    Sometimes I feel like the BJD community is a little salty and rude. We all enjoy the same kind of thing and we share the same hobby but even if you own an authentic doll someone in the community would try to put you down in one way.

    There's a quick and easy way to fix the whole recast issue. Lowering the price of the legit 2nd hand dolls.
    People buy recasts because they are cheap. If the 2nd hand market is on the same level, less and less people buy recasts. But of course the market will stay the same because "my doll was an investment and I want my money back."
    If this whole debate was ACTUALLY about artists and supporting the originals, this simple change would be completely logical. But it's not, it's a mix of greed, status, elitism and who knows what else.

      imo, the best way to fix the recast issue is if the "pro-artist" people actually just start a campaign to help the legit artist/companies sue the people who illegally stole their stuff. If there's an existing legal action done, I feel more people would be more scared to steal others' design.

      @@ぷードーモ Just yesterday I wrote to a friend about a new designer doll: Why do I see breasts from iplov, strange elbows from cheap action dolls, hands from sum id, legs from a ballet doll and all this is from the author?
      Double standards: borrowing various body parts by companies and authors from other companies and other authors is normal, but recasts are evil.

      @@hivlife2 I think the for dolls, it's similar to the fashion industry. An easier way to explain is that structural patterns cannot be licensed. like how the general pattern of a tshirt, skirt, pants, and bags can be used by others. There is a problem if a blatant copy of the design happens. like for chanel bags, the moment the logo is placed, there is an issue, but when the diamond pattern and flap design is used, it's no issue, as it's not really unique I guess. For dolls, what I think most of the problem arises from copying the dolls face which is usually a unique design. Other doll body part designs tends to be uniquely released by specific companies... but for the standard body parts ones, I see most kinda looks the same...Then there's that whole ethical way of how it was made. It's really quite vague when it comes to creative license disputes. Not even big brands like chanel, hermes gucci etc could stop counterfeit items....the amount of time, money and effort is just too much....imagine how unattainable those figures are for small businesses and individual artists...The only way fans can help is to just spread awareness of it. Whether people want to buy fakes or not is their business, but if people wanna help support the creators then just buy legit. Stopping this is tough, again cos of money. Either fans donate money to help these creators to at least hire a legal team or something....it'll drain everyones banks tho imo and tbh the court of law rarely takes creative disputes seriously unless undisputable evidence can be shown,...that and the ones creating fakes are mostly in overseas and hence protected under their respective country's law...depending on what kind of political agreement exists between the countries of both parties...the creators will probably need to go to ther perpetrator's country to sue the perpetrator there under their local laws....it's a roller coaster of draining money, and sorting through outdated and contradicting laws 😂😂😂

    I only own recasts because nobody told me ebay was a bad place to buy dolls. And nobody told me because at the time it was impossible to connect with anyone in the hobby because I was new and often ignored. Because of this I now own 4 recasts, 1 secondhand and 1 authentic doll. Talk to eachother people.

Your are locked out of many features (some for good reasons other a little arbitrary) that may help prevent people from going unknowing to buy recasts or knowing but not able to find safer options (like on the second hand market). Can I also tack on, please don’t yell, or tell someone off because they think they have a bjd, and you don’t think its a bjd. Such as I have a smart doll it has an internal skeleton instead of being heals together by string. I thought it was a bjd because all of its joints minus the spine are ball shaped. I that was all that was needed to have a ball joint doll until someone got an attitude with me heckling me and treating me like an idiot because of this. I’m not saying don’t correct someone, just do it nicely please.

      In my opinion a smart doll is a BJD. Danny Choo just has a different concept. I own one too and I know many people who consider then as BJDs too. I always thought that the BJD community is nice but only the Smart Doll/Dollfie dream community is. The BJD community really disappointed me. I feel like everyone is jealous of each others doll and in my opinion that's the reason why some people try to "bully" someone by saying things like "uhm that's not a bjd? Are you stupid?" Or "OMG your doll looks like a recast!". I hate hate hate this community. I'll probably buy a recast (my parents don't allow me to buy an expensive doll again, that's why I have to buy a recast(actually I feel pressured bc of legit bjd owner but idc I'll buy what I want)) but I don't want to be part of this community. I love the Smart Doll/Dollfie Dream community so much, everyone is nice and welcoming that's why I'll stay in this community^^

