The term "IQ" is quite heavy, historically it's been used to somewhat accurately determine cognitive ability and more. But now I believe that the mordenized "IQ" concept is a media hoax used to get views from people who are interested in 'intelligence' but truth is non of us are Nikola Tesla(god given) tier. As human beings, our biggest mission should be to study the life of Jesus Christ while trying to make a decent living.

I've never seen Jordan be more egregiously wrong on a topic; he is flat out incorrect and without basis on nearly every example he gave in this video of why emotional intelligence is insignificant. First and foremost, it was not "invented by a journalist". The term first appeared in a research paper written by Peter Salovey (then president of Yale University) and John D. Mayer, Salovey's graduate student. Daniel Goldman, who wrote the seminal work on emotional intelligence in 1995 has a PhD in clinical psychology from Harvard and has been a research psychologist for many decades. This is not a contrived term and the book is based on his long periods of clinical research. Everything that follows in Jordan's commentary after that comment is also purely speculative. Emotional intelligence is not in any way merely agreeableness. This is a terribly misleading snippet.

Who gets to decide on the metrics that define one's status? Won't most of the evaluations be highly subjective, so that one's status is going to depend on the perspective of the evaluator?

One of the rare occassions i must disagree with Peterson. IQ is not everything. A couple of the smartest kids in my school ended up as junkies. They were geniuses getting insane results on tests with little studying and yet they lacked any emotional capacity to withstand any type of hardship and it ruined their lives. Being able to manage and regulate yourself is as if not more important than just having a high iq (not that i dismiss the numerous merits of having a high IQ offers).

When someone openly states their IQ in public it's pretty safe to assume they are significantly exaggerating their IQ score. Real geniuses don't go around bragging about how smart they are, unless they have some mental issues. Jordan openly claims his IQ is 150. I challenge Jordan to take a very public IQ test issued by a professional with no skin in the game. Based on his need to quickly resort to nonsensical word salads when arguing with or debating someone, I guessing his IQ is around 110 or so...slightly higher than average.

Why are they suffering? I think I’m an introvert because as a kid a dreamed of seeing the world so I dissected my cat. Then they said I was crazy but I told everyone in advance that I wanted to see the world. They thought I meant to travel and fly around. I said that doesn’t make any sense because I can’t see anything from way up there and the clouds and stuff get in the away. Honestly people don’t know how relatively stupid they are and if you avoid conversations with stupid people or lazy people they think you’re introverted but there the extroverts are in the nullspace. There is no substance in the minds of people who talk too much. I would rather study and go to school or exercise and make things than sit on the school bus goofing off and looking out the window. That’s what extroversion and introversion is. I want to be on the school bus to go to school and not just drive around. It’s the same comments as people who don’t want to study physics or science to become a better driver or even a pilot and say they have to learn by doing. That’s not how it works. You don’t learn from experience and you are not extroverted. You are stupid. An f-16 pilot can’t just jump in a plane and know fluid mechanics. They have to do a ton of ground school.

I like this Peterson, he's incredibly well turned out, wonderfully preened, sort of like a wonderful bird, an exotic bird, the sort of bird an Emperor might have in his botanical garden.

Imaging having had Dr. Jordan Peterson as your teacher before that woke ass university kicked him out for being too "radical" aka having a different opinion than being leftist and woke (had an awful time on university because of that too; it's like they only hire woke professors. Sometimes they would made fun of non-woke people, aka radical people in their minds, but if you did say something normal about not agreeing with something woke you'd get in trouble for being "radical"). My family of origin is totally tragic and toxic. I am 70yo, know i am odd and a terrible narcissist, and my three older siblings, all terrible narcissists and all of us are sick loner singles. Sadly, my parents fought often, and seldom showed love for each other. And, they discouraged us from dating and marrying. I feel so cursed, as i wanted to be close to some lady and marry, but God has not allowed me to marry, as i am simply an unfit adult child i a big male body. I have been trying to recover for decades. Since i didnt date until llate 20s really, my first girlfriend ended her life, when i was 27. I date a fair amount just as platonic friends, in my 30's and 40's but all the good ones are married or have SO's. I get tired of married people putting down singles, and they need to realize, that many people wanted to marry, badly, but fate , or GOD said no. Sick of the guilt trips like, "Why aren't you married?"

I think the zero relationship between IQ and industriousness is because higher IQ, everything is easier from early age. I have a 145 IQ and school was a walk in the park for me until I was 18. When I entered a top college it was the first time in my life when I was presented information with such complexity that I didnt understand the concepts right away. I had NEVER studied in my life. Thats a huge disadvatage because all other students had to study since middleschool maybe or before, so I needed to start studing and coping with the process of learning through patience. If you need to learn how to learn as an adult, believe me, motivation is zero. So the intelligence awareness of planning is mitigated by this I believe.

In my experience I’m drawn to people based more on how they make me feel than how they rank in looks/finance. Don’t get me wrong those things matter, but I’d much rather date an average looking, average earning person who makes me feel safe and loved, than a rich, mega hottie that I feel is constantly scanning for other options, wondering if they could do better

Unless you're suggesting a middle class person gets access to wealth or iq in which case take iq you're already doing ok if you are middle class and have access to enough resources to make something of yourself. Being born in actual poverty though? Not a chance in hell would I choose iq over wealth because I know exactly how it turns out and it does not turn out well

High IQ doesn't guarantee one will become industrious. Suppose an individual got through school with all 'As' and hardly ever cracking a book. He might assume the real world will reinforce laziness the same way as the academic one. Therein lies his downfall.
