Patrick needs to back off. As middle class homeowners, we are being soaked. My taxes for a 53 year old track house have gone up by several thousand dollars in the last few years. He is talking about reducing by 700 bucks or so. Give me a break. Increase the sales tax...it is more equitable.

How about legalize marijuana instead. Would bring in millions of tax dollars to the state. I guarantee you if it was ever put on the ballot, majority of Texans would vote for it! But due to political reasons, it won’t happen!

Property tax should be a tax on the property. lower valued home pay less tax, higher valued home pay higher tax. Exemption should be only used for vulnerable groups.
Do you think applying sales tax exemption on cheap items selling in a store make sense?

The State could tax only structures, at, .003 -50 on common commercial building and residential, common, with depreciation including, govt local and State entities. The local jurisdictions can sales tax flat 0-10$ @ flat 1$ per 20$ sale etc. For law enforcement/ public works, plus 30% on orig price on exchanged goods. Tax dollars follow students, into a trust avoiding State or Federal funds , creating non governance toxic education centers currently subject to public charge ideology,
