams! I own a lawncare service and sure enjoy yoir videos! Keep them coming!
HOW DOES IT LOOK? DOES IT LOOK GREAT? HILARIOUS!!!!
Bathroom pillows, ROTFL! This made me smile...I didn't know there are such a thing!
Brosky. time to do a 2020 video on property mapping with new tools available and update with what the garage looks like now in 2020 with the rider

great video LCN loved the bubble wrap poppin! that lawns greened up nicely since the last vid. :)
no fert yet either!
Congrats on the new home! Super nice and that lawn looks great. Excited to see the videos to come.
Google Maps is a No-Go for me. Too many trees blocking the aerial view of my lawn. Feet in the grass with my 25-foot tape to measure the sections I have made is the only way. And I have taken on the challenge to Dominate in my hood since you are encouraging us to do so. Thanks for all the tips.
you are so lucky your new house got a beautiful lawn already.
From the looks of the lawn at your new house, you could almost take a week or to off. But don't, thanx for your videos. I/m learning a lot!! And I'm an old guy. And yes, every time time you move there will be new, inexpensive, but necessary (to keep the piece) expenses! LC
I hope I never have to take week off from the lawn! :)
You got lot of stress because of all the road approaches looking at your lawn. I used map developers too. I just wish the rain would stop.
L and my father his own the garage door company for 35 years spray all the rollers and hinges and all the parts that move on your garage door with WD-40 at least twice a year it specially living in Florida where there is salt and humidity in the air all the time it won't squeak as bad anymore

Stripes looking good. That Florida sun is treating you well brotha, you're the lean LCN now.
thanks for noticing - I'm about 12 pounds down since Jan 1
Thanks for posting Allyn
That reggae part is exactly why I love your videos. Oh, and the lawn tips are cool too. ;)
I love your new place and enjoy the lawn stripping tips, look forward to watching the gator.
I like that your garage has windows 👍🏽
I am in sixth grade and we are learning about triangular areas right now, LOL. nice video.
math is so important! Chemistry too!!
congrats on the new place. looks beautiful!

good point
davinci team love is grand. divorce is 10 grand
great video, nice home, the lawn looks good.

I couldn't figure out the map website it didnt let me look at my yard like you did any advice would be greatly appreciated man
If I spray weed killer for weeds sprouting out from mulch, will it kill my trees planted in that same landscaping?

Measure the lot size, measure perimeter of your house and subtract? Or for your appraisal you should have gotten square footage.
The shades! Are they gargoyle? and what model please!
2:40 same Lenox box knife from the original Domination video! (sorry, I'm a tool nut too!)
good catch!! same blade too lol
Thanks.
What do you do if you have a wooded lot with lots of trees and cant use the aerial photo?
Hey Allyn, here in NJ on 4/2 I applied 1 lbs of N via half Lesco starter fert and half Ringer. Now on 4/16 how should I apply the Milo and Lesco pre emergent that has 19% fert?
What do you do for mossy yards like in the Great northwest area such as Washington state
"then you realize it wasn't as big as you thought" TWSS. Nice house and lawn Mr. Hane! Time to go to the Depot, use that Air Force Veteran discount and buy 4 bags of milo to cover the 10k square feet ;) Don't forget your double pass over the domination line.
sounds like a party
where did you get your push mower? all the ones I find around here (kentucky) only go up to about 3inch cut height
I'm just wondering what precautions you have to take because of the lake? any fish or other wildlife?
Ya, too much Milorganite and that gator may mutate into Croczilla!
Nice Audi Hayne!! BALLER!
ha ha, it's a base model A3. Cheaper than a toyota :)
the stripes! sooo nice!
Basically doing pacing like in military land navigation.
I need help. i am new to this house and i have Bermuda grass, i put pre-emergent in January the last time but i see lots of weeds in my grass and two weeks ago I put the fertilizer you use down. i would like to send you pics and see if you can could help. i just don't know where i could send you those pics.

