Unfortunately very few on YT are left out there speaking their honest opinion ... Great that you're you - independent of brand, bike, topic 🏆👍
Once you get paid for a review you wont do negative results, especially when your making a living from these brands
What Adam says at the end is very true BUT, the fact that Western countries have become so much more expensive than competitors is due to Western governments artificially ramping up the costs of manufacturing with nonsensical "renewable energy" agendas (I've been following that conundrum for many many years and it doesn't make sense!), their unwillingness to explore and develop cheap and abundant energy, irresponsible monetary and interest rate policies and a perpetually expanding bureaucracy that costs an arm and a leg to sustain.
Governments always expect citizens to take the hit and start cutting costs whereas they never do that and always expand like a malignant growth. But any sort of growth that doesn't have an apoptotic/checking mechanism, ends up cancerous and killing the host.
The host is us! We pay the taxes! Wake up people, the current path is not sustainable.
A Greek sufferer (of a textbook case of an ever-expanding State).
P.S. BMW and many other traditionally Western brands, outsourcing the manufacturing of their bikes, or large parts of it, to Chinese producers should sound an alarm for the West.
P.S. 2. Exactly like Adam says at the very end, I looked at the market and couldn't justify the prices being asked for inferior bikes (with huge bundles of electronic junk that I will never or seldom use - but will surely have to pay) from those of the recent past.
So I bought my second 990 Adventure which I'll try to keep for as long as I can. They don't make bikes like these anymore. Manufacturers don't really want adventure riding to continue. This requires premium parts and that's expensive. They want Starbucks customers to keep buying their bikes and gather at coffee shops to talk about the next bike in line for consumption. Literally and metaphorically.
@@C_R_O_M________ Spot on CROM!!! Take this from another fellow Greek, not necessarily sufferer from the Greek state because I escaped to the US, only to be tormented by ever-increasing, idiocy from EPA and other environmental lobbyists that have no connection to reality; but they always do whatever they coerce you to do, "for your own safety....". You get the scam? Adam's reviews are fire!!
If we are being objective here, he sounds more like a BMW paid salesman than any other video I've seen about this bike. This conspiracy of all the youtube reviewers just saying what the sponsor wants is vastly overblown. Just idiots trying to think they are superior by "figuring out" and "knowing more" than everyone else. It's all stupid.
The man is sitting there lamenting that the bike that is built to sell bikes isn't built for his 1% of riders style and skill level, and then attempting to justify it by being elitist about a brand well known for charging more than their product is worth. You can get 80% of the BMWs performance, features, and durability for 40% of the cost now, just doesn't make sense to throw your money away at BMW.
Not just YT, globally. Every opinion is influenced
Every manufacturer should be send Mr. Riemann a bike to review. He does a proper review!
If they dare
👍 to your comment of supporting the brands who invested the R&D with real rally DNA to keep the quality coming in the future.
I totally understand his point. And it's valid. BUT most people are not like him and don't need the " big brand " stuff. And let's not forget about the price, there is NO way i can rake more than 10K Euro to get a bike. I love his content and i love the Adam, but he just missed the biggest group of ADV riders with his comment, the group that have bikes under 10k. Hell, maybe even under 5k. If i had the money to get a 890R or a F900GS Enduro, yes i would buy one. But i just can't like most people. And i was about fudging time the 'Big brands' got some pressure.
@@MotoSly buy used, what’s the problem, used are no sheit bikes. Stop crying. My first was a used Tenere. My second was an even older Triumph, my third was a new, the fourth was an even older Italian that served me 30 years on long-distance solo adventures… ridiculous that every little kid must have the newest and greatest and if not the newest cheap sheit instead.
@@GiancarloBenzina I am not even going to argue with you. Cause the " stop crying" makes you sound very mature.
@@GiancarloBenzinashhh! Don't say things like that out loud. Let the masses buy expensive new bikes, load them with even more expensive trick parts, and then flog them cheap as soon as the next new model comes out. By the way, although I have newer model (obviously second hand) bike, with all the gadgets, I always look at these bikes and ask: can my old XR650R do that? The answer is pretty obvious.
