    I watched a few videos on how to service my warn winch. All of them good but all of them it looked like they serviced a new winch. All parts inside was “perfect”. Mine looked exactly like yours with the bit of rust and all that. Just wanted to say thank for your video and all the detail you showed in it. My winch is now back together and working like a charm!

      Awesome! I really appreciate the kind comment. I watched other videos as well and you are spot on with them being like new. My winch was exactly like i said in the video. It sat for a long time, wasnt taken care of and was actually broken. I'm glad you found this video helpful.

    Thanks for sharing this information with us. Mine wouldn’t free wheel this hunting season when I had to clear a road of downed trees. Guess I know what I’m going to do thanks to you. Thanks again. Cheers.

      Thanks for commenting. I'm glad I could help. You can't let a faulty winch keep you from the thirty point buck!

    My winch cable is stuck like yours , I use the control and a click sometimes . I well do as you say and see what going on as my winch never been out in rain or snow then my dads damp Washington garage last year when I used it last. It then stored there 7 months before I could go the 1300 miles to get it . I hope this frees it up and also my control well then work reverse or forward . If you have any ideas please send to my email here Jacob. The solenoids look new - all connections great like new . The brushes in motor like new as it only as said been used in the last 6 years like 10 or 12 times . Thanks buddy . Was not happy got a free jeep and got my trailer hock up , to then pull the cable out on free - stuck and the darn control just clicks now and then. Plan B tow bar ,,,

      Thanks for commenting, that's an unfortunate issue. I would try what I did and pull the gear box apart. See if there's anything stuck and a good cleaning/regreasing should help it tremendously. If you get the cable and drum to turn freely and the engage/disengage lever works and it still just clicks, then you must have electrical issues. Which could be as simple as cleaning the connections for the controller plug and putting some dielectric grease on it as well as checking the power wires on the motor. Just get a good, clean connection on everything.
      Hopefully, you'll get it fixed, I think some fresh grease in the gearbox will help it.

    Great video basically all the same on my 9.5 cti.
    I’m curious on what you used for your degreaser?

      @@jak480 Thanks, I mostly use LA's totally awesome. Dollar General carries it, and I've always had good luck with it. www.dollargeneral.com/p/las-totally-awesome-all-purpose-concentrated-cleaner-refill-64-oz/722429640222?adpos=&scid=scplp&sc_intid=&PRODUCT_GROUP&Google_DGS_LIA_Cleaning_All_AllStores__Mobile+___SEM_StoreVisits_LIA&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwtNi0BhA1EiwAWZaANBPjte25yqypc4Uc-MGzzMMFgri3AXdaYuljHelDuRbXIoObdbvxtxoCrwkQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

    You actually need to use a grease designed for airplane use called Areoshell 64 or 33 that's what Warn says to use.
    Also you can purchase the whole end piece new cover, gear and new seal kit.

    • @JacobNovoselStudios
      @JacobNovoselStudios  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Southalabamaoutdoors Yep, I've heard good things about the Aeroshell. However, the research I did found out that basically any high-temp grease will work. I've used the winch quite a lot in the year and a half since, and it has worked flawlessly. If you want to spend the money and get specific stuff it might be better, but whatever you have is probably okay.

      @@JacobNovoselStudios best thing to get is a weather cover to keep the weather out till you need it. The seals on these winches is not great and water seeps in and rust forms..

    • @JacobNovoselStudios
      @JacobNovoselStudios  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Southalabamaoutdoors I would totally put a cover on it, but luckily I can store the jeep inside and I don't drive it in the rain or inclement weather. I really appreciate the tip. Thanks!

    I have a badlands winch which is stuck just like this one. Recon the procedure will be the same? Thanks, Phillip Hall

    • @JacobNovoselStudios
      @JacobNovoselStudios  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @PhillipHall01 I've never had any experience with a Badlands. However, it should be basically the same. I don't think the basic operation changes much between brands. Any pictures I've seen of gears in Badlands look very similar.
      Thanks for watching and commenting. I wish you the best of luck getting yours working.

      Jacob, not quite the same. I got the first cover off but could not get the main housing off. I did get it fixed though. I used a rubber mallot and bumped the lever several times moderately as not to break the lever and luckily the piece broke free. I suppose the rust hadn’t reached a severe point.
      I never found a video like yours explaining how to do it properly. Thanks again,
      Phillip Hall
