Man, I’m so appreciative of your take on this one. I think it has to stay with you. Today is Free Frog Friday. This one is for you. Wear in the greatest of health.
So appropriate that Desire 68 Frogman, would review this special analog Carbon Analog Frogman on Frog Friday! My first video review of the analog Froggie. I appreciate you going into some detail on many of the watch features. It is quite the puck, for big wrists only. Sits well on your wrist. Well done and thank you!
You would like this one Ted. Massive but light with tons of tech. Plus you and I share the same wrist size so you now have a true to life view of the fitment🐸😉🐸
Michael watching these frogman videos is tempting bro 😎 LOL 😂. I’m still trying to acquire my grail Seiko and a frogman watch like this is making me want to buy a watch like this 👍🏻
Just discovered your channel. I have that watch, the red analogue Frogman, and the Royal Navy analogue Frogman. I think I like them :) I am looking forward to seeing what Casio does next with the Frogman series.
@@desire68frogman98 I had the GWF-1000 but it never really spoke to me. I am more of an analogue guy. I have a lot of G-Shocks. About 110 now. Most are analogue but I have some nice digitals. I would have liked a GWF-D1000 but the strap was too long for my wrist. I also really like the Mudmasters, GBD-H1000s (I have 5) and MTGs (I have 7).
@@ianmaw66 your collection sounds epic Ian. If you’re on Instagram, connect with me if you care to share some pics. Check Desire 68_youtube on Instagram.
I just bought one of these on second hand on eBay after owning (and selling) a couple of the analogue As (Rainbow Toad and the red version) ... this version blows the others I've had out of the water in the flesh. Also the bracelet wears so much better than the band, it's so comfortable. It looks the business on your wrist too, you should definitely invest in one.
Thanks for your comments Mikey. If you check the next video along, you will see that this fine frog “the best of the analog frogs” is now mine as it was gifted to me. I’m actually wearing it right now, this very minute to service🙏🏾
I have the GWF-A1000-1A4JF the red one. I wish I'd held on for the carbon one (they weren't out when I got mine). The are such a great watch. Few things people might like to know you didn't mention in your quick review is that the tide zone is configurable from many thousand locations around the world via the app or you can customer create your own. When you go to tide mode the 2nd subdual goes to the local time of that tide point. Pretty nifty hey.
@@expat1902 Awesome, you’re gonna love it. Be aware though, if you’re accustom to the 1000 series and the D1000 series frogman, you will find this one extremely light on the wrist. Not a problem, just something to be aware of. Enjoy it in the best of health 🐸🖤🐸
No Jeff. I’m a digital Frogman diehard. It was the way G-Shock intended it to be. Having said that, this carbon Frogman is a little special. I wore it yesterday for Frog Friday and I couldn’t take my eyes off it. I don’t much care for many of the other A1000’s though.
Was quite disappointed that the analog frog didn't have depth meter, but now that doesn't bother me anymore. This carbon model is smoking. Thanks for the review.
I’m with you on the lack of depth meter. I’m sure that I too will get over it though. The carbon frog is definitely the first analog frog to catch my attention.
Try the Japanese proxy site “Fromjapan”. I’ve bought a couple of gems from them. Just take the time to understand how it works, the prices/bargains are well worth the effort.
@@desire68frogman98 Will try them. Thank you. Do you know the approximate percentage to add to price for import / tax duty so I can get a fair idea on costs ?
If I’m not mistaken, it’s calculated on the country that you reside in so will be different depending on where you live I. The world. I’m sure the Canadian % is high, I never look to be honest. With goods coming from Asia, they don’t always get taxed, I don’t bank on that but I’ve been more than lucky a few times.
Hi, these frogman are tough solar so you don’t need to charge them. When they are low, just use a light source to get them back to full charge again. Daylight works the best.
I was tempted to get one of these but that mode/date dail is so small its hard to read even with a macro lens .....decided to order a Protrek PRW-70Y titanium instead. It shows up early next week....kinda excited. 😅😅 Still this watch looks so good on that bracelet.
Agreed with you on the legibility of the mode dial. I’m in my mid 50’s and have been short sighted/near sighted since the age of 9, so I can definitely attest to the straining to read the tiny print these days, and it’s not going to get better lol. Protreks are awesome, I own two lovely models myself. The bracelet on this watch is absolutely first class, I really was impiety it.
@@desire68frogman98 Your right. I'm looking hard at a new Seiko Alpanist over the old sarb for just that reason. Now if only to find one for a decent price one day.😅😅 I don't have many autos in my collection but I LOVE the look of Alpanists. Which kinda makes sense I guess being such a hugh Protrek fan.
It’s funny that we are talking about this while I prep for a vid where I’m going to remove the mineral and change it for sapphire due to the candy bar magnifier. Should be posting that one very soon so keep your “eyes peeled” for it👀
Is this really a diver or dive watch? Because I read that some hobby divers complained on an other channel that it lacks a depth meter and some preferred a digital G-Shock (GWF-D1000B-1JF for example) over the analog one.😅 Me too.
I would always prefer a digital over the analog version, but divers tend to use a dedicated dive meter tool as the go to tool. That being said, this is still a worthy dive watch as all Frogman are.
The Q1000 Gulfmaster is an awesome piece of kit, plus, it’s a Master of G model. As much as I love all Frogman, to me, the analog series Frogman are more of a boutique watch. If I was to choose a Frogman to swim/dive with, it would be a digital display model, preferably the 1000 series or better still, the D-Series Frogman. 🐸🐸🐸
I am afraid G-Shocks now are fashion watches compared to G-Shocks from few years ago. Smaller, simpler, cheaper built and less durable. And by the way carbon case is not more durable than steel case. Carbon is very prone to vertical hits and will simply crack when steel case will deform but usually will still stay intact. But plastic is cheaper than steel. 😉
@@wojciechpatalas6660 couldn’t agree more. Thats why I’ll never sell Frogs or Seiko divers. They’re just too good, especially the older frogs. I love the later D-series Frogman, but for me, the 1000 series Frogman takes the crown. That model is 14yrs old now and as strong as ever. It has all you would expect in a dive watch and looks good too. Of course, one would still need a dive computer in the #1 position for serious diving, but the 1000 series Frogman makes for a great back up tool.
I have D1000 and it is built like a tank. I have also bought Rangman GPR B1000 and frankly speaking compare to Frog looks kind a cheap . Unbelievable. And by the way my D1000 was serving as a regular dive watch so all this talks about Frogs don’t need sensors is not exactly true. 🙂
Agreed, I also “love” my D-Series Frogman. Technology wise, I feel that this is where the Frogman technology peaked. I have three D-Series models and they’re here to stay.
