Which JJOS would you recommend? I've always liked the look of an MPC 1000. Been debating wether to get one or one of the newer ones. I know the newer ones are more powerful but I like the idea of getting an older one so that I don't have to update it all the time and stuff.
@@BeatsBeneath I'm using JJOS 2XL, but I'm pretty sure that I could use JJOS 3 if I wanted to as well. I like how the 1000 sits nicely between vintage sampler and modern gear. Its definitely an old machine with lots of limitations, but is much more usable by todays standards than say a 2000XL or SP303. It samples in stereo, has a few built in FX, time stretching, and even USB to move samples back and forth from a computer (this is USB 1 so its very slow). With JJOS you get a modern DAW like sequencer, non-destructive chopping, flexible audio routing, audio tracks (I wish every sampler had this), a looper, piano roll style sequencer, and on and on and on. It is nowhere near as capable as the modern MPCs in a lot of ways, but it still holds its own in my studio against my Digitakt, Polyend Tracker, SP404mkII, OP-1, OP-Z, etc. Like I said, I don't ever plan to get rid of mine. As long as I can still get parts that break or wear out, I am going to be using mine alongside all of my more modern equipment.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌🏽💪🏽👨🏽🍳🫡fire beat G…Dope tip with the 16 level decay. Yo, chopping on JJos3 is a dream, you can real time chop, while the sample is playing, by hitting the pads.
The reason you have to lower the envelope sustain is because the decay is the second stage of the envelope and it always decays to the sustain value, so when the sustain is all the way up the decay won't change anything. Setting the sustain to zero gives the envelope somewhere to decay to. Great beat BTW!
I just got an MPC 1000. I'll be ready to dive in as soon as I replace a few switches (that's how I got it so cheap). I have always wanted a "Real" MPC. Thanks for sharing, this will help me get started for sure.
Nice tips! What I usually do after 16 levels decay, I mess assign the QLINK to the hihat volume and record automation over the pattern for velocity automation as well
This is awesome!! I produce everything on my 1000, learned some new tricks today. Please please please continue more videos on this MPC and not the other ones. This is what I need.
I've had an MPC 1000 back in the days then suddenly the mainboard died one day :-( I've loved this thing!! Great video!! Great beat like always....! I love your drums on every video!!You have to release a "Drum Sample Pack"!! I would buy it immediately! Greetings from germany
I just found your page today, and already I’m locked in to your videos.! Great inspiration, and techniques. Thanks, and keep going. I can’t wait to do some of these tricks
I started off with the 1000. I love tuning down samples in it, makes the sounds feel special. It always feels good to go back to it and cook up. Good work bro!!!
Great vid man! I make a lot of beats on my old 1000, love it. The bit crusher on drum breaks is dope. Please make some more vids breaking down ur process on the 1000!
Like a lot of the other commenters I wanted to show love for the Mp1g.I think it got overshadowed by the 2500 but it's just a raw little compact beast. The beat is dope as well.
I been looking for my second sampler. I have a force I love the arranger and launching clips. I’d like something to take to open mics an finger drum on. Resample riffs from the force. Been considering the 1000 it looks fun
Absolutely loved the beat, Ryan. And thank you so much for sharing that chop variation, where you go from right to left, as well as using 16 levels decay, instead of velocity. Loved it. I was just a little confused (I am still in the learning phase) what you did for sequence 3? Thank you for sharing. Blessings!
@@RYANMAKESBEATS Thank you so much for your response, Ryan. So what you are saying is, that sequence 3 is identical to sequence 1, except you added a horn sample over it. Is that correct? Thank you again for your patience with this newbie!
Nice work! How would you compare the 1000 in terms of immediacy to the 404MK2? I am tired of my MPC One, but can get lost in my 404 for hours. The 1000 seems to comparable more to the 404, but offering more convenience by showing more information at one glance. Thx & keep up the great work!
I need a new record player, im sitting on so many records for years now and never replaced my player. I want to start pulling my own samples and even tho the MPC one doesn't have phono in, I have a seperate phono preamp that was for my headphone amp which i can just use that. I do love the MPC 1000 tho and might need one of those in my life again.
It’s 16 bit so not really unless you use the fx and compressor jjos has. Granted it also has bit reduction to 8 and 12 bit. So maybe those could be what you’d look for
I had the 1000 before I bought an MPC One Retro. You can do lazy chop on the 1000 when you install JJOS3. You can het this free when you have a licence for JJOS2XL.
The 1000 is not a classic, anything on the timeline from 60 to 4000 is. The classic units are all gold, this is a bit of tainted bronze which is still better than modern day plastic but dont try style us dude, that's not a cash register, dont fool yourself that it is and lets be real this would have 6x the views if it was, just like driving a vintage car turns heads, this is more of just an old car that's not a particularly sougt after model, its a Reno Megane 1, the MPC 3000 is Morris Minor. Stop trying to flex it.
For me it's no problem to leave some extra sound on the end of the Sample. Cause you can split the sample also in 16,4 Chops for example. And also in the end I make every chop longer so that it is like crossfading with the next. Cause then i never have a break of no sound/sample. So you can't hear the gaps between the samples if you are a millisecond to slow or so.
For the beat in this video I quantized only the sample chop. I do this to make sure there is no dead space between the samples as they are sliced evenly. All of the drums are unquantized. Thanks for watching!
@@RYANMAKESBEATS Ah ok thats another way nice. I love also to use the Q-Fader with the "tune" mode. I slow down the sample for little bit until i feel the groove is just "perfect". haha keep up my friend!
The MPC 1000 with JJOS is absolutely amazing! Absolutely a sleeper classic. I will NEVER get rid of mine.