@@GiancarloBenzina And old bikes are "cool". War Horse being a prime example of how old bikes still can perform where it matters. Question: s there another XRV750 in the current crop thet we'll look back on 30 years from now?
You are a baddass rider, way above and beyond the average rider. If the bike can withstand your punishment, it’s more than capable for the rest of us. Of course I’m speaking of average riders like me. Love watching you take these bikes to there intended level. Keep the content coming. I’m surprised you don’t have 1 mil. followers yet.
When I see a ARiemann1 video notification you already know its gonna be good.
Ah yes, the one liner comment you can copy and paste under any video. Not sure what the like farming leads to on youtube though
You had good training, Mr.Fanboi.
An honest review and a clear opinion. Cheers for that.
I agree Adam, the upstart manufacturers are putting pressure on the big guys, and that’s a good thing imo.
Not everyone has $30k to drop on a bmw etc.
iron horses for courses.
It's not just your skill and knowledge that enables you, it's your courage. Doesn't matter what you're riding you'd make it work!
Keep 'em flowing.
The second this bike launched I put my name on one and always hoped that this review would happen. Thanks for the videos! I bought the bike with my heart not my brain, but it's awesome watching you push bikes to the limit, making me feel confident I wasn't a complete knob.
Not a knob, I have this bike in my garage and I sold my Ducati for it. It’s a RIOT of a bike, it’s an absolute blast to ride on and off road, you’re going to love it.
Enjoy this weapon mate ✊️
As always great video. I especially appreciate your comments about standing behind real deal brands. I think that this is arguably most important, honest and brave stance to take in light of the unravelling of many budget adv brands where an attractive price is likely combination of cutting corners and unfair state subsidies. In the long run it will be beneficial for us, riders to support established brands even if that means paying a premium over the unfair competition
Refreshingly honest comments about the future of adv bikes.
Mate I reckon you could release a new video from about the 10min 30sec mark, because that was gold and really made me think.
Thank you for that dose of brutal honesty about the current craze in new adv bikes and "cheaper is better".
Let's hope the established brands don't dilute their quality going forward.
Cheers mate for an awesome vid
Yeah but people want bikes that look like adventure bikes, not necessarily ones that can perform well in the dirt and mud. These are purchases that would be used 90% on the road for commuting and 10% on weekend gravel rides to a campsite. They don't need trick Showa shocks, just something with low running costs and more ground clearance than a typical beginner bike.
Thanks Adam for an awesome and honest interview on this 900 GS, I'm impressed by it 👌
Nice riding skills. Your riding style makes the review 10x better. I’ve been riding the 2012 800 GS since it came out. They’re not bikes to make that look easy.
Seriously. Do this for the Yamaha, KTM, Honda and Kove!!
Can't wait to see you on Tuareg 660
If Aprillia had a stronger dealer network I would be all over the Toureg 660. One hell of a bike but riding through central America would make me nervous as hell. So T7 it is for me.
Agreed!!! Please give us your no nonsense opinion!!! Coming from a standard but upgraded T7 (owned) theres no doubt the Toureg 660 (tested) is a more refined beast and right up there in capability... BUT I know what I'd rather be riding in the outback due to dealer network and known reliability. The Beemer seems to be a contender - bigger than the Yam and Aprilia but with similar tech to the 660 and with more dealership options in Oz... still holding on to the T7 despite having to contend with tippiness when slow moving... low slung Safari 45lt tank could be the fix?
I second that comment @pavelschors, actually you beat me to it, as I was going to say the exact same thing! Bring on the Tuareg Adam.
@@BernieRunns I'm from Costa Rica, i agree, italian bikes are not very common in here, heck, not even Kawasaki sells as much as Honda and Yamaha, or even Suzuki, as the owner of a Versys x300, i have had to deal with a few issues myself, because I can't even call the dealership, that has 2 offices within the central area of the country, to ask for an air filter for the Versys x300, because they might not have it in stock, while the Chinese bikes have everything in stock everywhere around the country.
