This is the same thing at the Moreno Valley mall in California. Its a mostly abandoned mall and there is hundreds of dusty brand new teslas sitting in the parking lot.
Honestly, they are most likely correct. Last year I waited for my car for 6 weeks and dealership showed no inventory on the web site but they had similar parking lot with like 100-200 cars that was waiting for people to pick them up. They said that they "deliver" like 50 cars every day and its done in certain hours that you have to schedule ahead of time. They do prep work before delivery and that might be a time constrain. On Monday they told me that my car arrived and ready but I scheduled delivery on Saturday to avoid taking day off from work. So my car was there for the whole week, I assume many cases like this. Parking lot in front of the dealership was reserved for visitors, service and delivery purposes, not for storage.
Why not report on the 100+ brand-new GM vehicles sitting in the parking lot less than 2000 feet away behind Prosets Premium Golf Club Rentals and that brand-new building that has been vacant since 2017 at 8740 E Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd? Maybe they should also report what happened to the 101 Live Entertainment Restaurant building, which houses all those GM brand-new vehicles.
That seems a bit strange. When my new Toyota pickup arrived at the dealer they had it ready the next day and I was there right after work to pick it up. It appears Tesla purchasers aren't in any hurry to get there new cars, or Tesla isn't in any hurry to clean them up and hand them over. Not a confidence inspiring situation.
They do batch deliveries due to transport restrictions. If you have to deliver 100 cars to customers once a week and they can only be shipped in once per week, those 100 cars have to be stored somewhere.
@acnva If that's the case, why are there comments saying these are waiting to be PICKED UP by their owners. Also there are supposed to be waiting lists for every model why the need for them to be stored. Surely if you have to be on a waiting list you'd want to pick it up ASAP.
This isn’t even news. I live in the Sacramento area. We have 3 delivery centers, and I was at one a few weeks ago, they delivered 103 cars on Saturday and 63 cars on Sunday. That’s just one dealer.
They're selling million of Tesla's. That means on a given day there around around 5000 Tesla's in transit. If you can get new owners scheduled to pick within 1 day, that's 5000 Tesla's in parking lots parked. Of course, not everyone can pick up in 1 day. Loans, insurance, license plates, scheduling around work and family events. Let's say it take an average of 5 days to settle everything. 25,000 Tesla's in parking lots waiting for owners to pick them up. I graduated high school so I can do this math.
They're literally trashed lol. No chance anyone is picking these up to buy. I just walked by the parking lot and noticed many had cracked windshields, scratches, dings/dents, faded hoods, faded tops, faded seats, dusty and stained interiors, broken headlights, broken mirrors, the list goes on. and yes, most are already rusting.
So people are making payments on vehicles that they have not received? That does not make much sense. If their payments don't start until the vehicle is delivered then there would be a great incentive to deliver those vehicles.
You don’t “make payments” until you pick it up. Once your delivery date is set you can delay a little, but eventually Tesla will “release” the car’s VIN so someone else can buy it off the website. In that event, Tesla also keeps the original orderer’s non-refundable $250.
It takes time to detail, do a pre delivery inspection, and then schedule the customer so paper work can be completed and orientation with the car. It’s not a pizza pick up.
I worked at a Toyota plant for 25 years. Every vehicle we produced was indeed SOLD as it was produced. Our vehicles were not parked at abandoned malls and vacant lots. They were immediately loaded on trains and trucks, and shipped out. Vehicles sitting idle in marshaling yards or mall parking lots cause TREMENDOUS overhead costs that an efficient and top selling brand will not tolerate. Tesla is over.
It was sold to a dealership and waited on a dealer lot. The average Toyota currently waits on a dealer lot for 70 days. Tesla considers a vehicle delivered when it's in the possession of the owner. It's days of inventory is below 20... Meaning Tesla has less than 1/3 the back log of cars per unit sold and the lowest delivery time frame. Ben Shapiro says it best. Facts don't care about your feelings.
Since Tesla doesn’t have cars sitting at dealers since they have none, this is irrelevant. I can’t tell you how many times I drive past a Toyota dealership and see 50+ cars on their lots.

