To the owner, if you want to make this thing handle, do not lower the front end. Lowering these cars destroys the bump steer due to the position of the steering rack and the tie rods. They need 3.5 degrees of negative camber or more in the front, and do whatever you can to give it as much castor as humanly possible. The rear suspension is just extremely poorly designed, and the fix is to just run springs so stiff that it doesn't work. It's not uncommon to see rear spring rates in the 40k and 50k range on the DC5 race cars running in race groups that won't allow you to redesign the rear suspension mounting points. Also, it needs an oil pan that will prevent the oil from going up the timing chain cover. The drop in pan baffles do nothing because the issue is not oil going away from the sump, but oil running up the timing chain cover on left hand turns. I had a drop in oil pan baffle and would drop from 6 bar of oil pressure to 2 bar of oil pressure on left turns. With a Toda oil pan, I saw absolutely zero pressure drop. And happy birthday!
Same with the EP3 but we used rack risers and it completely eliminated it. I believe the same one fits the DC5 and basically It’s the same car underneath.
@@Itsallfun3000 These have Brembo in the front, and the Type R rear calipers are different from the standard caliper as they're aluminum and designed to hold more fluid. With that said, they also have fairly effective OEM brake ducts up front, and I'm sure that helped a lot.
Why Misha's Honda video always gets lots of views? Because he always use every potential rpm there is, and make VTEC sing its' beautiful song around the 'ring. Love this one, the car absolutely sings perfectly! Apparently the (!) light is related to oil pressure according to some comments? That better be look at, don't wanna hurt the engine.
It's the handbrake I believe! On some of the harder corners you can see it come up mid corner and then watch his arm move and disengage it as the light goes off.
Nice drive. 6th gear is like an overdrive for better mpg in daily commuting, but the gear ratio on the first five go well, though it did seem like safe mode kicked in at the change up.
@viruxer I hear you. I had my e46 m3 holding 7900rpm in fourth up that same hill and just held her there. She did it lap after lap. I just felt the owner was doing the rev counter check a few times and was a bit nervous :)
I seen that visual sigh of relief as soon as Misha let off the throttle 😮💨🤣 Trust, they'll take it. I stupidly bought a High milage EP3 Si with the dog K20 that made like 160hp (same chassis as this practically), drove the hell out of it with just oil changes for 4yrs getting it up to 260k miles, then someone offered me a trade (my interior alcantera/suede was trashed prior to me getting it, there was rust bubbles, it wasn't pretty, clear coat failing all over) so I traded it out..... the dude I gave it to is STILL driving it, and drives it way more than I ever did, and he's constantly beating on it... I at least only _occasionally_ beat it lol.... I don't think it's ever going to die 😅
Mega car, lovely lap 👌 Interesting watch for me - Misha’s feedback to my lap in the GP2 with the same AD08RS tyres was excessive understeer with minimum steering input. Now on Cup2’s which transformed the car. Get those AD08RS’s in the bin! 😂 A bit of toe out in the rear may also help you out if you’re maxed out on camber up front.
The best we had in the states was the RSX-S, which I once did 140mph in a friend's factory fresh one. They weren't particularly light compared to other Honda products, but they always seemed like well-built cars to me for their segment.
Just a notice, is that oilpressure warning that are shown in some curves. Could be worth mentioning to owner than. I guess you really want oil all around at 8700rpm! :-)
@@TranceFuryes I think you are right. Its a circle with two arcs which might represent caliper and carrier at left and right and in the centre what looks like a stylized exclamation mark but might represent a disc.
It's the parking brake light. The three most plausible explanations are: low fluid (I'm sure they would have checked before going full send on the 'ring), loose fluid level sensor connections (I've had a few Hondas where the brake fluid level sensor connectors would try to disconnect themselves in turns), and the parking brake up switch is loose (also very plausible).
Gacchiri support ( good ones like Nagisa Auto garage ) + increased rear ARB combo is the most fantastic and cost efficient mod you can do to any FWD 80-00 Honda to improve handling

Is the nervous behaviar of the speedometer normal, the RPM's are so shaking?! @Misha Its hart to listen your talking while driving. Maybe extra mics for you and the passenger are a solution?
Diff and output shaft is Final drive, you can change to make gear ratio longer or shorter, I changed 5th gear in my hondas to lower revs when motorway cruising
The diff ratio between the output shaft and the diff ring gear. 5.1 would be "short", which gives it more acceleration, and higher revs for the top speed. But his 6th gear looked very "long" or "tall" so it bogged down anyway up top.
It means the highest gear. Usually it would be an overdrive, but he said 5th is 1 so it's one to one gear. No overdrive keeps the gears shorter for low end torque and then you rev it out to get your top speed. This is all stock so it's not going to have enough power to tap out an overdrive gear. It would only be useful for fuel economy on the highway.

This and this a million times! Great post.
lowering the front is okay as long as you get extended ball joints to raise the hub back up. Best fix though is to sell it and get a dc2
There are bump steer correction kits for the dc5 if he wants to lower it and still have good geometry in the front.

Destroying bump steer is a good thing 😁
