That Iwata has a really nice spray pattern and looks like it atomizes the clear really fine. I wish I'd bought the 3M gun before I started my project. I think for someone just starting out in car painting, the 3M gun can't be beat, with all the different nozzles that come with it. I think it's probably the best value out there and just a real versatile pro gun at a great price.
The texture in your base coat comes from the paint drying to fast when it hits the panel. Try reducing your gun pressure to 20-23psi. Slow reducer helps the paint flow flat. Good video.
Hi Chris’s. Thanks for that review, I’ve been looking for a straight forward assessment on one of these guns for a while and this is by far the best. Already got to many guns in my arsenal but I could not resist ordering one of these Kiwami4 all due to using the previous W400 from years gone by. The W400 was a big game changer for me when they first came out and for the $300nzd off eBay , to good not to buy even though I have no use for it really… straight to the trophy room!
Great video some guns spray better base coat like the astro compare to a wide pattern very wide pattern can cause mottling especially if you use water base and if you live in a high humidity area I use astro he on single stage because I can move fast to wide on a base coat can make your blend bigger than necessary just my thoughts
All guns seem good. The Kiwami appears to need more tuning to compare. The Sagola appeared to spray heavy and could probably use dialing back on the fluid. The 3M is definitely impressive. The Astro appears like it's predecessor... really needs to dial in the air, fluid, and fan for a tighter pattern that most likely will lessen the fan to about 8". Still reasonable for a LVLP gun.
Hey garage. Great video. Would the iwata be ok to start with as long as I test and get my settings right? I really want the iwata or the Astro. This will be my first paint job on a car. Thanks for any help and advice you can share.
The Iwata would be one heck of a first gun for sure. One thing I will tell you, you need a good amount of air . It needs 29 psi to lay down that clear. I typically like to paint at lower air pressure since I'm not in a paint booth. You will need something to remove those fumes just a heads up. Its a great gun tho .
Can you make a spray gun video using a 30 gal compressor and give your option on the best gun for the D.I.Yer with a small compressor... for painting car panels..
About the Astro EVO14, will that gun be capable of spraying metallics without issues? or do you recommend something else with a larger spray pattern ? I have a 30 Gallon 5.5 cfm oil cooled air compressor for my go to. Cheers!
Honestly with that compressor, depending on what youplan on painting a lvlp paint gun like the R500 might suit your needs better. It sprays metallics great and is less money than the astro. Check out my paint gun playlist and check out the r500 and aeropro a610 same gun difficult appearance. I've got plenty of video's in those guns.
I was looking at your Amazon store. What's the difference between gravity and the pressure fed 3M gun, both kits seem to have a regulator? What do you use?
Chris I just bought my dad a blue Tundra and it is the same blue. Please tell me brand of this blue and where you bought it. I need a gallon to repaint his whole Tundra. Thanks for all your info my white one came out awesome
@@GarageNoise I am getting ready to paint my dads truck. Will i need a gallon to repaint his wholte 2012 Tundra. IT is Toyota Code 8S6 Nautical Blue and trying to see how much it cots and you said you bought it at Oreillys.
@redbaron2448 the Kiwami4 is just under 10 CFM. It's efficient on air, but really takes more effort to dial it in so it doesn't waste paint and create plumes of overspray. If you're just beginning, I don't recommend it. I prefer about 18-20 psi on base with it (fan and fluid dialed to that). The EuroHE is easier to dial in, takes less pressure, and doesn't have the overspray the Kiwami4 has.
Does the kawami have a better looking finish compared to the aeropro a610? I'm buying first gun to paint some huge speakers piano black and really having a hard time figuring this gun thing out.
Which regulator(s) do you prefer? I see you have a 3M on the Iwata. I have the same, but heard that diaphragm types are better? Is there any truth to that? edit: But you switched to a digital to do the actual spraying! I'm even more curious now. (thanks)
I really just use whatever, I've never been that concerned about a regulator cause I make adjustments according to how the gun is spraying. The digital one are from harbor freight and seem to work well. As long as they function properly. Thank's for supporting the channel!
As someone who is going to undertake the process of DIY painting their car, but have no access to a paint booth or garage, do you have any tips or videos that I might be able to use?
@@Awkward_Fox I didn't fully read your comment the first time. I'm actually not sure if he has videos on painting outdoors. If you absolutely have to, it's really just a matter of weather. Rain and wind have to be non-existent while you're painting and while it's drying.
It lays out some really nice flat clear. Now, any gun can produce orange peel if your settings and techniques are off but you can certainly lay down a flat finish with this gun.
@@GarageNoise I want painting my car I this gun iwata and devilbiss lite with air cap Te20 Which one is better to use in your opinion, I am confused thanks mate
@@fromaustralia8871 They both are excellent guns for both base and clear the devilbiss pro lite is probably a better all around gun. The only drawback to the Iwata in my opinion is on metallic paint it can atomize the paint too much causing an inconsistent finish.
I like the Sagola best for clear. Honestly the R500 is not far behind in an experienced hand. It certainly produces less overspray and that makes a difference to me. Appreciate the comment and support!