    • @NosKryme
      @NosKryme 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I personally, don't count Smart Dolls or Dollfie Dreams a BJD, moreso because their joints run on a hinge system? If that makes sense, OTL.
      Resin doll limb movement highly depends on ball like joints, or joints with spherical ends for the limb to move seamlessly. Hence the term, ball joint. These guys can't do much if their joints do not have drastic curvature.
      However, for a doll that uses an internal skeleton, like DDs or Smart Dolls, it doesn't need a ball joint anymore. It's there for aesthetic purposes, but in actuality, the parts that do the work, are like gears, or hinges. Therefore, it doesn't need a ball to move.
      I'm the kind of person that actually doesn't want BJDs and vinyls to mix. When I say that Dollfie Dreams aren't BJDs I don't mean to exclude them. They just feel incredibly different to me, I buy both BJDs and DDs for differing reasons. Dollfie Dreams and Smart Dolls don't need to fit into the BJD category to stay relevant. They're great dolls to begin with, and they deserve a category of it's own. What tag they are put under doesn't define the doll's worth.
      Honestly though, the true-true is, a person should never feel insignificant based on the opinions of others. They don't know you, the only person you need to please, is yourself. The people who are mean spirited are not worth fretting over. ^^

      Duckily ART I respectfully disagree. Counterfeiting is illegal in most countries, and I don’t want people who are okay with funding illegal activity to be invited to be a part of my hobby. Duckily I agree. The hate is counterproductive. I never owned a bjd nor a recast and was not interested in owning either until I saw the vitriol being hurled at recast collectors on social media and blogs. After reading, I immediately purchased my first recast. Dolls have been cloned for ages. Barbie was the product of a bild lilli clone. FR dolls are constantly remaking vintage barbie fashions. I reckon in many countries the law on replicas are different. In many, just a 10% difference equals a new product in itself. If the recasts really are different in size, quality, colour and finish then they are different enough to pass many legal tests. Moral POVs are a different kettle of fish but no one should be judged by some1 else's moral standards.

      Most people who buy recasts literally CANT afford a1000.00 for a doll. I'm in the doll community and can afford limited and original dolls but I don't have a problem with people buying recasts. Theres no way I can ever say this in the doll community but I'm glad I can say it here. What I think the real problem in the community is, many people are spending money on dolls they cant afford. They are either running themselves into debt or spending their rent money, car payment money, or childrens college funds on some very expensive dolls. This leads many people to become angry when they see somebody having a doll that's almost as good as theirs for a fraction of the price. There is just way too much jealousy in the doll community. If you ever had a friend growing up that didn't want to share their toys and threw fits, that's exactly how many of these people act as adults. The private messages you get when you show a new doll are pretty unbelievable. Its a bunch of spoiled little brats trying to bring you down with a sideways compliment. I don't buy anything I cant absolutely afford so I never feel bad for buying a doll. I also don't sell my dolls, I only gift them. And that really seems to infuriate some of the big shots in the community. I know a very talented doll painter in the community who has to act like they wont paint recasts out of fear of getting shunned by the doll community. This person has privately shared some of the work he has don on recasts and I can tell you one of their painted recast can be better than an original. What a lot of people don't realize is behind the scenes in the community many people don't have a problem with recasts because they know it doesn't actually take anything away from the artists. And in some cases it actually helps them. Just look at all the people that bought a recast as their first doll only to go on to buy an original. Or people who buy recasts to practice painting, sueding, wireing, ect. and then get good at it and stay in the hobby and buy more originals. So to anybody who cant afford an original please don't feel bad about buying a recast. Just keep it a secret from the community and realize that many of the people throwing a fit about you buying a recast are probable buying the generic brand of food so they can afford to buy an original doll. If you think I'm joking just look at the background in some of their photos and videos.

      @@teebear3036 honestly not being able to afford it is literally the worst excuse. There are plenty of cheaper legit dolls that cost the same or even less than recasts. I strongly dislike a lot of your reasoning. Where I don't think shunning recasts owners will do anything, as they still are apart of the hobby. It is a fact that recasts DO harm the artists and they are technically stolen art. So supporting the thieves who are profiting off of it isn't exactly a good thing to do. Buying recasts second hand doesn't hurt anyone but buying them straight from the recasters does hurt the artists. Most recasters however are unaware of the damage it does. The reason people dislike recasts is NOT because they're jealous people got a doll for cheaper than they did. They dislike recasts because recasts hurt the artists they want to support. Buying recasts never helps the artist? Buying the legit later on is what helps the artist. That's just a silly notion. Buying recasts is bad. But most of the time recast owners are just unaware and need to be educated and treated with kindness. You can't go around saying buying recasts is good lol that isn't going to help anyone.

