I've always complained about how the BJD dolls are so expensive, but now that you have shown every crack and crevice of the doll it made me think of how long it took to make all the joints ad the eyes! Now I feel like they should be for a lot more! P.S Congrats on the doll! Can't wait to see her clothes. :)

Tahts more expensive and hard🤦🏻♂️ you need to amkw it out of of dry clay then you make mold kf what you just made THEN you cast (idk the word) it in resin and resin is EXPENSIVE how do i know this, because i do research for the future cause im going to be making my own and selling them when im grown up(im 13 might be awhile)
I relate lol, I've actually just started sculpting mine last month, and so far it's going great (I'm making a small 12 cm one because I'm inexperienced and I don't have a lot of clay lol)
I know this is an old conversation, but I thought I would chime in for anyone wanting to start their own bjd for as cheap as possible!
I highly recommend using airdry clay for your doll. Resin/casting materials aren't needed if you do not plan on replicating the doll. Just keep in mind clay dolls might be a bit more fragile and need a bit more care when handling. c:
But if you DO want to cast your doll pieces, look at shops that sell resin/casting materials in bulk! It tends to be way cheaper on your wallet then the resin meant for jewellery you see floating around in tiny batches for a big price.
And if you do not have a dremel (which can be used to carve dry clay/make holes in a doll), do not worry! To make the inside of the doll hollow just make sure the clay is wrapped around an aluminium foil core (you can later use a sharp knife (make sure you have a guardian do this if you're underage!) to cut the holes where the joints will go to size and remove the core once the clay is dry).
Elastic can be picked up quite cheaply, so in theory you can make a doll for around £20 or less! But remember to have fun with it, bjds are exciting to make. c:
I made mine with air dry clay, wooden beads and elastic a month ago and I'm pretty proud tbh. Might not be as high quality as a 200$ one but it is what it is

for Christmas my parents gave me a doll making kit which really isn't a kit it's just a box from amazon full of the stuff you need to make dolls from The things you need to make dolls video. some types of ball jointed dolls are hand made,
The material she's made out of (resin), and they are art dolls
because they know we are obsessed before the doll even arrives.

Petra P. Actually, they're not. I've made my own. Of course, I've been using the method with only elastic and hooks, no springs. I don't see the point of springs.
Over two years later and I see this video after binge watching so many of your videos I had caved and gotten a BJD--from Myou doll! ironic! I went and got a 1/8 doll, and am not sure when to expect her, but seeing this video got me excited for the quality all over again, especially since Myou doll has updated their models and casts since you posted this!
For those fussing over the price, this is actually pretty standard or even on the low side for a 1/4 BJD. The 1/4 bodies on their site are about 185, and shipping can get Up There--mine's coming to America so shipping was 30 bucks, yikes! If you're lucky, you can find 1/4 BJD with Face-Ups for about 200 dollars, but they are usually more from official sellers.
And for those curious, a 1/8 BJD from Myou Doll is 110 dollars USD. BJDs tend to be a certain age depending on proportion, with 1/8s being toddler and 1/6 being child, and so on, but Myou doll is an exception. Their 1/8s may not have breast options like 1/4s, but they have wider hips and slimmer limbs than most 1/8 BJDs.
I mean this is a pretty old video so I'm sure nobody's gonna notice but I'm REALLY happy yt recc'd it to me because it helps me know a little what to expect!

What a gorgeous girl! Seeing that eye putty however made me think of a disaster that ended up happening with my first BJD in long-storage... Make sure you periodically change the putty every few months, or else it might get rock-hard and gross inside her head. :

If I ever created a doll company, every year for a limited time only in December I would create specially made dolls that have soft booty cheeks so that when a kid tries to commit doll abuse by taking off all their clothes they would get freaked out by the soft booty cheeks that replaced the factory plastic ones. 😈
