Making a power increase in a Hatsan Galatian by exhaust valve spring adjustment 02 02 17

  • As you will see. Adjusting the exhaust valve spring will definitely increase the power of the Hatsan Galatian after the installation of a regulator. In the end it wasn't enough for me, but is a worth while fine tune to gain an extra 0.6 to 1.00 foot pounds energy. The problem with installing the Altaros regulator in a Hatsan is that is lowers the power by around 2 foot pounds to what it was before the installation. The easiest way is to adjust the hammer spring, or increase the transfer port, of which both are hard to get to, due to anti tamper restrictions, even though these are not the law. It's your responsibility to make sure that any changes that you make to your rifle does not send it over the legal limit for your Country, so a chronograph is essential.

    Hello. or find harder springs for HATSAN BT-65 elite? Thank you

    Heavier hammer and / or hammer spring and higher regulator pressure. The valve spring pressure is trivial compared to the air pressure on the valve. More valve lift could also benefit.

    Any idea about how to put in a regulator to adjust the pressure upwards aswell as downwards? Sometimes the hogh pressure doesn't really helps when doing certain shootings. Thanks.

    the transfer port is what you see at 6min20? for a 4,5mm do you know if it is necessary to drill a 4mm? Thank you

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends what your local laws are. If you live in the US then you can drill out the transfer port to make it more efficient. I think 4mm could be too much for a .177, but OK for a .22. Drilling a .22 transfer port out to 3mm with give you around 28 ft/lbs with your hammer spring wound right down to the lowest setting. For .177 i would start at 2 or 2.5 mm and see what you get. If you go too far with it, it may have an opposite effect. If you go to Lane Regulators website, he has put some information on transfer port sizes and different calibres of pellets. You can probably get a good idea with that. He has a lot on his TH-cam pages for tuning. Remember if you do it drill it too far in the first place, you can't go back, so do it in increments and run it over a chronograph afterwards.

    an option may be to lengthen the valve stem mark, it opens rge valve a little further... just a thouht mate

    What lube did you use for the valve?

    Did you intentionally leave the plenum/spacer off to deregulate?

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it allows the regulator to vent to atmosphere. Rifles without removable cylinders need a small hole drilling in the cylinder. These regulators come with two 0-rings and the hole in the cylinder will be between the two 0-rings. Most HUMA and Altaros regulators are designed for removable cylinder models. Robert Lane designs them for either. If you see a reg with either one or two 0-rings you now know why.

    Hello consult I have put regulator robert lane at 130 bar to my galatian
    But comes out very low to the shot at 250 fps
    I want it in approx 800fps changed the spring for another softer will be the solution?

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can increase the tension on the hammer spring it would put the power up. They also recommend opening up the size of the transfer port. The problem in the UK is that they all come fitted with anti tamper, even though it isn't a legal requirement, it was a thing that all the manufacturers over here agreed to do. For sub 12ft/lb rifles the regulators are normally set at between and 90 and 100 bar, but for full power it would be on the 130 bar that you are at.

      Yes increasing the hammer spring pressure is the way to go. You can also increase the size of he transfer port as well. Good luck.

    U need to put a weaker spring if u want more power and a heavier for more efficiency

    • @TheKimjoh560
      @TheKimjoh560 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You are absolutely right, this makes no sense. But even so, the power of the valvespring is largely irrelevant compared to the 200 bars of pressure that resets the valve after each shot. It would make alot more sense to get a stronger hammer spring or to adjust the preload of the curremt spring. I think this guy is experimenting without fully understanding how these guns work. But we all have to start somewhere.

      Not with a regulator. The regulator has an oring which pushes against the valve. This is so the regulator can vent.

    so if I understand correctly, the regulator is losing a little power but there is a better consistency of shots. and if we want to recover this loss of power we must put a spring harder! Can you tell me if these springs are ok?!. thank you in advance

      You maybe able to buy a stronger spring to fit, but i have the same box of springs as shown in your link, and none of those would be strong enough. If you can't find a suitable spring it is recommended to pack out the existing spring with small washers, which is what i had to do. Robert Lane of Lane regulators could probably help with the correct spring, as i have heard comments from people in the past that have gone this route.

      @@airgunsniper-elite7385 oh yes, washers to harden the Spring is not stupid, as I did to harden the dumpvalve of my Focus RS mk2! in your opinion, we put the washers then the spring where the reverse?

    I don't get it. Do the Police come check your guns? How would they know? Do they have a chronograph on them? I don't get the worry. 520 FPS is slow and why only 12ftlbs. Your going to go on a rampage with an airgun.

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In the UK they are very anti gun, and air rifles are classed the same as a .308 rifle once they go above the 12 ft/lbs limit. Then you are treated like a criminal even if it doesn't go over by much. Most rifles leave the factory at around 10.5 ft/lbs to allow for the heavier pellet making it close to 12 ft/lbs. If the police happen to stop you and belive it to be over the limit they are in there rights to take it away to be tested, so that's why we have to be carefull. Yes it is petty, but that is how guns are treated in the UK, even airguns are treated as firearms. It's not worth the trouble, but if you have a shooting permission on land that has been approved, or go to a home office approved firearm club, then you can apply for a section 1 firearm certificate, which is a lot of hassle for most shooters.

      UK airgun laws are 12 ft/lbs so that after the thuggish government floods the nation with hostile Arabs and Africans, give the invaders real firearms ("oops, we accidentally lost 500k consficated firearms!") , the native whites cannot fight back. It's really terrible, but true. Brits have to start ignoring evil laws.

      The tech has come a long ways very fast. My .25 invader is shooting 38 fpe and I'm pretty confident i could kill an adult with it, and this is the absolute bear minimum power for a .25, hatsan blitz is 50+ fpe with a insane fire rate, like 16 shots in .6 seconds, 1800 fpe of lead in less than second. Then the lcs 19 is 75 fpe with full auto and a 19 round magazine. The thing is guns are just easier to get both legally and illegally, I can kinda understand Europe with the strict laws but the bigger factor is that a real gun is just much much less expensive, the sk 19 is 2000$ , no criminal would waste their money on it when you can get a 9 mm putting out 230 fpe that's a fraction of the size for 1/3 price. And honestly the big bore rifles are matching a 9mm firearms power, 200 fpe with 120-140 grain slug is easily enough to put someone down, even at range. The fpe goes up 700 with some guns. And it is pretty wierd that there is absolutely no restrictions on who can buy one, you dont even need to be 18. I guess there is just a lack of instances where someone actually went out of their way to hurt someone with an air rifle, even though it is entirely possible.

  • @dutchsailor6620
    @dutchsailor6620 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why care if you are limited to 12 fpe? If you want power start with replacing the valve stem with a 'normal' one instead of experimenting with items you obviously don't fully understand. Increasing spring tension will show in better efficiency, not so much in power. Better, get a license and get yourself a full power version.

  • @roygregory1250

    increaseing the power on a air rifle to over 12ft pound is making the gun ilegal if you have not got it on a ticket.