    • @teebear3036
      @teebear3036 4 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      @@duckilyart7429 Not being able to afford it is literally the best reason because it doesn't take a cent out of the artists pocket. Also if the doll is limited and sold out then the artist has already made all their money and you would be buying it from somebody for more than they paid the artist for it. Hmmm...wonder if that has anyting to do with collectors on the forums shunning people for buying recasts. Is it hurting the artists pockets or the collectors/resellers. Many of the recasts on ebay are perfectly fine and just about as good of quality as the original minus the paint job. Anybody who cant afford an original shouldn't feel bad about getting a recast. The artist won’t be losing money from you because you don't have, and may never have the money for the original. If its a discontinued doll the a recast could be your only affordable option. If the artist isn't even making the dolls anymore then they aren't losing business at all. And why buy a used doll that could come from a smoker’s home or a home with cats and dogs when you can get a brand new recast. If you don't like the recast many of the sellers on ebay offer a refund. Many of the painters on the forums will gladly paint your recast even if they don't publicly say it. If your dream is to have a 3000.00 doll and you know you will never be able to afford it, you shouldn't feel bad about taking the only affordable route. Many of the people on the doll forums will want you to feel bad and that's mostly out of jealousy or some other negative kind of emotion. And there is a really good chance they have a few recasts hidden away. And at the least I bet they don't always buy the authentic apple device charger or the brand name food. People shouldn't feel bad for getting a doll for 150.00 and a face up and body blush for 100.00 if its the only affordable option. I know 250.00 is still a lot for a doll and still out of reach for many but its a lot less than 3k to 5k. And there's no doubt that you would love it just as much. I love my originals and my limiteds and I wish everyone could have them. It doesn't make me feel good knowing so many people that want them cant afford them. Most people in the doll community do not feel this way. I see a lot of stinginess and envy, its really sad. Anybody who thinks that a person who doesn't have the money shouldn't be allowed to have their dream doll should get off their high horse and try and see it from somebody perspective that will never even be able to afford a recast let alone a limited original. If you feel so bad for the artist maybe privately donate some money to them instead of looking down on and judging those who are less fortunate.

    As someone who is just getting into the hobby, I’d never buy a recast from a doll that came from an independent artist, but I don’t mind so much if it’s a company that “mass produces” dolls. I’m from a Blythe background, and have never purchased takara blythes, because I don’t collect, I customize. And I feel like especially when you’re starting out, buying a cheaper doll, whether recast or second hand or both, is much better, because I was terrified of messing up my dolls. At least on one that “doesn’t matter as much” it’s not as heartbreaking as if you bought this amazing expensive doll, just to ruin it.

      I can see your point about 'messing up' an expensive doll, though my background is starting with a $560 doll and I TOTALLY messed him up, LOL. That just made me love him all the more xD I feel like this hobby is so great because of the customization and, unless people are are only in the hobby to buy and sell, there should be a whole lot less stigma surrounding customization. Although I should add that there is no BJD company that 'mass produces' dolls - the vast majority of these companies are small groups of artists that work in a specialty market and likely don't see huge profits. That's why you see a lot of companies come and go, haha. I hope when you do get a BJD you customize the crap out of it - even if it was a limited edition super expensive so and so! ^_^

    I dont even think recasts harm independent artists. It is actually the competition of small companies which is making the way to success harder - and its perfectly healthy. But anybody who buys a recast probably wouldnt spent the money on legit doll anyway, I cant imagine someone who is willing to invest in legit doll and then changes their mind because the recast is cheaper. People who buy recasts either dont know about the hobby much (yet) or have a budget. I agree with you on the empathy and support we should give each other. In my local community they didnt even let a person take his doll to meeting, because it was a recast. But the person didnt know when he was buying the doll, he just got scammed. My community still treated him like garbage for it and didnt even allow him to post pictures of his beloved doll on fb. It made me sad, this behavior is not going to help anybody, its not going to feed the artist, its only dividing this small community to even smaller sections, unnecessarily.

She was totally naked! I asked the store Lady how much for the doll ? She said $1.00 dollar ( one dollar) now back then a dollar would buy a loaf of bread ,a Dosen eggs and a quart of milk ! Now a loaf of bread is 3to 5 dollars a dozen of eggs are 2 dollars (?) and milk is about 4 dollars ! I bought the doll with money I got from picking up empty pop bottles and beer bottles along the road ( us kids did that for spending money ) mom just didn’t have the money, she had to buy food,rent and a few clothes once in a while as we out grew our clothes and she made a lot of our clothes ! So a recast doll is and will be my choice also ! I can’t afford a $ 300 plus doll either !

