Perfect timing for my finding your video. My coworker/mechanic diagnosed the rear seal on my Nissan Frontier transfer case. He told me exactly what your video shows. But he works on his driveway and isn't set up for doing it. And neither am I. Looks like I'll have to pay a regular mechanic to do it. Darn! Thanks for making it look easy. GO CUBS!!!!

Hi, great video thanks! I have a '99 Tahoe that is mildly leaking from the output seal on the rear transfer case. It only leaks while driving it and a little bit right after it's been driven. Thought about changing the seal myself, but a buddy told me it could be the bushings causing the leak and might be a little more difficult than just changing the seal. Any opinion on that? Thx!

Thanks so much for this video. It doesn't look very difficult at all. I have a 1999 Tahoe that is leaking in the same spot. What's weird is that it looks a little bit like chocolate milk, but I don't know if that's just because it's mixing with dirt as it runs down. The transmission fluid is clean when I check it. It's just transmission fluid leaking out, correct? Thx!

I just replaced my rear end and housing. After a couple hundred miles of mountain driving I lost my rear driveshaft. All the bolts that I touched including rear end input ujoint bolts were tightened and were still installed but I threw the entire driveline and completely lost the transfer case output yoke. Wondering what could have caused this. The truck does have a lift and I have been having some front suspension problems like with the sway bar keeps breaking the bolts.

When your U-joints are bad, that causes your tranfer case to wobble and shake everything (especially at higher speeds) thus causing wear to the seals over time. Replace your u- joints or you will keep replacing seals. Resolve the cause.

Bro look at your U-Joints.. I'm sure that's why you're having to replace your transfer case seal. When those U-joints are bad, your shaft wobbles. The shaft wobble making your seal wear and tear after while.

Hey Rick, I saw that you did not replace the bushing inside that transfer case. Did you experience a premature failure of the new seal? I got the same issue here with my G20 and I am a bit worried changing only the seal could cause the same issue soon again.

I'm just now replacing my output shaft seal for a 2nd time in 3 years and it's only been 10k miles. I wonder if that bushing your talking about has caused mine to go bad in that short amount of time.

Vincent Hill remove old seal and take to auto shop, of give the shop your truck info and they’ll get it for you; trust me, every truck is different , since this dude isn’t responding to you lol

What could cause the front and rear output shift seals to leak at the same time.

Bad U-joints. When your U-joints are bad, that causes your tranfer case to wobble and shake everything (especially at higher speeds) thus causung wear to the seals over time. Replace your u- joints.
