I don't understand why grown-ass women are being so petty! I'm a woman in my late 30's and BJDs are a very small part of my existence. I'm too busy getting ready to start a Masters, and enjoying my life to be worried about what someone else is buying. As long as no one deceives me when I buy something from them, then it is none of my business. These people need something to fill the witch hunting time they've been using to bully others.

It’s a doll. I don’t have any recasts. This whole recast issue came about as I was stopping my pursuit of the bjd hobby. I used to think I was pro- Artist, but honestly, I don’t care. It’s too much effort and energy to concern myself. At the end of the day, people need to mind their own.
I have always wanted a BJD when I was in elementary. My parents couldn't buy me even the smallest BJD because my family just can't afford it. Now that I'm working already, I still can't afford a legit one. I fell in love with a specific BJD and I wanted to save up for him, but the thing is he is already out of stock and production has stopped already. I then discovered that that doll is being recasted and my father has offered to buy him for me. I was unaware that owning a recast is very much frowned upon the hobby. But I don't want to care. I have always dreamt of owning one and it's special to me because my dad bought him for me. I can't wait for him to arrive.
You helped me get my confidence back. I was so worried to show my doll off cause I bought him not knowing if he was a recast and I didn't want people to categorize me as a "terrible pro recastor" thank you for helping me understand that there are some people who mind their own business and don't attack people over a doll.

Akuto Harper honestly, you will likely find that the majority of people really just do not care either way. Problem is the few who literally live their life via Den of Angels desperately wanting to fit in and be accepted so they go over the top with the entire recast thing in an attempt to make themselves out to be some kind of pro-artist hero. They crave that pat in the back from those they want acceptance from. Very high school clique behaviour. Because they like to be loud and vocal, the stand out more. So many hypocrites amongst that group though....love to dress their ‘legit’ dolls in trademark infringed Adidas clothing, but then claim that is ok because Adidas is a big company. Pretty sure that Adidas would NOT agree one bit with that sentiment. Really truthfully, they think it is ok because it fits their narrative plain and simple. I have to wonder how many of them walk around with fake LV bags🙄🤦♀️. At the end of the day, the issue is not the buyers. It is the recasters. They are the ones committing a crime. By all means, go after them. But going after a buyer is just ridiculous. I used to work for LV. As for your question about quality, I know first hand (yes I own a recast. . .or two) and the quality is just as good or better from the site I buy from. ~ I just bought a doll for a friend of mine whose husband f***ed her over and destroyed her life, including turning her kids against her and locking her out of her own house. She has always liked my dolls, but never owned one herself. I couldn't afford to buy her a legit at this time, so I bought her a recast. She was so happy, she cried. She fully intends to buy a legit someday, but for now she has something to take her mind off her shitty life. Oh, and plus a recast got here in only 2 weeks, as opposed to months like most of the legits I own. That was also part of the reason, because she needed to be cheered up NOW!

I love this video so much! I bought my first bjd on ebay last month and it's coming in a few days. It's an Iplehouse petdoll. I tried getting advice from someone from the community on instagram and the first thing they did was attack me about buying a doll off ebay for $99. I'm 17 with a part-time job. My mom is a single mother with 3 kids. My dad doesn't pay child support. So, buying my doll was super special to me. The person kept sending me links and saying that I should have been smarter about the purchase. It had really put a downer on my experience but this video is making me really happy and is giving me hope. When I told the person about the instagram I made for my doll she told me to make it clear that my bjd is a recast. I obviously will appreciate my doll and will never ever put myself or my dolls in a category. ❤️

Very well said! Found your channel a few days ago and your Instagram 💜 There’s just no need for all of the hatred and negativity in this hobby. Like you said, lot of people need this hobby as a way to de-stress and to make life a little bit happier! I personally will never own a recast but I have lots of dolly friends who do and I support and love their dolls whether they are legit or recast.
I own both, but I love them all. I have children, which means I am broke the majority of the time. Lol I can't always throw down the big bucks for legit, nor can I always find the dolls I want unless I hit the recast zone. Neutral doll owners like myself do the same shit. We spoil our dolls with goodies, learn new crafts to create for them, and enjoy them just as much as anyone else. I have a recast/legit neutral group on FB and it is filled with amazing people, and as a neutral zone there is never any legit vs. recast conversation because like you, we just don't give a fuck. I have been wanting to get into the hobby for many years. I NEVER got into it with tears and quiet depression that I could never start the hobby because of the judgement against cheaper options like recasts. I finally one day SCREW IT!! I just wanna start and be happy!! I got wigs to weft! Clothes to sew! Faceups and blushes to paint!! I’ve always been too poor to get “reputable” authentic casts, as badly as I wish to support official artists (for the record, I only have one resin doll, and focus mainly on MH/EAH/RH rebuilds for budget). But, as a new doll hobbyists, what are we supposed to practice faceups and blushing on? Its honestly entirely too much gatekeeping and prejudice for a craft hobby…I don’t “belong” in bjd FB groups because I can’t afford a $400 doll body? a $200 head? Fine then. I’ll just hone my craft and save to make my OWN doll bodies. I wish you were the overwhelming popular opinion.