    You make great points in this video. I wish people would use some judgment on this subject instead of looking at it as a black and white moral argument. As an artist of many mediums including dolls and faceups, I truly understand both sides of this argument; it's not okay to steal work from artists, especially when it's impacting the artist's income and production ability; however, i can also understand why an artist might want to buy a cheaper, less valuable doll just to try painting it, or heavily modifying it, or using pieces from different sculpts to create a unique doll. Every case of someone purchasing a counterfeit doll is not the same, and while it's important to know where you personally stand on the issue, it's not okay to harass other people who are just trying to enjoy the hobby and have no "sinister" intentions.

If people keep going for a good price over the original product the doll companies could go out of business and then we wouldn't even have this hobby anymore! And that would be super sad.

    I hope more and more recast owners can be more honest with themselves rather than trying to seek for approval online and cry about being bullied (which IS STILL NOT OKAY by any means) and then say stuff like they dgaf and they can spend their money however they like (which is true) but they obviously do still gaf if they keep coming to videos that covers topic such as this to vent out their frustrations. Unless you’re insecure about something and feel like you did something you probably shouldn’t have, you walk the walk. Ignore the toxic people in the community. Don’t try to fit in. Join groups that accepts your dolls. Don’t give a damn about whatever negativity the “elitists” threw at you. Be more honest with yourself.
    That said, I’m by no means a supporter of recasts. I’ve grown from being recast neutral person to an anti-recast. It’s just my own moral policy as an artist and not something I wish to impose upon others. I don’t have the right even if I cared to.
    I understand a certain group of people in the hobby possesses very terminally online behaviours. I too find this annoying and disproportionate. Even me saying I won’t harass people who buys recast warrants an attack. Best thing to do is to really just ignore them. They’ll never go away.

Yes, one day I plan to buy Van Goghs original piece Sunflowers...when I’m a millionaire. Until then I have to put up with a copy. At least I know of the grand artists because of the availability of the copies. Would I even know about the Popovy Sisters art if I hadn’t access to a copy. I Believe that copies/recasts bring art to the general public, increase the awareness of the skilled artist who would otherwise remain unknown ( like free advertising) and importantly helps maintain the value of the original.....a bit like Van Goghs Sunflowers.

      They can cost $200-$800 based on size and how complicated they are to make/put together. Some bjds have 40+ pieces to assemble. These things are handmade and sculpted, then a mold is created, and then recreated in resin. They're also made to have the best articulation so there's a lot of trial and error to making one. Many are also made to be customizable, so that you can swap out hands and feet and faces easily. These aren't your typical Barbies.

I have more fun sharing photos of them with my friends who don’t collect dolls and are being very supportive how dolls of all kind are helping me with my depression and health issues.
    A hobby should bring joy, escapism, & express creativity, not used as an excuse to bully others online.

Without dollar store Barbie there would have been no low class Barbie. I suggest saturating the market in low class dolls so the higher class dolls stand alone! It’s like free marketing for you. Every little girl with a low class Barbie wanted high class Barbie. We do grow up and reach a point of collecting things like that. Especially if it’s a positive thing to do for EVERYONE! then lox class Barbie AND high class Barbie have a home. Coke was never as famous until Pepsi was created.

I am like..really I support artist, but I also understand why people buy recast..If the people who own legit bjd only and are stating they hate, block or whatever people who own recast, just used their popularity and experience to help people buy legit, make them understand. I think the community would be allot nicer. I mean are you kidding me with this hate. I would not hate a person that owns a recast. I would ask why the person owns a recast and then tell them about the pros and cons. I have been telling my friends for years now if you want to try this out and don't have much money sure. go buy a recast..I understand. I didn't buy a Nikon dslr camera when I wanted to start with photography..I bought a cheap digital one from some local store. But if you are sure you want to be in this hobby and have the money please try to buy a legit ( I bought a nikon dslr, because I noticed the quality difference.) . I think that this way is more productive than hating, blocking and destroying eachoter. Those people should get their head out of the clouds and get down to earth.. We are all grown ups right? I own a Hujoo Amie (not a real bjd from what I've been told) and while my opinion differs on the recasting debate I will agree its never okay to recast a doll made by an independent artist. I do wonder if maybe if bigger companies that now only do digital sculpting changed their price points if they would find more success with people who want dolls on the budget side or if those companies would fall to the side where people would treat them the way I see people treat Bobobie dolls. Coming at this from a business perspective theres a lot to unpack but I'm glad you gave a place to openly discuss opinions without being aggressive.

