The “insurance doctors “ are what we have in my area, sad to say. I walked from work to the doctor’s office several times a number of years ago. I was about a mile away and had 15 minutes to get to my appointment on time. As soon as I got there, the nurse would take my blood pressure. Not giving me time to cool down and my heart rate get back to a normal rate. The “doctor “ tried to get me to take blood pressure medication. He insisted that I had high blood pressure and needed to take this medication. He wouldn’t listen to me about why my blood pressure was high at the time it was taken. The last time I went to him, I got someone to give me a ride. He said that the medication was working because my blood pressure was normal. I told him that I never filled the prescription. And that the only reason my blood pressure was normal was because I didn’t walk from work to the office. I got a ride so my heart rate was at a normal rate instead of a higher rate because of excise. Then I told him to get my records because I was no longer having him as my doctor. He wasn’t happy with me at all!! I think he needed the medication at that point. Since then I only go to a doctor when I feel like I need a doctor. To date I haven’t been sick in over 20 years, not even a cold/flu. I’m not taking ANY Medication of any kind. I’m 67 years old this month.

I too am in Ohio. And have found none here that I can afford. Forced to now pay for Medicare I go thru the hoops but ultimately have to treat myself with the help of a few drs who aren’t tied to insurance based medicine. It gets costly though and they still follow some of the office models that others do. I’ll do it as long as.I can. And get healthier in the process.

This literally just changed my life. Although my dad is a traditional doc, for the last 10 years, I've been pursuing a natural health lifestyle here on our homestead with nutrition and herbalism. But I still feel the need to have a medical practice behind me. Having suffered through patient shaming most of my life, I avoid the medical grid system like the plague. I just looked up DCP in my area and found a practice that is not only DCP, but includes holistic treatment options as well. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Hands down the BEST episode you've EVER done!!!! I've spent the last 15 years battling chronic sever ITP. I was on a constant drug ( to the tune of $10,000 a month), hospital/clinic treatments roller coaster. Life was miserable. I finally went to a naturopath, studied the effects of food on my disease, started taking herbs, and having a lot of faith in God. Today my disease is in the rear view mirror, no thanks to traditional medicine. Western medicine was ALL about the money. My husband is ready to retire but didn't because of health insurance. Now we have a different avenue. Thank you so much! 💓 This episode was greatest!!!!

I'm Robert's better half Debbie. I am a retired registered nurse who practiced medicine in a large public teaching hospital. In the 1999-2000 I assisted one of our attending physicians in setting up a CAM clinic at our hospital. CAM stands for complimentary Alternative Medicine. He performed acupuncture, gave exercise courses and prescribed herbal medications. Actually I was surprised that the hospital allowed him to do this back then. I'm really excited to look into this new system. I am so happy I'm retired because our medical system is horribly broken now. Thank you for sharing this awesome information.

We had the world's greatest doctor pass away in my area not too long ago. He graduated from Harvard and practiced in a smaller building outside of their home here in TN. He and his wife barely charged enough to get by. I'm pretty sure he delivered half the babies born in Grundy County for 50 years. He didn't even charge for most prescriptions if he had them on hand. He stitched up and put back together too many to tally on one paper. Look up Dr. Harbolt (folks around here pronounce it Har-bow, all one syllable though) if you have some free time. People from 3 and 4 counties away would hear of him and come see him when they needed help. Raise your shot of kambucha, tea, whiskey, water, whatever you're drinking tonight to this man who raised up a tiny mountain town and kept it going for half a century.

We have a doctor in our town who walked away from insurance payments and started a practice about 10 years ago, he doesn't take insurance, it's a brilliant idea he only accepts so many patients so he can take time with each patient. He also makes deal with labs and pharmacies to get discounts on drugs and lab work... He has grown exponentially and has added two other doctors to his practice. My Daughter is a member of his practice, and she pays $50. a month that's it no other charges and she can go to her doctor any time it usually only takes a day or two to get into see her doctor. This Doctor is a second-generation Doctor in our community and has a huge following. He also managed to let more than three quarters of his staff go when he went this route because all they do is bill insurance... A lot of his patients still use insurance for emergencies. So, if anyone is in western Washington, I can direct you to a great group of doctors.

My grandfather practiced medicine for over 50 years and the system described here started back in the 1950s. By 1990 he was considered a quack doctor bc he wouldn't conform to these practices. My own experience with the medical system has led me to seek out herbal solutions. They want to treat my symptoms and not do an official diagnosis (bc that requires testing and too much time) then the insurance comes in and says "you have no diagnosis for these medications so you don't need them and we won't cover them". The system is definitely broken and I'm so glad to see that there are doctors willing to fight it and bring medicine back to its original purpose TO HELP THE PATIENT.

I enjoyed this so much! I’ve always been pretty “off grid” because I never trusted doctors. Even as a child, I’d tell my mom what was wrong with me and what was needed. Read tons of herbalism books starting at age 12. I’ve successfully treated my husband and children without Dr. intervention with the exception of trauma/broken bones. Last year, I had a blood panel worked up by an “off grid” doctor just to see if I had any red flags. She told me she’s never seen better labs. My vitamin D level was 102. She told me to keep doing what I was doing.