Part of the fleet of RoboTaxis. Check back after Aug 8. Do note that for years tens of thousands of GM and Ford cars are stored in fields in Nebraska and New Jersey. Auto makers declare a vehicle “sold” when shipped from the factory to a dealer where it sits until bought by a customer. These cars are shipped to shell companies owned by GM and Ford who stores them but never moves them to dealers.
Actually, most cars are "sold" the Dealerships buy them unless the company has push of production or Fleet sales or a incentives push to get them out the factory.
@@obsideon1343 not exactly. Dealers use “floor plan financing” where the manufacturer loans the dealer the money to get the car on the dealer floor. So it’s all smoke and mirrors.
Tesla sells 20 days of inventory, the industry average is over 70 days. I'd say this lot clears and refills every 2 weeks is pretty good compared to dealer lots.
The "lots" turn over quickly. Once the deposit is paid the VIN is assigned, then all the other stuff happens (payment, verification, etc). Then they assign a delivery appointment and you pick up.
NMC Tesla's are 11x less likely to catch fire than gas cars. LFP Tesla's are 80x less likely than gas cars. But what do I know, I'm just using insurance data collected by IIHS. As someone with a lot of experience wiring up Li-Ion cells, I can definitely affirm that they simply cannot last more than ten years (at best). If anything, under the conditions those cells are under, the risk of thermal runaway increases with every year that passes. Li-Ion chemistry really wasn't intended for extreme heat or... well... collisions! 😕 I mean, a Lead-Acid cell isn't all fun and games when it's compromised, but I think a large portion of humanity now understands what happens when a Li-Ion cell is abused, damaged, or punctured. 💥🔥✨💨😵☠️

Tesla has no dealerships. Some of these cars or most would be for customers from out of state when they get time they would pick it up trsla only make vehicles after a customer make the down payment
More bad news for the parking-lot truthers. Tesla delivered 444,000 cars in Q2 with production at 411,000. Big draw down in inventories. It's a beat of every Wall Street estimate for Q2. ... Not to mention, Tesla Energy up 232%. In 2 years, Tesla Energy will be equal in size to it's car business.
Not sure why this is news… It’s pretty obvious they’re renting the space for new cars. I’ve never worked at a dealership but this is pretty common in most major cities.
Well you gotta understand, Tesla is a technology company, not a car company. They use their own tech to produce their very own car products that are mostly made from their own material, but they're not an actual car manufacture like Ford and Chevy is. That being said, Tesla owns their own retail stores which is why some states won't allow them to operate there because the company doesn't go by the franchise laws like standard dealerships do. My guess is this is also their way to cut costs, and to also make the buying process run more smoothly since most of the process is conducted online through a mobile app. The only time you would need to go to a Tesla Center, is if everything is already finalized and a delivery date is set for you to go pick up your car.
@@devengudinas1649not wrong. You have a scheduled pick up date when you purchase. More vehicles are shipped than than the Tesla center can accommodate. All of those vehicles in that lot are already sold, and awaiting customer prep and pickup.

@@hanzreynadoNo, the news is Tesla is lying about one of its main advantages...they AREN'T selling online only and they AREN'T selling every car they make.

Way too expensive to own, maintain, and lackluster in battery life.

