  • In todays video Russ is going to show you how CIS fuel injection works! This system is very reliable, predictable and simple to repair if you know how it works.

Your very welcome, it was just a skim over the operation of cis. There is so much more on the later versions. Thanks for watching!

This is really interesting, thanks for sharing you knowledge. I have an '83 Ferrari 512 BBi that has CIS, so it's nice to learn how this works.

Great video, brings to light the mysteries in these systems. I'm tackling the 1979 Porsche 928 system very soon, and might reach out for some help -- maybe send you the system and have you check it out to make sure the package is ok and such.

The earlier cast iron top fuel distributor was replaced with an aluminum distributor with the KE system.

Worked on MANY VWs with Bosch Jertonic with the injectors directly in the head. Spraying on the back of the intake valves. Very efficient system with 40+ miles per gallon.
Very reliable systems, almost 100% mechanical. Needle bearing supported throttle bodies. As long as there is enough fuel pressure, the system will run.

Yeah, they were so highly engineered, and so reliable. Crud in the fuel is the only thing that can hurt it.

Thank you, great video. I have 86 Mercedes 560SL with the KE, so EHA valve O2 sensor. I'm struggling with trying to get smoth idle.

I've seen the EHA fail and cause loss of acceleration enrichment. If you pull up the carpet and the plastic floorboard, the o2 sensor wire is there. Disconnect it and see if your idle comes back to normal. Yo may not have to remove the plastic piece, I don't remember. It's the green wire with a little boot on it.

Own 83 audi quattro and coupe gt. Time for new poly lines. They don't last forever. The ferules are rusty. Fire time? Who makes them or who sells the poly? NYC area.

There are companies that sell all of those fittings and polymid hose in bulk. You can make your own. There is an inexpensive tool used to push the line onto the fitting.
That is one bad ass car you have there. On of my all time favorites. I'll try to find the company and send you the link.
