    What a rugged watch! Built tough!
    Love this b/c it's a "set and forget" type of watch and once it's on your wrist, you're not afraid of bumping it or anything like that.
    Gotta love 'em!! Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks for watching. I love that you have 3 choices on these now. Analog with ability to set everything by your phone, digital with solar and depth sensor, and a simple digital soldier which more than 10 years later is still relevant and keeps chugging along.

      I have been impressed with the Connect app from the start. This was another great option Casio put out, unfortunately I have read it is now discontinued. Wondering what is next for the Frogman line.

    Good review! it’s a shame I can’t see more positive reviews of this watch, mostly people criticizing the watch negatively :/ I truly think it’s a fantastic watch. It may not be digital like the previous versions, but most true dive watches are analog such as Rolex, Omega, and even Seiko divers. The analog construction with carbon fiber and Bluetooth technology are great welcome features. I have the blue version of this watch and although I’m not a diver, I couldn’t be more than happy with it.

    • @DougFNJ
      @DougFNJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the biggest criticism is the lack of depth sensor after they added it to the last section. People really liked that. I personally liked that they put this out, more options is not necessarily a bad thing.

    You’re the first my friend to review this... pictures don’t do it justice... I’m liking the digital more, but can see the attraction for this, as at the end of the day it’s tested to be 200 meters and beyond, so a good reinsurance right there! You covered loads in such a short time including comparisons... I like that you’re a right sider like me, and only the same size... really good to see it through a review... will post this on my community page with a link... cheers for sharing a great first review of it ;)

      Thank you so much. I have to see how you do that and return that, you are the RangeMAN!!
      I think the App working with any of these watches creates a whole different experience in usability where the choices narrow in regards to Analog and Digital.

    Doug my GWF-A1000-1A2ER arrived today Sir, wow pictures do the watch no justice. I'm bowled over with it, its beautiful and as with the Rangeman and Mudmaster the Mobile app just makes the watch very very easy to set up and use. Also, thankfully, the watch can also be used without a Mobile for people who don't have one. Stunning watch, I cant stop looking at it.

    For as long as i remember, I didn't think G-Shock as a high quality watch and I mostly had Seiko Coutura's as my watch of choice. I had two very nice, grest looking watch. Then I started eyeballing the Master Of G watches. The barometer was key for me as well as solar and atomic timekeeping.
    When i seen the price tag i knew my thinking was either off or these are some good watches. Long story short i went with the Mudmaster GWG-2000. It was a close call with that or this. This is one great looking, highly functional watch. To me worth it.

    Nicer than I was expecting TBH will probably get one as I have 4 of the previous Froggies. A bit of me says I'll still prefer my digital frogs however I can't deny the way the hands move about between modes is quite appealing. Also the back of the mono case looks nicely finished and I bet in the flesh the whole watch has a crisp high quality look to it.

    • @DougFNJ
      @DougFNJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Monocoque is great. Less possibility of issues. The band is one of the best, and I hope Casio continues in that direction. I think many are pleasantly surprised with the final product vs leaks and rumors.

    I couldn’t wait to get the first analog frogman. I got the black with yellow highlights and it is awesome! Need to see it in person because all the videos and pictures don’t do it justice. It is stellar looking and engineered well. love the carbon monocoque against the wrist. Super cars use it and helps with the structural system. In the frogman it helps with keeping moisture and dust from entering, especially with fluctuations in temperature, and humidity. It also lowers water absorption coefficient, thus allowing for more reliable water resistance and case strength at great depth. It’s basically an external skin. Along with the fluoroelastomer band, It is the most comfortable frogman to date. Weight distribution is perfect. The features on this model are minimalist at best, and I like that. Just need a basic dive watch to tell the time, day and date, dive mode, tide info, stopwatch, timer, world time, tough solar, and an alarm. Needs to have atomic time, which this frogman has and iso rated. Also the screw down crown with the six small indent holes, is designed similar to a depth meter. The led light and lume are good enough for visibility at night. I think this analog frogman will eventually be sought after in the future, will be highly collectible and eventually, appreciated. I know I will!

      Thank you for your well written thoughts on this watch. I think those who have been getting it appreciate it for what it is. I think you are right, the more people who get their hands on this in the wild and show it off, the more popular its going to get.

    Great and thorough review brother. Your review just helped me NOT to buy this latest Frogman though. Displaying all of this digital information in analog form is just way too confusing, hard to read and hard to figure out. thanks for the video,it really delivers real feeling about this new forgman.i do not know why they removed depth gauge from the 6th generation.it is so essential as a dive watch i think(tide is really for surfers i think).think about the way you use it:scuba with a dive computer and a watch with depth gauge as backup is cool.or, free dive with a cool frogman with depth gauge along is perfect. and the dive log function showed in the video i think is kind of unpractical in my perspective. i think the 6th gen frogman will be a classic in the future if the depth meter is not coming back.

    • @DougFNJ
      @DougFNJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review! I love the look of the watch.. I was thinking to buy this watch but after reading some of the comments below I am confused ... I am not a regular diver but occasionally do dive (so never bothered to invest in a dive computer) but the moment I looked at this watch I thought maybe this would achieve a bit of both for me. What would you recommend, should I buy this considering that one of the main reason I was buying this watch was for dive?

    • @DougFNJ
      @DougFNJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't see why not, Ive been saying all along, if you use any dive watch when diving, this provides the same legibility and time keeping, the module gives you more features. If you want more from a dive watch, the previous version goes 1 step further and offers a depth sensor, but no bluetooth to synch to the phone.

    Why would they sell a watch that at this point can not connect to iPhone Blue Tooth, that's a big feature that makes this watch cost $800.00, that makes it worth that much and yes I love the other features but all features should work before putting on the market, was never told or saw anywhere where it stated that blue tooth connect was not able to be used on this watch at this point. Having hard time getting it to have correct time as well, my iPhone shows 8:10 and frogman shows 8:17. Since many years now we are diving with computers and are using the watch as a reference and backup. However since you never do recriational diving alone the chance that also Your mates DC will fail is slim to none. However its nice to have this little redundency nevertheless. Dive watches come in 2 categoiries, functional and non functional. The GWF-D1000 is a good example of a functional divers watch and is a great divers watch, the GOAT Citizen Aqualand is another.