    This is amazing actually this is what I felt before when I post something on some group before that’s the reason I think I went more with Blythe in some time in my life to current. Because I don’t know it seems I felt that I was actually in a hobby because people really interact with you even sends you personal messages when you asked about something. Lol though I still have my bjd s :)

      I totally get this! People in the BJD hobby tend to be pretty cagey and closed, and I don't really know why. Is it a status thing? Pride? Social phobia? Either way it's super dumb and we should all be more friendly XD

    Seems like there are too many elitists in this hobby. To be ignored when you're new to the whole collecting is terrible. I think everyone has their own opinions and reasons for and against recast dolls but whichever you have or why you have them at the end of the day is peoples own choice. No reason to give hate or abuse or make people feel like they are not worthy. Your dollies hair is amazing btw

    I am old and never worried about likes on DOA. I took photos for me.
    You need to be part of the DFW FB group - all legit dolls are welcome and we encourage people to create. It could be a faceup, clothing, a doll, a wig. Everyone has a learning curve to conquer.

    So unknowingly I bought a recast as my first doll off of eBay. How and why? The price point was nice and when I would ask in BJD groups where to find some nice dolls they would gatekeep as if I was a pleb because I didn’t have a lot of knowledge.
    I also own a recast of a doll that I know I’ll never own a legit of. However, I don’t post or talk about my recast dolls in legit groups unless it is a recast friendly group.
    Now that I’m a few months in, I finally got my hands on a legit doll that I’ve since made a hybrid. I love him tremendously!
    Im a recast neutral person mainly because I can see it as a good entry point for those who want to try the hobby out without investing a car down payment and potential buyers remorse. It was my entry point into the hobby and it let me get a few different sculpts to see what I like so I can buy more of that type later. 🙂

    I dont know if i can say any opinion , due to the fact that i was in a situation that i almost could die in starving xd so i couldnt even let myself buy even a recast (mostly the main problem was tha i couldnt even let myself have proper meal in a day xd) , and i was still young so yepp xd now i am able to stand on my own feet,and feed my family xd started as a newbie with recast but i am buying now legit ones xd i can only believe that even if someone cant afford it first,even if she/he can just buy one legit,she/he still helps the great companys to continue,every 1 piece counts 😊 i can really understand both sides,but the best thinking is that we could strive to at least support the legit companies, so they aint gonna end,they have really great works x3

    I bought a recast before I knew what a recast was, and so I get hate for it now. I didn't recast it, and yet I'm a horrible person... I like my BJD and don't care that she is a recast. I dislike the negativity on the pro-artist side, it makes a lot of people avoid the community all together.

    the skintone argument is the most compelling imho. if you want a certain sculpt but the company does not and probably will not make it in the skintone you want it in, i dont see how that is unethical.

    • @PrincessofKeys
      @PrincessofKeys 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm just sad a lot of companies don't offer darker skintones. My character I want to create is like aa in skintone I guess you can say and I only know a few companies that offer that, but as you said usually the head sculpt you want doesn't exist in the color.
      I just plan on dyeing the head and get a body already in the color closest to him which I already planned out.

    I just ordered my first bjd. I had no idea of recast is as I'm from a country where doll collecting is unheard of and most doll brands except Barbie fashionistas are either not available or 3-4x times the price. I'm pretty sure legit ones will never be available here. 😅 but I got a super cute recast. I can actually afford to buy the legit doll but I cannot afford to travel to a different country for it 😅 I can try online 2nd hands but chances of those being recast is also pretty high. So yes it may be a little shady but hello, capitalism wins. Isn't this exactly what Amazon is doing to local businesses? economy of scale always wins. Until I get access to legits in my country, I'm going to make do with recasts. Can some type of copyright not work for this industry? Like if a legit doll is recast, the artist gets a royalty? This would help the artist & also make their work more accessible & affordable. It seems to be a case of very poorly regulated market.

    • @PrincessofKeys

      You can always put aside money for the doll you want. BJD dealers like BJDiva, Alice's Collections, and Legenddoll does layayway in longer months. I believe buying directly from the conpany as well offer layayway, but probably not on the lengths you want.
      That's just one way I know.