Thing is, i would be extremely worried about breaking an Italian bike in Central America too, the support is near non existent, Costa Rica is a very small country, but i live at 200+km away from the closest Kawasaki dealership. I'm lucky that the Versys x300 is not a complicated bike, you won't catch me ever riding an Italian bike, they're too freaking sensitive.
@@BernieRunns I don't see why, as any big bike riding through central or South America you are extremely unlikely to get parts. Some US owners still wait for months for parts from Euro bike manufacturers.
BMW did something very different this time and amazed me so much with this design in terms of style & performance, so your review is very valuable in this sense. Thank you 🙏
Awesome review Adam 👍 we trust your honest opinion and integritty 🎉
Hope to one day see some of this kind of content on the vstrom 800. I don't imagine it is even close to the realm of the F900's performance, just love your open commentary and clear opinions and takes.
Someone get this man a Tuareg!
Yes please! As a female harley gal going adv. And heading to OZ, I am seriously looking at Tuareg, Transalp, etc. I know a lil 300cc won't cut the long miles for me x OZ..
I know I will never be able to ride like this….incredible skills. Just enjoyed watching this. Nice going.
wow thank you for your explanation on how to choose a bike. Never considered the long term factor and the quality differences. Always a joy to watch you fly through the air and swing around like a rag doll. Thanks.
Brilliant content as always
Great riding and completely agree about supporting manufacturers who have been in the game for years, decades. There's what, 6 new manufacturers coming out of China and half of them are KTM based? I'd like to hope that we can still continue to support the big names such as Honda, Yamaha, Triumph, BMW, Suzuki... But it's the wild wild west of adventure motoring.
Love to hear your philosophy on middleweight adventure bikes. Would absolutely love to see you do more reviews amd compare. I know that's not what this channels about, but .. your really good and trustworthy at this
I was waiting for this part 2, great review, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this !
Love watching your videos. Your riding skills are amazing. I'll never get to that level but appreciate seeing someone that can really run a machine through it's abilities. Great review
love what you did at 1:37 with the camera .. i absolutely love these quirk's you put in adam .. i have my Africa twin 1000 dct for 5 years now and shes stayed on longer then my x wife ..
Absolutely amazing to see what these bikes can do in the hands of an expert and then so refreshing to hear an honest no bullshit review!!! Keep er lit big lad 👍
Such a great statement in the end of the video! You are so right, I never would by a "i am 5k less" bike, then a used one would be better, or safe more money....
It is so rare to get honest and therefore valueable info on YT - Thank you so much man!
Well said. 100% agree on supporting the manufacturers that do all the development. Those that copy can't and don't innovate, which means you are contributing to innovation dying if you buy based on price alone. R&D costs money, and we should support that as consumers.
At the same time, I do think the major manufacturers should do their best to keep prices in line and not just focus on shareholder profits.
Thanks for the honest review as usual!
Another great and honest review! I am now sold on the 900gs
Can’t wait to see you on a CF Moto 450 MT. I know that’s the brand you’re referring to in this vid, but they seemed to have proved everyone wrong in regards to quality over the years.
I’d be very curious to see you test riding the Aprilia Tuareg 660.
Seems like everyone wants Adam on a Tuareg! I hope it happens.
Man, I'd sell my soul to be able to ride like that! Another great vid and review!
Adam, you're a legend! I ride a Rinho (dull) and I got the OutbackMotortek crash bar: they mount on the frame with 4 pins. A fab solution for adventure bikes. Just my opinion.....Thank you for everything you do.
Awesome honest review Adam, wouldn’t expect anything less 👍👊
Great review, thanks. I used to be an old bike rider XR DRZ, DR etc, but now that I am old, I like the modern bikes. The reality for me is I cant ride the way you ride, so if it can handle what you throw at it, it will be fine for me. The other reality is a lot of us have to do tarmac as well as off road, so I appreciate how good these new bikes are on road.
