NPD is underdiagnosed because of the nature of the disorder. The DSM requires the narcissist to feel that their narcissism is causing distress in their lives. Most will never feel this, let alone feel that they need therapy. It’s their victims who feel distressed, not the narcissist, therefore evading diagnosis. Our society rewards narcissism.

Exactly. I hope the more we talk about it then the more people will see it in themselves and seek therapy. Years from now we should know alot more.

Maybe, Narcissism and NPD+ to 6-12/100 are, and it's on the rise. Internationally.
No longer 3:1, the last 25 years, or so; women have caught-up to Men, and "can be just as Dangerous" to your: mental, physical, emotional, economic and spiritual well being!

30 years in the field? Don't take his advice. Narcissist will NOT change and staying in a physically not abusive relationship can still destroy you both physically and mentally. Listen to Dr Ramani and H.G Tudor instead.

It’s proven that culture and trauma can contribute to these perception (self and other)/pattern disorders… so what can be DONE, can be UNDONE.
Looks like you’re into the shame based area of psychology-and that is ego, based on a sense of superiority. Yes, these behaviors are wrong and toxic and life-altering. However, shame is binding - both for the abuser and the abused. Growth mindset/spirituality needs to be included in psychology as it was based on the shame based judgment of religion. Be careful in fighting ego/evil you don’t become it--it’s a TRAP! Whether it’s the superiority side of ego or the inferiority side!