Actually, it's showing the slowdown of the EV market or maybe even the end of it. The EV subsides are drying up combined with massive inflation and people realizing EVs are a sham. You don't actually believe what the employee said right? They're paid and forced to say that. Of course they're not going to admit they're unsold and unwanted cars, Elon would bury him alive if he said the truth.
This episode is disingenuous, sensationalistic entertainment for Luddites, and Elon haters. Make sure you watch to the end... they do get to the truth. Spoiler... they are ALL Sold and waiting for the owners... FUD
That view of the Tesla factory employee parking lot......zero Teslas.
Yeah, I think I saw an F150, or so...
Factory employees probably can’t even afford one
There’s lots like this in Downtown Dallas. Seems like a great way for these massive parking lots to make money. Owning a parking lot is BIG BUSINESS.
These cars are shipped to shell companies owned by GM and Ford who stores them but never moves them to dealers.
ahh , so Tesla has sold them to themselves, makes sense now. So still not actually sold to a person.
If these are already sold, then why not deliver them? I'd be really mad if my car that I now own is just sitting in a parking lot.
wait till you hear about dealerships!
The "lots" turn over quickly. Once the deposit is paid the VIN is assigned, then all the other stuff happens (payment, verification, etc). Then they assign a delivery appointment and you pick up.
@@OldDirtyRobot Cool. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

NMC Tesla's are 11x less likely to catch fire than gas cars. LFP Tesla's are 80x less likely than gas cars. But what do I know, I'm just using insurance data collected by IIHS. Insurance companies want you to buy a car that they will be forced to pay for. Right?
Pretty sure they only make money if you pay and nothing goes wrong.

What baffles me is it that people want to see the car company fail. Why???
Why did the news reporter cross the parking lot?

Some are, or at least they are waiting for the Non-FS edition.
I feel like in 10-15 years these things are just going to be bricks and worthless. I feel like theyre disposable cars or something.
Less than that. Those batteries will not last 10 years.

I don't see the summary - these are purchased cars that are not yet delivered.
PROBABLY sad but true they belong to customers.
Maybe because before Tesla was released, the model 3 was promised to be a $25,000 car obviously that's not the case. The cheapest Tesla now is $37,500
Same thing in vallejo california.. hundreds sitting and rotting away next to six flags
Evs sitting in the sun is a potential disaster waiting to happen.

When I was working in Austin at Tesla gigafactory I didnt see how we were getting the model 3 and y out the door. We were struggling hard daily with quality having to pull 50 cars+ both shifts off the line, let alone start production on the cybertruck.
New owners as in buyers people read in between the lines, they’re are considering the cars sold in order to store the cars.
Tesla has no dealerships. Some of these cars or most would be for customers from out of state when they get time they would pick it up trsla only make vehicles after a customer make the down payment
That’s a lie.
Btw in Germany is happening the same. Teslas are dropped on abandoned WWII airport. All sold 😂
Probably too hazardous to crush, what with them spontaniously combustible batteries they have.
News should monitor how long it takes for any of those cars to move to a delivery center.
That would take actual reporting and time. Why do that when you can just put Tesla in the title, say anything, and rake in the clicks.
This is the first and last time i watch a video from this channel
Not sure why this is news…
It’s pretty obvious they’re renting the space for new cars. I’ve never worked at a dealership but this is pretty common in most major cities.
It’s how they build up demand. If they had them on the sales lot it would show inventory
Looks like Tesla needs an actual dealership 😂
Why?
re: "Looks like Tesla needs an actual dealership..." ikr...? what a crazy concept.
@@AngelTechno wait so you can’t test drive a Tesla at their store even?
Happens with other brands as well. Bunch of Honda's parked in a dead mall's massive parking lot near me.

They been doing this like forever, all those Teslas are sold.

Wrong
@@devengudinas1649not wrong. You have a scheduled pick up date when you purchase. More vehicles are shipped than than the Tesla center can accommodate. All of those vehicles in that lot are already sold, and awaiting customer prep and pickup.

egg on the haters face. hahaha. they all thought the Teslas are abandoned. little did their tiny bird brain knew it was already sold tesla to be delivered to their new owners. Haters gonna hate. Losers gonna keep losing.
I don’t understand why people have to be so negative, obviously there are many factors that prevent these cars from selling right now but that doesn’t make them bad cars. They’re probably the best car you can buy for the price
Pretty much Tesla sold so much that owners could not pick them up fast enough. Exact opposite of what many thinks.
Just go to any mall in the Bay Area. Those parking lots are filled with Teslas too.
They're sold and waiting for their owners to pick them up?
Yea right.