Great honest review, you've really nail it in a very nice maner. I wish everybody could review the adventure bikes that way, of course some riding skills needed :)
That's 1 of the best motorcycle reviews I've ever seen! And I've seen a lot
Seems a pretty serious competitor, that BeeEmm. Your thoughts on crash guards and frames and industry are even more serious. I wish someone would be listening to you, Adam. Quality matters. Happy days, Günter/Nürnberg
Great! Is the second part of the review i was waiting for, will wait until arrive at home, sit at the couch and have a beer while watching it!
Same 👍
I love beer…
two beers in 14 min that's feasible !
Cheers 🍻
I love it❤. "You don't want a one night stand". I keep my bikes for a long time so I get it. Thanks again for a great video.
All good points and good review with one exception. At one point all the OG brands you mentioned were the new cheaper kid in the block! Maybe we are starting to see better from the OG manufacturers because of the newer startups and cheaper pricing.
Well done Adam, that would have to be one of the best reviews I have watched. Well done being honest to yourself and us watching. Some home truths in the end there that can be taken into all parts of our lives. If you are budget conscious known brand but a good used older model and support that brand using the OEM parts system achieves the same end result……
Great video and comments. Thank you.
I just love your brutal honesty
Love what your doing and how you do it. Honest, clean and no B. S. I really hope and pray that you'll get the opportunity to do a review of the Yamaha Ténéré 700 Extreme. 🙏
Unfortunately Yamaha will not bring that model into Australia 👎
Do people realise these upstart "new" manufacturers are in joint ventures with the main manufacturers. Both ktm and Yamaha are getting cfmoto to build bikes/motors for them. The problem people are having is realising they've been overpaying for a brand name for years. It's a kick in the ass the big manufacturers needed when it comes to pricing.
I love my 22 890r. It does everything I want it to do. I have 2 sets of wheels, soft Avon’s set up on the OEM crap rims for the road, and hard core rims and tyres for the off road stuff. Contrary to what the knockers say I’ve had a 790 and 890r and loved them both. Done about 15k on both with zero problems. Keep up the great content👍
My 790R did everything I wanted till it needed new cams, valves, followers at 30k. Ive since found no less than four 890R owners that have had their 890R fail at low km with the exact same issues my 790 has. Its not good to no longer trust your bike and if twice the manufacturers services still means failure who wants to own it ?
I appreciate your attention to the details you considered in this review, thank you. I would love that bike with a valving and spring setting from pro racing rally raid suspension tuners 🤘 I got my MX bike done last year and the bike was much more predictable and stable. I checked the fork oil against the setting they claimed it to be and then raised it by 10mm and it wouldn't ever bottom the fork again, so their settings were spot on for me ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Factory Connection in USA
Made me miss my hone tracks around Donnybrook and once again an open honest review well done Adam
yooo 1:35 nice effects ._. great Viedeo as always. Best wishes from Germany
Adam i really appreciate your videos mate. Sometimes when at home and I’m having a bad day I really like watching them
Some more gold nuggets. Keep ‘em comin’ 👏🏼
Ahh yeah.
As a Norden 901 expedition owner I can’t wait to hear what ya think Adam.
Would give anything to know which you like better out of the two.
Thanks for all you do buddy!
Hope to see you and the mighty Ironhorse over here in the 🇺🇸
Member and Norden owner here too, would love to see him push a Norden against it. Safe travels
Just check all the stuff he’s done with the 890R, most recently the 890R MY23(? - the one with the updated fairing) reveiw after doing the promo video. His primary focus is fundamental balance and dynamics so 901 and 890 will be the same.
Probably the same as he thinks about the KTM 890
+1 but unfortunately there was no expedition model mentioned when i bought mine so i invested in Tractive boingers instead
@@justsomedude445 how do you like them?
