- It was an Albacore Tuna Bloodbath. We traversed 60 miles of Ocean to land upon 60+ degree clear blue waters. After many troll fish were landed we manage to convert to Live Bait (Anchovies) and boat an astounding 50 fish for 4 guys in less than 6 hours of fishing.
We caught them trolling. On flat fall jigs (iron). Live Anchovies. And on the Jack Pole. Thank you for watching.
If you want to see the proper way to carc (clean) an Albacore Tuna, watch this video posted back in 2012 by Captain Mike.

Gene, your videos are getting better and better! I love the lesson on chlorophyll and the chart that you showed! Nice!! 😃👍
@@GooglyEyeFishing Thanks. Appreciate it.
Team work makes the dream work. You guys are a well oiled machine and this video is an outstanding example of how to fish for albacore. Tight lines!
Wow, thank you!
No kidding, I thought that was a charter boat at first. It's like you're netting for the other guy to take a break lol
more like an icy pod 🤣 looks like an awesome trip!
@@djmilhaus 😄
Another awesome video… would love to see you do a short segment on rigging for these tuna, both trolling and bait and then fish care as well. 👍🏻
Will do next time 'round.
Such a great video!! Awesome fishing trip!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing - seriously informative much appreciated / definitely one of the greatest fisheries out of the Pacific Northwest.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice work! Like a well oiled machine.
Thank you very much!
I showed my grandson who will go on the tuna trip with me - this video and durned if he didn't recognize your friend Bryan - who works with his Dad at the fire station. Maybe
that'll bring us luck. Small Ocean!!
How 'bout that. small world.
Awesome!
@@samsmith7150 thank. It was a good day. Not so much for the fish. Lol
awesome trip
@@ChrisEngrave definitely. Thanks for watching.
Awesome catch ❤❤❤
Thanks and thanks for watching.
Jackpole!
That was awesome 👏🏾👏🏿👏🏻👏🏽👏🏼
@@calvinoutdoors4846 thanks. It was a great day.
That’s a good day, and a long processing next day too. Well done. Any chance of a close up of the kill bag holder/rod rack?
A trip like this a boat can use a few more nets LOL
No kidding
Great video. Any tips for how to best convert a troll bite without losing the school? Do you attempt to convert every troll fish or only in certain situations? Would love to learn the technique to apply down here in CA
@@Stugots415 one fish usually means more so yeah we try to convert each troll fish with a bait stop. Hard to know where you are in relationship to a school so, sometimes if only the port rod goes off we'll turn sharp around portside and visa versa. Or circle back toward that one fish. But the wind tends to do more damage than anything else. Can blow you clean off the school. Or a break off fish can lean them away from the boat too.
This year - 2024? ?? Will be my first trip out of Westport - Where in are they selling the anchovies and ice?? Great video - thanks!
just last week. Ice is at Westpprt Bait Shop on Neddie Rose Dr. opens at 5AM. Anchovies, leave the ramp and turn ledt into the marina. Looknfor the Live Bait dock on the right.
@@Northwestfishingfanatics Thanks so much!!
nice job you guys killed it. looks like a home made bait tank? do you have a build video for that?
no video for it. Any food grade barrel will do. Just need an inlet line below the half way point with pump to fill, and outlet/overfow to drain from the top. The tricky part is getting water while moving. That's where the in-hull scoop comes in. It was nerve racking drilling a 1" hole through the hull on my boat...
What spinning rod are you using for live bait? Looks like an awesome day!
@@andersonj1each26 That one is a 7ft Shimano Talus 50-100lb.
@@Northwestfishingfanatics awesome thanks! Next goal is a spinning reel love bait bite but I need a spinning setup first. Hoping to put my new avet raptor to work at the WTC next week.
good luck
Hey I have a question , im trying to get out there for tuna as well do you think you can tell me what dock/place you get your live anchovies from at Westport ? Thanks
@@dimitryburlakov8220 At the bait dock in the marina. From the launch turn left and you'll see it on the right. Don't go out intobthe harbor.
@@Northwestfishingfanaticsthank you so much oh and one more thing can I get it anytime like let’s say at 5am or is there a specific time when they open
@@dimitryburlakov8220 we normally swing by there around 5:30.
What harbor did you come out of?
@@BlueWhaler17 Westport. Grays Harbor
where are you guys fishing?
60 miles West by Southwest of Westport Wa.
Leave the nose under water they wont run on you , gaf n drop back in water , 100 tuna in 6 hrs . Oh well
@@MISCIFMAKER We try not to attract Sharks. Thanks for watching.
Well your information is all wrong . there is a bag limit of 25 per person so maybe you should learn bag limits before saying anything
You know what makes you look stupid? Its when you leave a comment on someones video saying their information is all wrong.... When in WASHINGTON there in FACT is NO Bag limit on AlbacoreTuna.. LMAO... SO maybe you should know what you're talking about before telling someone else they dont know what they are talking about! 25 is Oregon, Westport is in Washington = No Limit. Thanks for watching.
No limit on Albacore in Washington. But thanks for watching, and learning.
No bag limit . Just checked
Talk about sticking your foot in your mouth.
Well, it looks like you had a killer day. But Im just starting out and have lots to learn from scratch. Your video explained virtually nothing about locations, tackle, depths, cleaning the fish, troll versus drift, fish finding, reels, etc. So it was entertaining, but not too informative. Do you have other videos that explain what you are doing, maybe more geared to beginner albacore fishing?
you are correct. typically my videos are for entertainment purposes but over time, if one pays close attention to what is being shown one can learn quite a bit. If you have specific questions I'd by glad to answer them.
