  • I love this machine. I will forever recommend it for beginners and producers that want to not look at a screen or a tablet. It has pretty much everything you would want from a sampler. I love discussion so please comment your opinions!
The Akai MPC1000 is a music production center that was released in 2003. It is a sampler, sequencer, and drum machine that is known for its intuitive workflow and powerful features. The MPC1000 has 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads, 32-voice stereo sampling, and a 64-track sequencer. It also has a variety of built-in effects, including filters, delays, and reverbs.
Here are some of the key features of the Akai MPC1000:
    16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads
    32-voice stereo sampling
    64-track sequencer
Built-in effects, including filters, delays, and reverbs
    Standard WAV file sample compatible
    MIDI file sequence compatible
    Analog and digital I/Os
    Headphone output
    Two MIDI In/Out
    Internal sounds in flash
Four-way sample layering and velocity switching per pad
The Akai MPC1000 is a powerful and versatile music production tool that is popular among hip-hop producers and other musicians. It is a great choice for anyone who is looking for a sampler, sequencer, and drum machine in one package.

The MPC1000 is like an acoustic guitar. Nobody asks if an acoustic guitar is out of date. It’s complete. It doesn’t do everything, but in a good way.
One of the biggest selling points to me is the lack of distractions, which encourages me to think with my ears. I also love the fact that I can fix the thing myself. I expect I’ll have this thing for the rest of my life.
I don’t use it every day, but every so often I pull it out along with a few other pieces of midi gear and play. It brings me joy, and I still remember how to use it, no matter how long it’s been.

What lol, you are crazy. Absolutely not facts! Thee 60 to the 4000 are classic.
The 1000 is like a shiddie ibanez guitar from the early 2000s, yes it is dated amd a turd.
The 60 to the 4000 are like a Gibson Custom Shop, timeless classics.
      Stop preaching foolishness my guy.

@@DanielIvan707 What you do mean by push the convertors?
Turning up the main vol or the Input Gain?
I'm in the process of moving my MPC 1k/2500 beat to the Force which have the same convertors of the MPC ONE & all the beat sound more clear & louder because of the higher bit-depth. On the new units you can go into Sample edit & use Gain which can boost the signal up 12db & then run it thru it again & again to push the hell out of the convertors in ways 16 bit sampler never could.

I agree with everything you said in your presentation. I got My first MPC1000 for $165.00 a few months ago because a few of the buttons (bank and F buttons) were pushed in, they are still usable but require a little bit of effort to get them to resopond. The thing already had Maxed out memory and JJOS on it. It Happens to be the black one but I think I'm going to get another one because these Boxes are very much slept on. Thanks for confirming all of my thoughts about this Box.

I just took my MPC1000 out yesterday, but haven't even turned it on. It's a sign.
Also- I did the pad upgrade from MPCstuff. It is 1000% recommended. It now feels like my mint-condition MPC2000XL studio edition. It is a portable MPC2K now :D
Edit: I also wanted to mention that I am really considering abandoning my Ableton workflow and going back to MPC + 2 or 3 synthesizers, and then mix & effects added in a DAW.

I had one back in 08 and loved it, especially with JJos I switched to Maschine because I enjoyed the workflow but now that my job is on a computer all day I’m thinking of picking one up again. *Side note, the pads are fairly easy to solder on new ones if you don’t want to drop the cash on the upgrade but have a few dead pads. They don’t feel as nice but not bad.

I just bought one and after cleaning the pads and not glueing the black rubber square back over the sensor, but glue them to the underside of the pad. The pads are now very responsive even without full level which was a big must for me as I like velocity. They feel about as responsive as my One so I’m pretty happy. I love the workflow on this with JJOS2XL. Somehow feels more fun than my One. Great video! 👍

Get the black MPC 1000 you won't need the pad upgrade(other than thick pads if you want)

The MPC1000 are Numark/InMusic MPCs Akai went bust after the MPC2000/4000 and Z samplers, InMusic bought and name and carried on trying to use the Akai legacy. The 1000/2500 aren't bad just crippled by a bad OS from InMusic. I doubt these will ever become “vintage”.

Still pretty sought after out here, especially for the jjos. They aren't as vintage as the older ones but still have some redeeming qualities.

I absolutely hate the 1000, most overrated MPC, you people are hipsters, the pads fail, its cramped, no tilt screen. An all over low quality cheap device compared to the 4000 and everything before from the 60 to the 4000 and they all have the same and best pad sensors. The 4000 is a downgrad, and jj os does not save it. All of the following are better quality, fixable for life better sized work horses, 60, 60 mk ii, 3000, 3000se, 2000, 2000xl, 4000. The 1000 is not a classic golden era mpc, the above mentioned are. The 1000 is trash its just not as trash as the new ones. Build quality and sound over features, what features do you really need, people made better music than you on a 60, facts. The 1000 can get out of here. Also, the 2000XL is the most customisable ones buddy. Fixing several faults on your 1k is not customising it, that's fixing it for more than the unit costs... You were just young in the early 2000s and wrongfully think this is thd classic mpc, its really not, inmusic brought the company and destroyed it. Everyone loves cf, your just a daw usb dude, jj is all from the 4000, it is regular Akai OS, basically your preaching all the fboy stuff here.

Jesus. Stop fretting about the pads. Get balls. Buy two sheets. Try it, and replace yourself. No one cries about learning to change guitar strings. Or drum heads. Or maintaining any real instrument.