I really loved this, and needed to hear this. Lately I’ve been feeling so torn between the philosophy of supporting artists vs the accessibility of art, but then you think about the stuff like the clothes we wear, technology we have, and other products we buy, because everyone is always ripping each other off to further their bottom line because capitalism don’t give a shit. And then when it comes to environmental issues, Mother Nature doesn’t care if your hunk of polyurethane resin is legit or recast- it’s all plastic that won’t biodegrade in a thousand years. It’s all about scope and choosing our battles. I look at BJD hobby drama and all I see is a very niche version of the workers fighting amongst themselves while the elite rich ruling class point and laugh. Makes me sad and embarrassed sometimes.

LOUDER !! i'm 21 and i currently only have a very small job that does not pay me enough, and i don't want to ask my parents or brothers for money because they don't have that much either. yesterday night i ordered my very first doll and i picked it solely by the design. i even checked through reverse image search whether the pictures were taken from somewhere else and i didn't find anything so i couldn't care less - this doll had the face i really wanted and it was pretty cheap and on sale so i just went for it! judging by the price it must be a recast but i've seen recasts that look better than the real thing so i don't even know if i'll become a collector, i just want one doll to make clothes and wigs for because i love fashion design but also art, so i could use the poses as references and maybe turn my favorite characters into dolls same hypocrites probably downloaded music to their mp3's or still do

I would go for it, both companies no longer exist anymore so I don't see the harm in it, and the people that do sell these dolls charge $500 just for the damn head

When the admin saw a pic of my recast doll with her Smartdoll sis, she sent me a pm asking me if my doll is recast (she wasn't even sure), coz they only accept legit doll pics. I didn't think twice, I deleted all the picture posts I made of Mirai and left the group. If they are playing segregationist type, I don't wanna be part of their group. I would never be part of groups who thinks my doll isn't worthed and shits like that. She is my doll and I love her just the way she is, coz she makes me happy, she saves me from depression and sadness. All this dolls, their job is to give us joy and fun times, nothing different than that. The whole recast war is no more then elitism. Through the years, it damaged the hobby more then it done good. It ripped the whole BJD world apart. Leave it to the companies to go to the judge if they dont like it. But brands like Soom and Fairyland and others dont care about it. But there is another crack in the BJD world i experienced a few times. Expensive brands versus cheap brands...... I have cheap brands like Angel of Dream and Resinsoul, even a Mirodoll (the horror) so some still say i never been really "in"..... bullshit! Thats it? Nope.... I have a Little Monica Crow, oeps.... a semi-expensive brand, so i am almost "in". The boy has a girlfriend in his story line. She is a..... Mirodoll / B&G mix. And believe it or not, i met people who told me i was not allowed to mix high-end brand with low end brands because that was not done in the BJD world....... So a cheap doll like Mirodoll is a kind of semi recast? This kind of idiots are pretty much exclusive to the BJD hobby. And last years more and more brands disappeared, resellers and dealers disappeared. In the end of the day, this war started by DoA will end the BJD hobby. Thanks DoA.....

As for your question about quality, I know first hand (yes I own a recast. . .or two) and the quality is just as good or better from the site I buy from. ~ I just bought a doll for a friend of mine whose husband f***ed her over and destroyed her life, including turning her kids against her and locking her out of her own house. She has always liked my dolls, but never owned one herself. I couldn't afford to buy her a legit at this time, so I bought her a recast. She was so happy, she cried. She fully intends to buy a legit someday, but for now she has something to take her mind off her shitty life. Oh, and plus a recast got here in only 2 weeks, as opposed to months like most of the legits I own. That was also part of the reason, because she needed to be cheered up NOW!

