Ha, ha. This video reminds me of the one where you were teaching the technique of braking to scrub speed before hitting an obstacle then releasing the brake to unload the front before hitting. A couple of days after that I was driving a van around the hills and encountered a shallow ditch across the road. I instinctively followed your advice. Passenger didn't see or feel the ditch. I can confirm that it works on other than motorbikes. Now I haven't been on a motorbike for about 40 years but about to drop some money on a little farm bike. Should be fun. Light, nimble and manageable for an old cripple. My adventuring kit would only weigh about 15-20kg for tramping or kayaking for a week. Looking forward to it. I've got a quarter million miles of riding experience... on pavement. Trying to learn gravel and dirt on a G/S. These videos are extremely helpful. You taught me how to corner on loose gravel. Thanks heaps!
I'd love to comment and tell you how much these videos have helped me with my adventure bike trips (helped me more than any other resource) but these videos have transformed my abilities on my dirt bike. What I've learned here has helped in ways I hadn't thought possible. Especially when you talked about letting off throttle/brakes when the wheel slide or could slide. I genuinely appreciate these lessons.
I really like that somebody's showing fast cornering, and light luggage setups. Are you 100% better rider than I am, yes! Which is precisely why I like to watch. If people are pissed off by these vids, they can quit watching them. Now... bring that baby to Kenya and lets test it in the stones!
All "self proclaimed" instructors out there take heed to Adam's master classes, best on the planet hands down, he will reshape the ADV world in time with his "truth bombs" and no nonsense expertise and teaching with clarity, no B.S., no stories from the great book of motorcycle myths common in most other instructional videos out there...thank goodness.....This man is saving lives from camel collisions, reducing helicopter rescue rates, and preventing (at least to a minimum) the "its part of the adventure" broken legs. Bottom line, this sport is an intellectual endeavor. "make some better choices in what they are buying" "the more comfort you have, the less enjoyable the riding...you are kidding yourself otherwise"....This man can articulate.......Cheers from Canada....

It drives me insane watching instructional videos on naked and unloaded bikes, exactly the way no one actually rides. Thanks for the reality over theory approach. Love your work, take care.
Doing my first bike trip on the new 800DE, and really my first motocamping trip. Swapped out to the soft side bags last night for the first time and it's really making me think about packing order and what I really need. One day I'll get to the harder offroad stuff, but new tires will be a must. The OEMs won't do much in the dirt and sand.
Wow! I know all about counter steering coming from riding ninja, GPS and Ducatis in my young age. I now ride adventurer bikes and I was taught to mosthly use pegs steering off road. This is a revelation to me! have to practice that ,thanks!

I really appreciate all the input Adam. It is also great to see you working with the 'World Raid'. I took the nice Black plastic Radiator cover off mine and used plastic screws to secure some mesh to the back of it - to keep out the larger stuff.
Thanks Adam, coming from road, these tips are very helpful as not much transfers over. Its a bit like learning to ride from scratch and learning to ride counter intuitively in some cases
This is why I decided to pony up for membership. I probably could have done with the steering lesson a bit earlier, i still have the ARB badge inprint on my left knee from a few weeks back. Something to practice in a month or so👍
I am planning to switch from naked bike to travel enduro tenere 700 next year. But as a newbie to this adventure riding i will have to practice a lot before ill go on a trip. Thank you for those videos.

I was already aware of counter steering in low speed situations, but now I learned that counter steering has an incredible usacase at high speed too! Awesome
A great video for a new adventure rider like myself...you have confirmed the techniques i seem to have naturally adapted so that has pleased Me. Years of Mountain biking has definitely being a contributory experience and is more transferrable than expected. I dont know if I am completely right but i squeeze the bike with my lower legs at times to avoid whisky throttle and hopefully gain more control over the bike in another way?!
Absolutely mate, gripping the bike with your legs will take pressure / leverage of your arms and allow more precise control of the throttle. Worst whisky throttle ever is when boots have blown off the pegs and rider is hanging on for their life, both arms fully stretched to the bars with the throttle pinned wide open. We've all been there at some point ...

