    These two are way more fun to watch than FOX or CNN! I use baking soda in my arm pits and in my shoes, it really help keep me from stinking too too much. I also sprinkle a few tablespoons on my hard surface floors and sweep it around, especially dogs room. Often, I'll leave a cup of vinegar or a vinegar soaked rag in the dogs room and it really keeps it fresh and presentable.

    I am using the coconut and baking soda mix for deodorant and toothpaste. It is an awesome mix and chemical free.

    I've been making my own deodorant for years! Mine is 1:1 baking soda and arrowroot powder then enough gently melted coconut oil to make a paste. EOs to "taste" (my girls like lavender, I like ylang-ylang or patchouli). Love it! I've learned to be careful at labeling my homemade products though because I'm bad for mixing them up. I was once wondering why my deodorant wasn't working as well as it normally did, then I discovered I'd been applying my make up remover for the last week or so by mistake. Doesn't work so well as deodorant but at least I didn't get any stubborn armpit mascara stains XD. I don't usually wear make up anymore though so at least there's one less product to keep track of LOL.

    I switched out our deodorant several months back to baking soda. Initially I had a small rash but after a few days it went away. I do add dried lavender flowers to the baking soda for the fragrance. I have sealed it in an old jar that clamps so that the baking soda doesn't absorb the room odors. I use an old makeup pad to apply it. I suppose someone could purchase a powder puff for their deodorant. I am loving your videos. Thank you so much!

    Loving your channel. Better than watching a lot of the other garbage out there. Your content helps me with anxiety over working towards off grid by seeing everything taught step by step with newbies in mind. Shalom shalom over you both. Keep up the good work.

    I just recently came across your channel. What a treasure trove of good information. Thanks so much for all of the natural and healthy helpful hints you provide. The deodorant one has been especially helpful and has worked perfectly. I only use the baking soda and no oils mixed in and it really works! No B.O.! I have sensitive skin the last couple of years and had to stop using deodorant. My armpits smelled terribly of B.O. before I even got to noon, so not using anything at all wasn't working for me. I sprinkle a little backing soda under my arms after a shower and what a difference! Zero underarm odor. I've discovered that I don't even have to use if after every shower; it really lasts. I'm so thankful for the tip, Stacy. Blessings to you both for the time and effort you put into this extremely useful channel.

    M y Husband and I have been using a natural deodorant that I make ( I found the recipe online), It works great no odor!!
    I've been making it for about 2 yrs now, it is now 2017. Here's the recipe: 6-8 Tbsp Coconut oil (solid state), 1/4 cup baking soda,1/4 cup arrowroot powder. Mix together the baking soda and the arrowroot powder. Slowly add the coconut oil and work it in with a spoon or hand blender until it's firm yet pliable texture. If too wet add more arrowroot powder. Place in a jar with lid and apply with fingers. Make sure you don't get water in it otherwise it will cause bacteria within the deodorant.

    I watched the other video you mentioned a few weeks ago. I decided to try to make my own. I used plain baking soda the first few days then made a batch with coconut oil, arrowroot powder, baking soda with lavender oil and patchouli oil. It works!! And I have been using feminine deodorant spray for several years. I stopped using that as well after reading the ingredients. After quitting the store bought deodorant I noticed my body adjusted and there was not a need for fds. Thanks for sharing.

    You can also try some diluted apple cider vinegar, then wipe dry. Or spray it on in the shower.
    Or food grade hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle.
    Or drinkable vodka - not rubbing alcohol - that stuff is toxic.
    For scents, I use a few drops of organic food grade almond extract, peppermint extract, real organic vanilla extract, and orange extract, you can find these in with the spices. I combine them differently each time.

    This is fabulous! I've seen a lot of homemade deodorant recipes that seem like a whole lot of work and are quite questionable in effectiveness. This one looks doable. My kids are starting to get to that age where they'll need deodorant and I've been looking for something that would work well because I really don't want to start their growing bodies on those chemical hormone interrupters.

    Yup and that is way when I have gone to any gun show, homestead conference, renewable energy conference extra . The smell of "B.O." body order is so strong it makes you jag hence I attend them vary rarely. Natural can only do so much, I have found that to stay fresh throw out the say reapplying is needed which means you use more, there are commercial deodorants that don't have aluminum or alcohol in them for roughly the same price.

    if straight baking soda is too harsh - try using arrowroot powder (Bob's Red Mill is what I use) Personally, I use half baking soda and half arrowroot powder, but you can use any percentage or 100% arrowroot as well.

    HEEEEYYYyyyyy Doug and Stacy!!! Its been a while since we chatted. Couple things. Im heading from RI to Texas to meet up with friends. 1) I would LOOVE to stop by and see the Homestead. If its okay. 2) My friend introduced me to the new deodorant. I have been trying to find a deodorant with no aluminum and that worked etc. Nothing worked so I would go without till i stank and would apply some Old spice or something. Anyways my friend introduced me to his recipe as follows. 75 to 25 parts shea butter and coconut oil. Warm the shea and add the coconut oil. The she is pretty solid, the coconut oil is pretty soft. Mixing the two makes for a firm paste at room temp but melts with your body heat. I mix it up in a small tupperware. Whens its mixed and all ready i dip my index finger in the paste and then dip in the baking soda. Apply the paste under the pits. It lasts all day pretty much. Works great.
    Keep up the good work. Would love to stop by on my way out to Texas.

    • @LovingAtlanta
      @LovingAtlanta 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      + Elaine Lovejoy - Sorry to hear that you had a negative result with the baking soda. You could try cornstarch or arrowroot instead. I’ve also used apple cider vinegar & water - I don’t measure exactly each time But it works (spray it on or wipe it on) I got little spray bottles from the Dollar Store in a 3pk).

      The same thing happened to me! Super itchy rash (made worse when I applied it after I was freshly shaved), even when I tried using less of the baking soda. It is cleared up, I think I am going to try this recipe and see what happens. Some of the comments mentioned trying arrowroot powder, can you get arrowroot powder at a whole foods place?

    • @crazyazmommy
      @crazyazmommy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anyone try it with just arrowroot? I tried a recipe with some baking soda and some arrowroot and broke out SO BAD ! SO painful , I was scared to try a new recipe using one or the other since I don’t know which one is what made me break out (I hope not both ) the trend I’m seeing is the baking soda is what many are allergic to. I’m interested if any similar people that have broken out like me have tried just arrowroot or just corn starch and the results. 😊 thank you!!!

    do just like a dog. if you stink, then roll around in a horse pile. then you won't have a personal stink !!! Then you will be ready to take a bath anyway. Sea salt, baking soda, coconut oil, corn starch/talcum powder, and some essential oils. If you stink, then deodorant is not the issue - go wash your pits and bits before you are a "stinker!"

  • @WhatDadIsUpTo
    @WhatDadIsUpTo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    BETTER YET -- I don't use any deodorant and here's how: I shave my underarms. I know what you're likely thinking, this guy's gay or something. Not the case at all. You see, hair harbors moisture and bacteria and that combination equals a 'malodorous situation' or B.O. I used to dissolve those big crystals that you can use to replace deodorant in water and spray that on. I called it "Stink Off", but this is SO MUCH SIMPLER. Just shave your pits each time you shower. Does it itch? Yep, first two times or so, but that goes away. MEN: Does your face itch after shaving? See where this is going? Try it. I like it; too bad my name's not Mikey or I could borrow that now-famous cliche term. Hey, Mikey -- If you're listening, shave your pits, bro!