    Seeing the amount of arguing and really terrible behavior from the pro artist side toward the recast side is a massive turn off to join this already very clickish hobby. If you're not already part of the "cool kids club", then you get shunned, ignored, etc. I got to deal with that in high school. I certainly don't want to be involved in that sort of stuff now. Oh, the Prom queen has a list of demands so I can walk past her table. LOL For the noob, so you go and introduce yourself. Might get 1 or 2 that actually say hi back.....then you read about what a horrible person *you* are for buying a recast.....a horrible person being judged by people who *act* horrible to each other. Um, kay.....it really is a very odd community. Not very welcoming at all. And now...now they are going to keep out new people getting into the hobby like a lot of people, had no idea what recasts were, etc. I'm a grown woman. I am not going to throw myself at someone's feet begging forgiveness over the purchase of a doll. LOL I found a pretty friendly board with recasters and now, because proartists lurk on the recaster sites (wow, who the hell has that sort of time on their hands, seriously)...and now I am "outed" as a dunt, dunt, dunnnn…..horrible, terrible, should be burned at the stake recast owner. LOL In the real world, this is a ridiculous thing to come across. Surreal.

    • @sadmac356
      @sadmac356 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      aaaaand here you have the reason I don't like what I've seen from Den of Angels (admittedly, it might be different if I actually had registered rather than browsing what I could as a guest, but the vibe I got was off-putting enough as it was that I didn't *want* to be part of that: I feel I'd be burned at the stake or worse for my ignorance or the fact that I'm currently limited to, as someone else put it, "cheap vinyl playscale"). I'd rather support the artist, and I'd rather people not knowingly buy a recast, but I'm not going to judge someone for their decisions. If they're going to be rude and snobbish or whatever to the newbies, then I'd rather not associate with them, even if they seem to welcome me.

      @@sadmac356 I've been apart of DoA for 10 years now and the rules against being rude are so strict I have no idea how anyone could get a bad 'vibe' from there lol. If anything I'd suspect newbies would find the forumn a little boring. I mean if anybody can point me to a thread with meanies and drama by all means let me at her.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You make some good points. One thing I wanted to point out, though. You mention that it’s not like murder or drug trafficking. Counterfeiting actually funds the drug trade and other illegal activity. I suggest reading the Wikipedia entry on counterfeiting. It was illuminating for me and my start down the rabbit hole of researching counterfeiting. There is some heartbreaking information out there about the child labor practices (like handbag counterfeiters breaking children’s legs so they can’t run away) and human rights violations of counterfeiters. We would be kidding ourselves if we believed that the counterfeiters who make recast dolls wouldn’t adopt such awful practices. It’s like your comparison to the puppy mill. I will not fund someone who runs a puppy mill, enabling them to run a business that harms dogs, just like I won’t fund counterfeiters, who harm human beings. Counterfeiting is a very serious issue, much more serious than I realized before I started researching it.

    Well I know I will get yelled at but I have been yelled at before so here goes ! If we didn’t have copy cats NO ONE WOULD have a car ,a house (or other types of living spaces ) card board boxes for packages ! Look around everything you see is a copy of someone’s original idea /product in one form or another ! This issue boils down to if you got the money you got Designer JEANS ! Levies we’re the original jeans ! The rest are just copied ! Love my 👖 jeans and they ain’t DESIGNER JEANS 👖 ! So these dolls are not ALL going to be Designer DOLLS ! We all want one or more ! Sorry but that’s just the way commerce works! There are more of us whom can’t afford a designer doll but that won’t stop us from buying copy cat dolls 🙀👵🏻😱😉🖖🏼👽✌🏻👍🏻

    I'm saving up for two Fairyline bjds from Doll Fairyland, and it totals to some 1050 australian dollars. Something like that. I'm not going to get recasts from them, because it gives me a good goal so i can work hard, save up, and get something i know is supporting the original company. It makes me feel good.

    I have just got into this hobby but I think you mean the same sort of thing as why you wouldn't want to copy a tattoo for instance, there's more than one reason but I think they are very personal and I certainly wouldn't want anything drawn on me permanently, that's a copy of someone else's idea (apart from myself and the tattoo artist). I think anything that has an artistic basis shouldn't be copied. I would never slaveishly attempt to copy repaints as I prefer to use people to be the models for any faceups I do. I don't think you can copy individual faces, only make a representation of how you see that person. Of course it's horrible to think of people plagiarising your work and it should be avoided, however if you are new to this, like me, it would be difficult to be a hundred percent sure that a doll you buy isn't a copy... however, I reckon with time you would have a better idea of which dolls look like what and individual artistic styles within the hobby?