Great review, Adam. Not everyone needs a new bike - wait a year and buy a used one and get some of the extras for "free". And in reality very few people need all that power, and there aren't many who can really handle it either. Increasing the engine size, power and weight each year is only a money spinner aimed at the well-off. My F650GS/Dakar from 2001 still runs well and I don't need a dealer to service it. Stay safe Adam🕊
Mine is from 04 and understand your scenario
2001 F650gs here. 91000kms going strong
Nothing but consumables, valve checks ✔ and I changed the water pump and rebuilt the calipers as preventative maintenence.
If BMW/APE built this bike today with the Austria built Rotax, I would go buy it again.
@@johna6968 My 2004 F650GS Dakar must have done well over 100 000km and still going strong. (Previous owners changed the computer box)|

@@danberry3417 😘
@@danberry3417 The only thing that irritates me with my bike is the very fast idle - have you solved that? I had a few electrical problems but the F650 club in Sydney helped me (I’m in Sweden).🌻
Great video! I agree with you 100%
Cant wait! Good stuff as always.
I really enjoy your reviews, your thorough ride tests and practical thoughts on all sorts of things. Another great video and excellent shots.
Great comments about the state of the market. My old TR650 has been a very loyal friend. Not the fanciest but a great bike with a solid, reliable base.
🤣🤣 4:35mins in absolutely classic the way of hanging in there LEGEND ( hows the plums !!) if that was me i would've ended up over the fence 🤕
on a serious note - you are spot on with the ADV market , but there are certain bike reviewers ( MAD ) who crap on about how much technology you get for the dollar, these two guys definitely influence the market with their PAID REVIEWS without realizing that most ADV riders are new to the market and do not know anything about the sport but hang onto what they see on TH-cam
THANKS AGAIN FOR AN HONEST REVIEW (UNPAID)
Adam's a good reviewer (one of the best) and I'm a great supporter, but this review doesn't delve very deeply into what this bike would like be to live with longer term (didn't even mention fuel range) and dare I say it he isn't going to say too much that is unfavourable about a BMW if he wants to get on a GS1300 and get paid to film their next Safari. The matching pants and jersey he's wearing say it all. Present the product in the best possible light! ie. don't bite the hand that feeds you!
that spot at 4:35 had me going "oh crap oh crap oh crap" because ive been in less serious situations before and lost it. he's an absolute monster as far as being able to handle these bigger bikes at speeds double or triple what id take my dual sport on!
I always enjoy your comments in your perspective I think more people should really take a look at this video and specially listen to what you say at the end it is so very true and unfortunately you are only one of the only people I have seen talk like this about Adventure motorcycles and top brand motorcycles I applaud what you say great job and I will continue to watch your videos every one that you put out cuz I truly enjoy what you say where you ride and being an American I love your accent. I checked out this 900 at my local dealer here in Ohio it's over 16,000 American quite expensive but I guess the quality is there my only two options would be Honda and BMW I'm not a KTM guy. Yamaha puts out some great motorcycles but I'm not a fan of tenere for some reason.
Hey I totally agree. Support the big brands and later on we will see who stands the test of time.
You said the bike handeled the ruts pretty well without ejecting you and while you are right, I on the other hand say YOU handeled that pretty dern well. It was a team effort really but DANG, that had me holding my breath.
Thats a wicked rant , spot on , love it
You can go into the settings for the specific mode, Enduro Pro and set the Traction Control and ABS to be on or off for that mode. Although, I have the 850GSA now, I'm planning to replace it with a T7 here in the next year.
Adam would shit bricks if he got a Tuareg ride
He appreciates electronics, loves the T7 weight and power(which Aprilia intentionally targeted to match), and blew all the competition out of the water with good stock suspension and chassis. No tower clunk that he mentioned all adv bikes have.
I put sw motech adventure rack and pro side carrier so mine is adventure ready in about 30 seconds of quick connect mounts. Plus optimate 108's. Absolutely love it
What is tower clunk?
