  • Long story short, this car is way worse than originally thought, but its about the same as the other chassis rust wise so we're going to patch it up the best we can and continue with the plan to swap the good stuff from the other chassis. This is by no means a perfect job but will be plenty solid and will probably out last the rest of the car.
    thanks for watching!

    Great work! Funny how you have to tell yourself that it hasn't have to perfect since you are a perfectionist 😂

      I’m no professional welder myself, but this is definitely the basics when it comes to welding in body work.
      Glad you enjoyed it!

    Hi guys, if your e46 is rusted like this I have two of those seat brackets that are half way rusted out in this vid. I salvaged them from an old car. Shoot me a message if you need one and we will work something out. Eventually I will post them on ebay. Cheers

    My convertible is rusted around the 2 rubber bungs in the rear footwells I couldn’t afford welding so I cut out the rot treated the area sealed metal plate in from inside and filled the hole with chemical metal sanded down and under sealed. No more wet rear carpets when it rains and looks pretty oem. I need to get the carpets out asap though to dry that foam before mine rots like yours.

      Yeah I kinda started to realize this once I checked the other car snd it was pretty much the same shape lol

    Its wet because of the vapor barier from the doors

    On the e90 they fitted plastic panels under the car for rust protection, it has the opposite effect by collecting road-salt, snow and ice in the winter weather and rustning the hole floor away, what where they thinking doing this 😢

    You didn’t remove the gas tank for welding, right? I’m about to weld the same place in my 328i caged driftcar and I don’t really want to get the tank out because it needs to be rolling in and out the garage everyday

    • @_nickscraig
      @_nickscraig  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nossir I never removed the gas tank for any of this welding! Just be sure there’s no leaks and keep your blower handy and you’ll be fine

    I have the same exact issue. Not to that extent but my hole is almost as big.

    damn the guy fleeced you man. any reason why the rust damage is so bad?

    • @_nickscraig
      @_nickscraig  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely been fleeced, and honestly not sure. Google says multiple things but seems like most commonly would be clogged or detached sunroof drains, not sure why the drivers back floor was so much worse than the others though either.

      This is the reason guys. happened with mine. when the window regulators get replaced, they never properly put the vaour barriers back which means condensation forms on the back of the door cards and drips onto the carpets.
