I watched this video along with copious amounts of research in 2016 before I bought mine. 23k miles later and I'm still not sorry. Its my 1 bike for near daily commuting, its hauled everything from groceries to camping gear. Rain, snow sun and ice. Crashed it, sprayed it, modded it thrashed it. Mpg between 36 lowest and 65 best. 50 avg. Its everything Rod says. Its for riders who have nothing to prove but still want a workhorse/warhorse.
Ahead of it's time when it came out, over in the UK people didn't get the styling, but in Europe, it sold like hot cakes. The UK bikers still take the piss out of this bike.
I've just oaseed my test. I'm an older, responsible man who isn't too bothered about bags of speed but something thats practical, comfortable and reliable. I've seen a few within my meager budget. Would you say this would be OK as a first "big bike"?
Better bikes available for noob such as cbr600 , but tdm isn't bad and apart from needing a few revs to avoid that lumpy feeling and once in a blue moon stall in heavy traffic its easy to ride
As an owner I'd like to tell anyone thinking of buying the bad points . Very poor headlight Front wheel 18" and tyre choice limited and runs a little wide when pushing hard . Engine can stall when hot in town Fairing flimsy That said its a good bike
Update! Took my tdm900 back to brands hatch 9 years after my last outing which broke me and my sv650 and had a great and safe (be it slow day against the 600s and 1000s) 8)
@@matthammond1797 sorry to hear that, I regret selling mine and replacing it with a v2 tuono just to be uncomfortable and go fast 😅 which I later sold also. Tdm is a great all around bike smooth like butter and with great torque
My first yamaha in 30 years. Just purchased a 38k 2003 900 for £1695 with 12 months MOT and 1 month warranty. Test ride was interesting and condition was above average. Bargain.

I'm 5'10 with regular (32) leg. Reckon this would be a decent fit? Love the looks of the bike but want something I can flat foot really. Cheers
5 10 you will be fine to flat foot easily
@@rolfenmonster yes I'm 5.10 and had no problem, the bike is phenomenal I regret selling mine

Sold my tdm today, a very sad day but simply not enough use. Damn it never let me down and I'm sad my riding days are over 😞

Nice review, how tall is Mr Gibson? He makes a big bike look small.
6ft 2 inches tall
Great Bike
1:03 Why do motorcycle frames always have a weld across them there?
Because it's likely the easiest way to setup tooling for mass production of an ally part
11/2021 anyone?