@@Streamlines the dash not being secure enough. Bangs against the stuff around it
Wise words, mate, about those adventure wannabes... I do get your point about recognising the brands that put in the effort of R&D. We are being flooded by brands from you-know-where with their dumping price-tags and people get lured into their copycat crap. I made a bit of an effort to go for the World Raid favouring the trustworthiness of the Yamaha house name and I just can't see myself buying some copycat puzzle even if to save 5 or 6k. Grate review, as usual, your sick riding skills makes me so envious and conscious of how incapable I am. Cheers!
Thanks!, love what you're doing with the channel
Cheers mate, really appreciate the support!
Incredible riding!
And your ending statement is why I love my 2016 Africa twin 1000l
For the regular experienced jo, it's an excellent bike. If you want to race or travel far, then I'm pretty sure bmw and co will propose endless list of accessories. Excellent review
I really trusy this channel, no bs ! Thanks
Appreciate your call for quality. Hopefully consumers respond accordingly.
Good to see you, mate 👍👍👍
Spot on as always legend!
Spot on! yet again on so many levels.
As a Guide and mechanic specializing in BMW’s, I don’t care for the 700-850cc ADV bikes off road. If I’m going off road I use my personal KTM990 or 500exc to lead tours. We are awaiting the 900’s availability and are taking delivery of a 1300 soon.
I spent 12 days in Baja on an 850 off road and I just don’t find them capable.
Seeing your and other testers wringing out the 900, I’m starting to look forward to getting one.
It’ll take a heck of a bike to get me off of my 990!
Excellent review, thank you 🙏….
To get into the settings menu, you have to press down on the toggle switch and then use the wheel once you're in the sub menu. It's a little confusing at first, but once you get used to it, its easy to use on the fly
Another top notch honest review! If I were currently in the market for an adventure bike, this new BMW would be on my shortlist!
Always wait for your VDOs
Thanks Adam , that's exactly what i wanted to see, Seeing the bike ridden off road at pace in the bush . It looked to pass pretty well, even on the inevitable sketchy moments..
As I said in the video, as a base platform for an off-road capable bike, it can not be faulted - only made better!
Thanks for these to vids. Good on ya
Was really looking forward to this, for some reason this is the bike I’ve been really excited for out of all the mid- capacity bikes; let’s see what the Professor thinks about it
Great video as always. It doesn't matter which motorcycle you ride. To me you are a legend anyway.
Quickly back to the basics with less electronics as possible. The Warehorse and the Darkhorse.😊
😂 brother you handled that scenario very very well and thank you for video taping it 😄 That was entertaining as hell...
The button to the right of the control wheel, push down to enter a menu. Use the wheel to scroll up and down the menu. On the button there’s an icon at the bottom, the same icon is under until menus (kind of an arrow down). Same for up on the button. Matches the screen. Takes some getting used to.

Love your channel! Can you do a review of the Aprilia Tuareg? It seems to be right up your alley...
insane riding skills man.
Just beautiful Adam 💪🤠🔥🤌🏻☕
Cracking Review! I'd give the bloke who handed over the bike to at the dealership a bit of grief for not going through how to get the ride modes though.😂.
Your bit at the end has been something that has been going through my mind a lot lately. Mainly because my 2008 690 is now 16 years old and needs lots of love, but.... KTM still has all the parts available for it. Yes, even they are outsourcing now but their core values are still about building good things with a good dealer network. Sometimes that is worth more in 16 years of ownership than saving a few thousand dollars only to throw the bike away in 5 years after buying it.
Honestly though, I've noticed a lot of dealers sell these bikes having no idea how anything works on them. The dealer that sold me my f850 was a dirt bike guy that was mystified by the menus on the bike. Kinda funny but it's surprising given how much is written online about how the menus function.
Thanks mate thats a solid review.
Great honest review, the bike looks the biz.
Nice save! Coming up that rutted hill😂
Great video, great insight man!
Great vid and good points on steering clear of the cheap brands!