Like the vid. All good practice. You have to move around and countersteer, absorb and rebalance your weight. Bear down on the bars to keep the front planted. Know what to expect and how to react. Much safer that way. All good. Appreciate your efforts. Never run with a wide ass. Like a bull in a china shop

Legendary videos Adam :) last week I went out on our 2020 T7 (got one for me an the old man to share as he just got diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer) after watching all your tip videos I decided to go green laning again, within 30 mins I felt that comfortable with the T7 on the road I decided to have a wander down a Green lane (our unsealed roads an tracks in the UK for anyone reading) I'd done previously on a 300 Rally I had an I really didn't enjoy the green laning on that. I had a wander up on the T7 only a short bit just to see how I felt mind game wise with a bit of green laning (Road based adventure traveller previously) Starting to apply all the techniques an advice you've been sharing an undo the road habits I absolutely loved the green laning really enjoyed it on the T7 I'd go as far to say I found the T7 more managable with the techniques I've learnt from your vids at a sedate pace an it all worked really well (our code of conduct over here is a voluntary 25mph to try keep the lanes open) When I posted on one of the forums alot of the lads were saying the T7 was top heavy etc an they'd sold them i didn't notice that at all convinced it was because mine hasn't got crash bars etc. I've also taken your approach to how I'm speccing the bike, looking at the AXP hpde 8mm plastic bash guards an the ACD ally bash guard both 2.5kg or so an I've got an Akro Can on so the weight will wind up same as standard, then some hand guards, suspension after that, soft luggage an get used to riding her like that. Totally different aproach to my previous bikes. An i took a rucksack out with my 1d an 70-200mm rather than buying any hard cases mega difference. The panniers on my old 1150 lived on the shelf since your previous vids an made that big bike managable. Thanks for the vids Adam opening up a whole new world of Adventure Riding for me :) an my old man's enjoying watching the vids ready for when he can ride again to.

As for the green lanes, they're awesome in the UK. I fumbled my way onto a few on the Warhorse. Wasn't aware of the 25mph limit though.

Came as quite the shock to us as he looked fit n healthy lots of operations ahead but he's got a good positive mindset. Oh yep that was amazing footage :) the Warhorse is awesome. I'm mainly into the older stuff 60s Nortons an 80s two strokes so loved the War horse footage. it's a shame they don't put some more signage up even though its voluntary I think its a good idea on them to help keep them open, it only when I was reading the TRF stuff before I went on them I found out Hadn't heard of the TRF till a friend mentioned them with coming from a road background, cool thing though Pretty handy map for finding new ones as part of that called the green road map to which they have just started doing :) wish we had the outback you guys have looks epic!
Counter steering is obviously counter intuitive but it works brilliantly on loose surfaces, it also works on road bikes with too much power, great lesson dude. Also shut off throttle while air born to dodge woodruff key snapping / sprocket wearing
Relaxing the chassis is the hardest thing for me. I'm always thinking the front wheel will just take a digger. So I end up putting around corners. Hope this helps!

Totally different aproach to my previous bikes.
An i took a rucksack out with my 1d an 70-200mm rather than buying any hard cases mega difference. The panniers on my old 1150 lived on the shelf since your previous vids an made that big bike managable.
Thanks for the vids Adam opening up a whole new world of Adventure Riding for me :) an my old man's enjoying watching the vids ready for when he can ride again to.

As for the green lanes, they're awesome in the UK. I fumbled my way onto a few on the Warhorse. Wasn't aware of the 25mph limit though.

Came as quite the shock to us as he looked fit n healthy lots of operations ahead but he's got a good positive mindset.
Oh yep that was amazing footage :) the Warhorse is awesome. I'm mainly into the older stuff 60s Nortons an 80s two strokes so loved the War horse footage.
it's a shame they don't put some more signage up even though its voluntary I think its a good idea on them to help keep them open, it only when I was reading the TRF stuff before I went on them I found out Hadn't heard of the TRF till a friend mentioned them with coming from a road background, cool thing though Pretty handy map for finding new ones as part of that called the green road map to which they have just started doing :) wish we had the outback you guys have looks epic!

Counter steering is obviously counter intuitive but it works brilliantly on loose surfaces, it also works on road bikes with too much power, great lesson dude. Also shut off throttle while air born to dodge woodruff key snapping / sprocket wearing

Having suspension properly set, sprung and valved for your weight is crucial in applying most of these techniques.
would be great if you can cover the subject of tire pressures in a future video.
Relaxing the chassis is the hardest thing for me. I'm always thinking the front wheel will just take a digger. So I end up putting around corners. Hope this helps!
