    I think the zero relationship between IQ and industriousness is because higher IQ, everything is easier from early age. I have a 145 IQ and school was a walk in the park for me until I was 18. When I entered a top college it was the first time in my life when I was presented information with such complexity that I didnt understand the concepts right away. I had NEVER studied in my life. Thats a huge disadvatage because all other students had to study since middleschool maybe or before, so I needed to start studing and coping with the process of learning through patience. If you need to learn how to learn as an adult, believe me, motivation is zero. So the intelligence awareness of planning is mitigated by this I believe.

    The presentation of facts about I.Q. will always get people ducking, diving, denying, and searching for alternative explanations. Anything to avoid acknowledging that I.Q. tests accurately measure a human trait that correlates highly with various life outcomes. They don’t like fever, so they blame the thermometer.

      I'd argue that personality is a function of intelligence.
      The personality of someone whose IQ drops significantly (due to a brain injury for example) can be altered significantly.
      So we're still left with the question of why high IQ =/= industriousness.
      Perhaps it's linked more to upbringing, and habits developed (and encouraged) in early life.

I think being somewhat gifted IQ wise, could help you in school and your career and social life, but it can be harmful if you're in the extremes of IQ, such as Bobby Fischer, or Nikola Tesla, who were both known to be quite weird, and not have a good social life.

(Graham modestly included himself among the select worthies.) The idea was to help women produce babies of genius by giving them the very best sperm modern science could provide. His point of view is controversial whereas it's somehow narrow-minded.. There might be plenty of highly intelligent individuals but haven't discovered their potential yet due to poor luck. IQ is not a solely factor for success, prosperity or health. Besides, I wouldn't know what IQ has got to do with one's health either. You could have a high IQ but still suffer from a chronic disease. There is no such thing as ''Health Quotient''.
    Does he even tell the truth or fool us? I have never heard of a such radical viewpoint about someone's IQ. So does that mean when you have an average IQ, should you surrender to a 9 to 5 job and waste 45 years of your life? Will that determine your worth, health, success? No, absolutely not. Life is full of endless possibilities and you can still achieve a high degree, a prosperous life and so on by working hard. YOU ARE capable off understanding things. All you need is passion and motivation.
    No matter how high your IQ is, you still have to work towards your goals and even harder. He portrays a high IQ as a superhuman power.... Like... I am actually astounded yet very shocked:
    -Bearing disgust
    -Immune to PTSD
    -Cancer free
    And there is also.. ''to be a lion'' (which means be dominant and assertive)..... that only depends on the circumstances or else you'll put yourself in trouble. Ever since he gave an absurd opinion on the palestine and israeli conflict with: "Give em hell" ; I started to loathe his whole attitude. Go and read more about such topics. Use multiple sources of knowledge. He is not the only psychiatrist/psychologist in the world like an omniscient. - "Does he even tell the truth or fool us?"
      Anyone with an iota of intellect can validate the information he provides. Just because you wanna cope with having subpar cognition doesn't mean the facts he provides are incorrect.
      The rest of your comment is just pure cope. No one said IQ is the sole predictor of success. Conscientiousness, openness, disagreeableness and all other personality traits are correlated with success. In colloquial terms, how hardworking, confident and stress tolerant you are also influence your success rate.
      - "No matter how high your IQ is, you still have to work towards your goal and even harder."

      - "He portrays IQ as a superhuman power."
      It kind of is. Comparing someone with an IQ of 80 to someone with an IQ of 140 is like comparing a child with a well educated fully developed adult. People with high IQ are MUCH more efficient problem solvers. They learn stuff FAR quicker.
      To give you an idea, a person with an IQ of 180 has the potential to do a high college course in less than a year. A person with an IQ of 90 might NEVER.

      You clearly don't know what JP meant by that "Give em hell" comment. Go out there and ACTUALLY find out. Because he has cleared what he meant.
      You're also committing the circumstantial ad hominem fallacy. In essence, your argument structure is incorrect.

      To give you an idea, a person with an IQ of 180 has the potential to do a high college course in well less than a year. A person with an IQ of 90 might NEVER.
      - "Ever since he gave an absurd opinion on Palestine and Israel, I have begun to hate his attitude."
      You clearly don't know what JP meant by that "Give em hell" comment. Go out there and ACTUALLY find out. Because he has cleared what he meant.
      You're also committing the circumstantial ad hominem fallacy. In essence, your argument structure is incorrect.
      - "Go and read more about such topics. Use multiple sources of knowledge."
      Take your own advice. You're the clearly the less-than-knowledgeable bloke here.

