  • The easiest and cheapest way to quieten down a pre-charged air rifles ping or ring caused by air resonance in the cylinder when the hammer strikes the valve stem. The work was carried out on a Hatsan Galatian, but can be done on all other makes. Make sure the air cylinder is empty before you remove the valve and start the process.

    Please let me know

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't make any difference to the performance of the rifle. It is intended to take out the twang of the hammer and spring hitting the valve. The sound will normally resonate through the air in the cylinder, but by using the brush it stops this happening and you hear a thud, rather than the twang.

    What are you using ? a baby brush or something? How long?
    Thanks

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, its a baby bottle cleaning brush. Cut down to approximately four inches. If you make a loop on the end by bending the wire over, it makes it easier to remove if you need to. I experimented on the best position, which i found to be about 1 or 2 inches in front of the exhaust valve. It certainly stops the ping that all Hatsan rifles have.

    OK 1.) Can you PLEASE tell me if i can do this for a Benjamin Bulldog???... as they have the worst ping and there are no aftermarket depingers that i can find... And 2.) Only thing id think to worry about is where you cut the thick METAL WIRE of the baby brush and made a hook with to get out in the future. I worry that with possible moisture that PCPs are known to get in their Air Cyclinders from time to time could maybe start to rust that part that you cut where the metal is exposed and not covered with that thick paint it has on it. Do you know of that happening? No problems after say a long amount of time installed, like 1-2 years? and is there anything else that works as well without the metal that could rust???... Please Leave a comment and let me know guys. The Crosman Benjamin Bulldogs ping is horrible and loud. I need a Fix!!! THANKS. Peace!

      I have not heard of any problems with rust from the baby bottle brush, but it is an easy enough thing to check out from time to time, as you would on service to an o-ring etc. I am not sure about the Bengjamin Bulldog air cylinder, but it should work the same if you can access the air cylinder at either the filler end, or exhaust valve end. Obviously if you inserted it from the front, you would have to make sure that you had a piece of hooked wire long enough to extract the brush when needed to. A metal coat hanger would probably work, but the principle is the same. I have a MK1 Air Arms S200 and the inside of the cylinder shows no sign of rust due to moisture. Most dry air tanks are fine, but if you use a hand pump without filter I suppose there is always the chance of moisture. Hope that helps.

      Airgun Sniper-Elite thank you and yes I only use hand pump in a pinch. I wonder if it would be ok to paint the parts of brush that are cut to prevent any chance of rust? i dont see why not. Really great hack tho! really great vid! all and all i may just make sure not to use pump ever OR get me a filter for it. THANKS...

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the paint would give you the safety from potential rust, and at the end of the day it can't half anything. Good luck with it. You may find that you can play with the distance that you push the brush in from the exhaust valve end. I found that it worked best about 1 inch from the exhaust valve for better sound deadening.

      If its too tight to do by hand, which my inlet valve was originally, just make sure that the cylinder is fully empty of air and use a large Phillips screwdriver through the fill port for leverage. Once replaced you just need to have it hand tight.

      If you have a regulator fitted, you shouldn't need the brush, as it should do the same job of stopping the air resinating

      Airgun Sniper-Elite Hello thank you for your answer my model is a Hatsan BT65 in, and even having a pressure regulator installed when firing you hear that characteristic resonant sound of the air is heard as a "Ping". I have tried to install the brush after the pressure regulator and I still hear that characteristic sound but I am not sure if it is when the hammer hits the valve stem of the air cylinder

      @airgunsniper-elite7385  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry that this is a late reply. I haven't been on my computer until later on today, but I have posted a video for you of what to look out for. Usually is down to a indexing lever that is not working correctly, or miss alignment of the magazine, or even a pellet that is patruding slightly. You should be albe to see if you indexer is not working with the magazine out and pulling back on the cocking lever slightly to see if it moves up and down. If this is working, check the magazine. If it is not moving, then you will need to remove the side plate to see if anything has come loose with the indexer, such as a screw or spring.

    You have had no problem of things falling off or anything?

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, Skeatdude, no problems at all. Once the brush is pushed inside the bristles hold it in place. It only has to contend with air pressure, so not much can go wrong. Once you have released the exhaust valve it is easy enough to remove in the future. I have removed my brush a few times to see if there was any problems, but none found.

    I ask you a question; can i do it to a Hatsan At44-10? The other question; Does it take away strength or speed? Trank you and I await your response.
    Greetings from Argentina.

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can, and it will not effect the power of your rifle, it will just take out the twang of the sound as the hammer hits the valve stem, which causes the air to resinate like a liquid.

      Yes, I believe this is very similar to the new Webley Raider 12 that is coming out soon, as Webley's are now all made in Turkey to Webley's specification. If you have a look at the latest Airgun World, Terry Doe is testing the Webley version out and was very impressed with the accuracy etc, so maybe the Kral puncher pro is no different, apart from the name tag.

      @airgunsniper-elite7385  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, they certainly are. I had seen this done before and wanted to give it a go. I didn't want to spend £8 on a delrin de-pinger, as I have just ordered an Altaros regulator which will be installed, hopefully before the new year. This should then do the job of the cleaning brush, so you can understand why. This brush, as you can see certainly does the job. Since the video I tried moving the brush to different lengths of the air tube, but found the most efficient was the brush being place about 1 or 2 inches in front of the exhaust valve if that helps.

      offcourse it does dummy. even a fucking grain of sand in the tank would reduce the capacity of air in it. but one gotta be totally clueless not to realize that the effect of the brush on air volume is minimal. maybe one or two shots less you manc.

    after reading about this and then watching the vid I rushed out to get a bottle brush, unfortunately locally all I could find was fancy new age plastic crap for around £3, giving up and going to my local trade store to pick up a couple of bits on my way home, and while walking round spotted a radiator brush for cleaning the back of the house radiator.
    cut the story short it cost £2.50 and there is enough to do all 3 of my rifles with some left to spare.
    works a treat :)
    my AT-44 is now nice and quiet no ping at all
    I will do the other guns once they need topping up.

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad that you managed to sort out the brush in the end, plus it managed to do three for the price of one. I know what you mean. I did a second rifle, and all I could find at the time was a fancy looking baby bottle brush for about £3 or £4. I should have gone to Wilko, as I am sure they do a cheaper one, but at least i got it done in the end. Fittign a regulator does the same job, but obviously it costs more, so that is something I intend to do once I have saved enough money up to improve the shot concistancy as well as keeping the ping out of the equation.

    • @notimeformorons5505
      @notimeformorons5505 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did consider fitting a regulator to my AT-44 but it is very consistent as it is, shoots from 190 bar down to 100 bar with no noticeable change in POI and will shoot OK with minor drop in POI right down to about 40 bar.
      I find from 200 to 190 bar is the worst for accuracy but one you get to 190 she is spot on.