Varying the release time does something similar.

Nice job. The sample woukd have sounded nice passed through the 1000's bit reduction algorithm. Be sure to check that fearure.
Love seeing the facial emotion in your vids Ryan. Great video btw. Nice jam.
Homer Simpson 🤣
💯 that's 🔥 nice groove

Good trick with hhats, will try it in my next beat
COOL!!!!!! kakkoii!!!!!
This dude be snapping with the beats 😮
yes bro yes ... this the one ... 🔥💯‼

Super dope! shure going to test the decay tip.. Thx

Great vid Ryan! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Been wanting an MPC1000 for a while this basically sealed the deal!
Dope, Inspiring!
Great video and beat! You just saved me so much time with the mass pitch edit move 😮😮
Nice Vibe bredren 👍🏾

If you get the jjosXL you can chop as you listen aka the lazy chop

Hey Ry, how would you say this sounds in comparison with the ONE? could you finesse the same sound if you wanted to out of the ONE?
Enjoyed💯 Like always🔥
Thank you, I’m glad you are enjoying the videos!
Do you think the 1000 gives a punchier sound than the newer Mpcs? I have a Mpc x but I want more punch and warmth on my kicks

Thank you, I’ve got XL installed so I need to figure out all the different chopping capabilities
this is def a classic mpc i feel like the cut off is 2500 but even thats a push the 1000 was the end of an era frfr
Agree with you! I’d love to get my hands on a 4000 one day too, it’s such a beast
Nice beat. Are you using jjos3?
when chopping samples do i need to get song tempo first? or is that only for drum breaks?
That was fire! How can I get this beat?
eyyy i have a stanton turntable too
You should do RZA for your producer series
hi, how do i sound compared to mpc one do you find this mpc 1000 different?
Also make more MPC1000 videos!
Peace bro
@ RYAN MAKES BEATS . Yo u M.I.A on the mpc 1000
I think if you lower the gain on the mic for your voice and turn it up in production It'll be able to handle your voice better.
Do you sell your beats/produce for people

This was the kick for the second chop sequence. Thanks!

But than the problem is that you detune in a wierd way and other normal instruments are not equal tuned. thats my problem i have to see how i solve it
