  • Every now and then you get a shot at the big one. Last weeks "Big One" swam out of the net and threw the hooks. Today was not that day. This big boy did not get away.
We released a couple more and caught a couple brown bombers, AKA Yellow tail Rockfish. Strangely enough we did not even touch a Coho.

Are those big jons downriggers? Rarely seen out here. Why did you choose those?

They came with the boat when I bought it. Not as powerful as Scottys but they work. The new ones are comparable to Scottys.

Great fish bud. Love the channel. I got a 26 pounder on 7-9 out of Westport. Seems to be bigger fish this year. Looking forward to fall on rivers

I've watched several of your videos, most excellent. Thanks so much for the content (will subscribe right away). I noticed that you leave the second rod out when playing a fish. Can you tell me how you came to that position? When we're out there we reel up secondary lines when a fish is on. Perhaps we're making the wrong decision on that. Your thoughts would be most welcome. Thanks again.

Yes we leave all the downrigger rods in. If there's a shotgun rod (3rd surface rod) that comes out to clear space. It keeps them fishing. Chinook are pretty easy to manage while coho on the other hand can cause tangles due to their erratic behavior. We Tuna fish a lot so dealing with that chaos isn't a big deal. Thank you for watching. Appreciate it.