Now this is a real Dr!❤ You are very blessed to know him, few and far between. Ive studied herbs and natural health after being in the medical system. Ive been in natural health 24 plus yrs, but couldnt slow my lifestyle down, and implement them, living in the city, with my own business, and not fixing my own food, stressing about business, staying up late, and cancer hit! We all need to put our health first, from eating, sleep, etc, and first a walk with our precious Lord, and Creator.
We sold our house in the city bought some beautiful land time to heal now, and not go back to the hustle and bustle life.
My Oncologist was a pharmacist!!! This is the hardest to deal with. Our beliefs totally different. I know Im her worst patient or client. But so far shes not quit...lol! But also she dont know all the natural things I do. Im still here, have 70 plus chickens I take care of, and their houses, garden, can, preserve food, just mowed grass yesterday, with stage 4 cancer terminal. One yr ago I just had spine surgery were rsdiation and cancer totally ruined my vertebrae, and it had to be replaced, in the middle of moving, I was in a down hill spiral loosing a lb a day. No more radiation, learn my lesson, no chemo at all!
But I cant give up! Research for answers they are out there! Thank you for all your information yall. This will be a help to so many people! I've learn to just dont busy yourself so much you forget to actually live! All this having everything or should I say material things dont mean anything when you are sick, you cant enjoy them, and you will find out how much you dont need, and how much peace there is without it!
Good job Carolyn! May God Bless yall! ❤ I wish I could find a Dr like him!

Yes yes and yes. I was 4 months bedridden with doctors experimenting with medication that was making me worse and telling me „just keep taking the meds“ and not sending me to do the tests that would make sense. I went to naturopathic medicine practitioner and he diagnosed me with Crohn’s disease just by looking at my lips (of course he then sent me to do the tests and we confirmed his diagnosis). We healed my Crohn’s with only natural means including colon therapy, ozon therapy, complete nutrition shift and identification of food allergies, supplementation and refilling my vitamin storages. Since 2.5 years in remission. My health journey indeed brought me to this vision for my life to want to learn to homestead, can food etc. Thanks guys! Mind you I am in Germany and here the fully naturopathic healers (not talking about conventional doctors who will give you a homeopathic spray every now and then) are not considered doctors, are never covered by insurance and aren’t allowed to sign any papers for you such as illness paper or confirmation for your chronic illness in case you need it to file for welfare etc

Yes I have insurance and a regular Primary Care doctor... but I see my Function Wellness Doctor who is AMAZING! I pay cash for my functional wellness doctor. Totally worth it. She fixed my "depression" which was actually a Vit D/Vit B/hormone deficiency! I am a Nurse and complained for years about the same symptoms and was just started on antidepressants which DIDNT work and actually made me worse with the side effects. All my "regular" labs were normal. My PCP never checked my vitamins or hormones which was actually what my problem was. A Functional Wellness off grid doctors give the information to the patient and puts the power back in the patients hands. It's an amazing thing!

Well this was fantastic! My husband gets very irritated with me because I've basically given up on doctors except in an emergency situation (other than I have to do follow up visits once a year with a neurologist due to being on seizure medication) but I really started noticing a few years ago that doctors no longer seem to focus on ways to help their patients get better, they just find ways for their patients to get by. That is NOT what our bodies were created to do. And a related problem I've noticed with most people today is that they have no idea how to listen to their bodies and/or take care of even the most basic medical issues themselves.

I have finally found a department that I can hangout with my patients for a little while, within reason (they want a max of 1hr per patient), and it brings me so much happiness and back to why I became an RN. It’s so upsetting that the healthcare system is indeed very “soul deadening” as it is very money focused herding patients in and out as quick as possible. I would absolutely love to start working off grid and have enjoyed starting to make tinctures and incorporating more medicinal plants into my garden. I would love to one day not be tied to my job and would love to just homestead. I wish I lived closer to y’all and the off grid Doc. Thanks so much for sharing all your knowledge with us ❤

For my children's ear infections I have sauteed garlic to address the bacteria and onion to address the pain. Once translucent I strain the oil, allowed to cool down so it is warm. Have my child lay on their side with infected ear up. Put in a few drops and let it sit 5 minutes. Usually there is some relief pretty quickly. Switching sides with a towel under their ear for drainage. This has worked wonderfully. As an adult self treats using same method. When he has kids I know he will do the same.

I just retired after 38 years in the medical field as a revenue cycle report writer. Dr Issa's words rang so true for what I experienced in the rapid changes in the 'insurance model' of practicing medicine. EVERYTHING is driven by 'reimbursement'. 5-15 minute office visits and revenue-driven benchmarks with and without quality measures robs the patient and the physician of an important relationship based on CARE. Thank you so much for this segment!

@@YeshuaKingMessiah In a medical practice, revenue cycle reporting is the tracking of revenue (charges to patients or insurance companies for services, supplies, medications, durable medical equipment, lab and imaging studies, etc) through reimbursement (payments by patients or insurance companies for said services). It is all driven by level of service coding and proper documentation to maximize reimbursement. Many times this analysis model creates pressure on providers to see as many patients as possible to increase revenue/reimbursement. Then Administrative quotas restrict the provider from being able to spend sufficient time with each patient to provide quality care focusing on treating root causes of illness rather than a 5-10 minute visit and prescribing medication to treat symptoms. It has hurt our healthcare systems and the patients they serve.

So many MDs don’t even practice now, they open the office and hire PAs and NPs to work, charging the ins co for visits, etc but paying less to the worker. Like when they make u consult with the RN on phone before they’ll deign to speak to u-possibly. Smooth deal, AMA.

When he saw how little insurance covers for chiropractic care he sold his business - he has another, unrelated business as well, and focused on that for a couple of years - then built an office at the end of his home and started seeing patients again, for a set dollar amount, which was about what most of them had been paying as a copay anyway. He's spent anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour & 15 minutes with me, depending on what's going on, and always gives me stretches and/or exercises I can do to reduce the frequency/severity of issues, or sometimes eliminate them completely. I did a quick look-up, and I have a DPC location about two hours away.