Interesting the sidewalk doesn't go all the way around your property? Any idea why not?
no clue - it's like that with a few different houses around here

oh yeaa...striping the St. Augustine lawn. They said it can not be done..yes it can!!
Dude i see you got Hibiscus all over! wish we could grow those up here in Seattle :(
The neighborhood looks exactly like some of the neighborhoods I mow in.
Glad things are going well for the LCN squad. Will there be any mowing videos soon?
yes for sure!
Stripes are looking great! Steel Pulse is a great reggae band too. Ya mon
yes I saw them live at Janus many years ago
Where is this place? Looked awesome
Buying new soap dispensers and shower curtains! That killed me. Preach it, brother!
what was wrong with the old ones!!???
can I overseed st Augustine grass by bermuda
Allyn- can I use Milorgaite and then do an app for Ringer thereafter?
sure just be careful that overall N doesn't exceed much more than 3/4LB/1000 SF
Allyn, your lawn looks great. I am trying to dominate my neighbors esp the neighbor across the street. The soil in Central Texas is mostly clay (alkaline). Which song was playing at the very beginning it's awesome
it is linked in the description - it's from no copyright sounds

9 to the front and 6 to the rear, that's the way to do it here
LCN, do you have any thoughts on the Honda motor vs Briggs ? I learned a lot from your videos. Thanks.
Were you intending on giving out the address of your new place?
short cut...get it?
Great videos you make. Question, I'm want to oversees my lawn but afraid I might end up with weeds from the seeds. Is that something I might get with Scott's Bermuda grass seeds?

Please do a Magnum PI mo.
LCN, you need to come up with a nickname for the gator.
The best music you ever play is Fleetwood Mac. :)
I agree with that
No WWF music on Wrestlemania Day?
10,000 is the square footage of the lawn. It doesn't include the area of the house, driveway, pool, etc.
I have a squirrel problem, they keep digging up my entire lawn. I tried multiple chemicals with specific scent, but no luck.
Have you ever run across similar problem?

is Columbia a sponsor of yours? I watched alot of your videos and you most all the time have on a Columbia shirt. Just curious. Great channel
hey Allen unfortunately Lesco Starter Fertilizer 18-24-12 is not sold in south Florida and unable to get delivered due to chemical per home depot. Is Lesco Turf fertilizer 16-4-8 just as good. being that the Nitrogen level is just as good. PLEASE HELP. oh an the other option i have 26-2-11 lesco turf fertilizer both contain iron
see if you can find the 10-10-10 general purpose fert they have at FL HD stores. otherwise the 16-4-8 is fine
The Lawn Care Nut thanks man, didnt think i was going to get a response.
You can't just stripe, and not make a lawn striping video! It's been a long time since we've watched a striping video from you man, can't wait for them to start coming out! :)
I love your channel
Next time you do bubble wrap popping, back the background lighting pass like two days have gone by
what is the best way to take care of dollar weeds
Bro this ain't Custom Grow420 channel here ya know? :)
Lol but for real my back yard has a large patch about 10'x20' that is nothing but dollar weeds. I had a guy tell me I'd have rip it up and re sod
if the area is 100% weeds then that is the best course of action for sure.
is there an herbicide I can use that won't damage the grass that is there
I'm going to be overseeing my lawn, I'm in Massachusetts. which brand seed do you recommend ?
Seed Super Store online - tell Drew I sent you! he's a good guy.
wait... did you move again?
No the beard died!!! Great video as always.
Hey LCN - Great vid!
I live in Palatine, IL and recently laid down my first fert of the season and then we had 2 - 3 inches of rain hit us the following day. Should I re-apply that first fert since it was probably washed away or should I chalk it up to a lost cause and wait to my next feeding in late April/ early May?
give it a few weeks - it may not have all washed out.
Thank you for the quick reply.
Gracias amigo, muy bueno e instructivo tu vídeo.
Great video
Mines 17,600 sqft would it be reasonable to round up to 20,000 or is that too much to round for prodiamine
I would round to 17,500 and call it good.
2 more questions, for the hybrid lawn plan is it recommended to put the milo down the same day as the pre emergent or should I wait until soil temps warm up above 55, and do you need to change the spreader based on pounds on the ground or is it the same through out the whole year?@@TheLawnCareNut
th-cam.com/video/hvx8GGW0KqA/w-d-xo.html ok to apply same day when temps hit 55f soil for cool season lawns.
Great information
I like the long vids
