I was out there also. Excellent fishing this year. We ended the season with 21 kings and 21 silvers. Plug cut herring and a flasher worked all summer 100-175’ deep
Yeah, I believe they were! Is there a temp range you find them at more consistently? I’m kind of curious to try and catch more intentionally vs as by catch. Some people really love em
@@PNWBestLife I only caught them once at Nootka Sound, which was the same el nino water conditions. Ironically, my profile pic was a king I caught there that same weekend, that I caught the mackeral.
Awesome Video as usual! Love all the action! I see you use flasher releases. I use the Good Day Fishing release and find it to work well. A lot of people I talk to dont like them. What release do you use?
@@PNWBestLife cool i will check out the coldwater releases. I have the coldwater strong leaders and like them! Thank you for the info and thanks for putting out so much awesome content!
@@PNWBestLife I use even cheaper Shimano Scimitar rods for trolling, with noisy stainless guides but they're slow action and indestructible. I have an SST rod for jigging that I love, but the guide does pop out every now and then. G. Loomis E6X, or Islander if you want to get real fancy. I think St. Croix has a new "Onchor" rod for salmon trolling.

Was a beautiful thing!
Mackeral , Im assuming that the water temps might me a tad higher than normal. Thanks for video.

That’s cool. Yeah, gotta do some more research

👍👍👍
Time for nicer rods. The SST guides tend to pop easily.
Man, I do love me those cheap Okuma’s, so you suggest the Shimano’s?

I will have to check it out! I’ve had the okumas forever and they’re pretty durable. Some of these have been in service for 6 hard hitting seasons so…
@@PNWBestLife For sure. That's why I have a few and just live with the crappy guides XD
Great and fun video! I always look forward to your posts.
Might be a fast day in WA but looks like a slow day in AK 😎