I love this video so much! I bought my first bjd on ebay last month and it's coming in a few days. It's an Iplehouse petdoll. I tried getting advice from someone from the community on instagram and the first thing they did was attack me about buying a doll off ebay for $99. I'm 17 with a part-time job. My mom is a single mother with 3 kids. My dad doesn't pay child support. So, buying my doll was super special to me. The person kept sending me links and saying that I should have been smarter about the purchase. It had really put a downer on my experience but this video is making me really happy and is giving me hope. When I told the person about the instagram I made for my doll she told me to make it clear that my bjd is a recast. I obviously will appreciate my doll and will never ever put myself or my dolls in a category. ❤️

Like you said, lot of people need this hobby as a way to de-stress and to make life a little bit happier! I own both, but I love them all. I have children, which means I am broke the majority of the time. Lol I can't always throw down the big bucks for legit, nor can I always find the dolls I want unless I hit the recast zone. Neutral doll owners like myself do the same shit. We spoil our dolls with goodies, learn new crafts to create for them, and enjoy them just as much as anyone else. I have a recast/legit neutral group on FB and it is filled with amazing people, and as a neutral zone there is never any legit vs. recast conversation because like you, we just don't give a fuck. I NEVER got into it with tears and quiet depression that I could never start the hobby because of the judgement against cheaper options like recasts. I finally one day SCREW IT!! I just wanna start and be happy!! I got wigs to weft! Clothes to sew! Faceups and blushes to paint!!
I’ve always been too poor to get “reputable” authentic casts, as badly as I wish to support official artists (for the record, I only have one resin doll, and focus mainly on MH/EAH/RH rebuilds for budget). But, as a new doll hobbyists, what are we supposed to practice faceups and blushing on? Its honestly entirely too much gatekeeping and prejudice for a craft hobby…I don’t “belong” in bjd FB groups because I can’t afford a $400 doll body? a $200 head? Fine then. I’ll just hone my craft and save to make my OWN doll bodies.

I really loved this, and needed to hear this. Lately I’ve been feeling so torn between the philosophy of supporting artists vs the accessibility of art, but then you think about the stuff like the clothes we wear, technology we have, and other products we buy, because everyone is always ripping each other off to further their bottom line because capitalism don’t give a shit. And then when it comes to environmental issues, Mother Nature doesn’t care if your hunk of polyurethane resin is legit or recast- it’s all plastic that won’t biodegrade in a thousand years. It’s all about scope and choosing our battles. I look at BJD hobby drama and all I see is a very niche version of the workers fighting amongst themselves while the elite rich ruling class point and laugh. Makes me sad and embarrassed sometimes.

yesterday night i ordered my very first doll and i picked it solely by the design.
i even checked through reverse image search whether the pictures were taken from somewhere else and i didn't find anything so i couldn't care less - this doll had the face i really wanted and it was pretty cheap and on sale so i just went for it! judging by the price it must be a recast but i've seen recasts that look better than the real thing so
i don't even know if i'll become a collector, i just want one doll to make clothes and wigs for because i love fashion design but also art, so i could use the poses as references and maybe turn my favorite characters into dolls

I'm pro artist, but if it's a sculpt that's not only discontinued but what if nobody is selling dolls made by Dream of Doll or Cerberus Project?? I would go for it, both companies no longer exist anymore so I don't see the harm in it, and the people that do sell these dolls charge $500 just for the damn head

We need the world to be a better place, and for that, ppl need to stop mind other person's business and take care on their own, nothing more! I couldn't care less what the others do with their money either. If they can afford a leggit, good, if can only afford a recast, so be it. Whatever! That will make him or her happy, right? That's more than ok, screw the rest! I love and respect all doll owners coz dolls are dolls and that's it, and I really expect to be loved and respected the same way. Even here in my country, I was in a Dollfie Dream dolls group which accept every anime dolls, I was posting pics of my Smartdoll and her sisters. When the admin saw a pic of my recast doll with her Smartdoll sis, she sent me a pm asking me if my doll is recast (she wasn't even sure), coz they only accept legit doll pics. I didn't think twice, I deleted all the picture posts I made of Mirai and left the group. If they are playing segregationist type, I don't wanna be part of their group. I would never be part of groups who thinks my doll isn't worthed and shits like that. She is my doll and I love her just the way she is, coz she makes me happy, she saves me from depression and sadness. All this dolls, their job is to give us joy and fun times, nothing different than that. I'm thankful for being in other doll groups who couldn't care less where I got all my dolls, especially the Smardoll community, those guys and gals are the best, I'm thankful for them to be in my life too.

The whole recast war is no more then elitism. Through the years, it damaged the hobby more then it done good. It ripped the whole BJD world apart. Leave it to the companies to go to the judge if they dont like it. But brands like Soom and Fairyland and others dont care about it.
But there is another crack in the BJD world i experienced a few times. Expensive brands versus cheap brands...... I have cheap brands like Angel of Dream and Resinsoul, even a Mirodoll (the horror) so some still say i never been really "in".....

So a cheap doll like Mirodoll is a kind of semi recast?