    When someone openly states their IQ in public it's pretty safe to assume they are significantly exaggerating their IQ score. Real geniuses don't go around bragging about how smart they are, unless they have some mental issues. Jordan openly claims his IQ is 150. I challenge Jordan to take a very public IQ test issued by a professional with no skin in the game. Based on his need to quickly resort to nonsensical word salads when arguing with or debating someone, I guessing his IQ is around 110 or so...slightly higher than average.

      I fully agree with your comment about real geniuses not needing to brag about their IQ.
      But I disagree with your assessment of Dr. Jordan Peterson.
      In all the videos I've watched of him, I have only once heard him mention his IQ being north of 150, according to an official test, and only because he was ASKED about it. And he answered candidly, but with a sense of humor - indicating an understanding that proclaiming one's IQ is indeed not all that important for someone who has better things to talk about. He has also been open about which type of intelligence he is weaker at.
      The IQ of 110 that you're suggesting is far too low. People with an IQ of 110 cannot analyze the way he does (especially conceptually). Just being a professor already typically means being closer to 130. His IQ being 150+ sounds spot on for him.
      He does NOT "resort to nonsensical word salads" to look smart, as people who are insecure about their IQ might. This analysis of yours is much more suited to a pseudo-intellectual like Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
      Peterson, on the other hand, is well-read so he has a large and jargon-rich vocabulary, but he also uses a great deal of logic in his analyses, built up step-by-step., with pauses taken in between to really think about his answers.
      While I mostly agree with Peterson's viewpoints, I don't agree with ever single thing he says, but I can always appreciate the logic he expresses on the way to his conclusions.

    You can bet that Jordan thinks he has a very high intelligence quotient. “I was Jordan Peterson’s strongest supporter. Now I think he’s dangerous. He wanted to establish a church, he said, in which he would preach every Sunday.”

      That’s the first thing I thought when I heard this guy lol,you can just tell he thinks he’s a super intelligent guy. It’s probably why he likes to compare high IQ and low IQ people, and say all these amazing things about high IQ people and how they can do all these things better, because he probably thinks all those things apply to himself. Actually he probably wouldn’t even be doing all these high IQ talks about being super intelligent an shit if he didn’t think he had one. 😂

      Years ago, I read a book that was written by a man whose brother was told that he had a low IQ. I don't remember the title of the book, or the exact words, but I do remember the gist of the quote by the brother who was labeled as having a low IQ, and it went somewhat as follows ... "Because of what we don't know, we are all dumb."

      You do realize that there's a host of propaganda to make Dr. Jordan Peterson look like something he's not? Especially from the University of Toronto. Because he actually thinks and has views which challenge the corrupt and failing systems. Furthermore, he doesn't THINK he has a very high IQ - he factually does. He's not trying to pretend he's intelligent, he IS actually intelligent, and it just shows naturally, he's not trying to flaunt it.

    Utter nonsense. Wealth gives you access to resources that poor people never have. Unless you're suggesting a middle class person gets access to wealth or iq in which case take iq you're already doing ok if you are middle class and have access to enough resources to make something of yourself. Being born in actual poverty though? Not a chance in hell would I choose iq over wealth because I know exactly how it turns out and it does not turn out well

    • @TheEc1ypse
      @TheEc1ypse 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      By “better off” I don’t think he means just wealth. People assume that whenever someone says “better off” or “successful” that they are talking about materialistic possessions. Think about someone born into wealth. By the age of 40, they might not feel like they have a purpose compared to someone who was born into the middle class but is very intelligent.

    • @RenegadeContext
      @RenegadeContext 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @TheEc1ypse wealth leaves you better off than IQ. Wealth gives you safety, iq does not. Wealth gives you resources, iq does not. Wealth gives you opportunities that iq alone will not.
      If you're middle class then yes iq is better than being wealthier than middle class but if you are living in poverty you use 100% of your energy staying safe. Iq alone will not get you out of that you need money. Poor people don't have access to education unless they are insanely lucky in a variety of areas in their life. Getting out of poverty is profoundly difficult no matter how smart you are

    • @TheEc1ypse
      @TheEc1ypse 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Again, wealth is not everything. I'd rather be "getting by" with a loving family than wealthy with no one. If I can get both great but if I had to choose I wouldn't choose wealth. When your on your death bed, your regrets won't be of not making enough money, they'll be of not investing more into your relationships.

    • @RenegadeContext
      @RenegadeContext 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @TheEc1ypse you're assuming that poor people have loving families. You talk like someone who has never lived real poverty. It's easy to romanticise when you have never experienced it. Most people living in poverty don't have idealised families because those families are living in survival mode.

    • @RenegadeContext
      @RenegadeContext 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @TheEc1ypse if you think getting by is middle class then yeah getting by to poor people is matter of survival. You have no idea what you are talking about
