    A mainstream "dive watch" should not have depth sensor, since they are not AS accurate as a dedicated dive computer. However - a diver's watch is used heavily to track the 15 minute long stops you have to take to avoid decompression sickness. Having the watch provides a failsafe alternative if the dive computer gets lost or damaged during the dive. A "dive watch" for this reason should be bulky, easy to handle, easy to read and most importantly reliable!
    The analog frogman's utility LED light makes it superior to automatic and more expensive counterparts in my opinion. Plus pressing the button for the timer is easier and more practical underwater then twisting the secondary ring on the watch face in case of an oldschool analog watch.
    By the way... Great video. I hope my comment makes it more popular.

    I got this one yesterday, great lume but short-5-10 minutes and cheap steel case instead of master of G box.Annyway- I love the blue and yellow colours and I'm very happy to have this one so fast.

    I'm not a diver, but really like this new Frogman. I was in the market for a nice looking analog G-Shock as an EDC watch and almost bought it a few weeks ago. I ended up going with an MTG-B1000 (black/red highlights version). It's less bulky than the Frogman and has the same atomic, Bluetooth and tough solar features. You can't go wrong with either choice. Great video, mate!

    Well done video. This is a nice watch but I still vastly prefer the previous digital model. I can't help but feel that Casio is cutting corners with the new analog model. The monocoque resin case is far cheaper to manufacture than the DLC coated steel case of the digital model. The lack of sensor is also another cost cutting measure as it's an expensive part. You didn't mention it in the video but it wouldn't surprise me if the newer model didn't have a carbon fiber inlay in the band like the previous digital model, another cost cutting measure. If the price of the newer model were cheaper, this would be well justified, and at $800 dollars it doesn't seem to offer more diving functionality than a $40 Casio DW5600E. Maybe I'm just a purist, but the digital setup in a frogman is so traditional to the design. It was one of the first fully digital diving watches. By rebranding the frogman as a analog diving watch, it just becomes...well...another analog diving watch. It's no longer something special.

    • @UnboxallTV
      @UnboxallTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for your comment. I do mention about the strap in the video, and like you prefer the carbon fibre on the D1000. Calling it a resin case is not quite accurate, it is a carbon reinforced resin for a lot more strength, and it's much lighter than the D1000.
      I like the D1000 too. A really iconic design. I think the A1000 is for a different buyer, that's all. Hoping for a new digital Frogman in the future!

      @pibblesnbits 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@UnboxallTV Yes, would be perfect to see another digital frogman with bluetooth so data can be logged into a phone. If they don't come out with a new Frogman, the digital frogman will be far more collectible than this analog one in 10 years from now.

      i honestly think that the blue tooth module is just as exensive as the depth sensor... this is not your average blue tooth emitter and receiver but a high impact super compact low draw version that costs quite a bit, Add the antenna for the multi band and the solar panels and there is not much room left without making the watch much bigger.

    It is a pity the watch does not have a depth gauge. I would have purchased it if it did. The concept of having the function of a dive timer and surface interval timer without the depth max and time being noted is a feature that lacks function except for apnea dives. Thank you for this review. If you are in contact with Casio, tell them this model will be a less than optimal sell over the Gulfmaster Quad sensor. This watch is sharp looking and only needs two sensors IMO. Barometer and Depth.

    I'm a retired pro diver. I've never owned any G that wasn't h2o resist to 200/m? Seems they were all dive watches. I have a G/Carbon/analog, not Frog and love it. Frogman's are way cool but all dive watches are just a style piece. We all dive with computers that track everything so the watch is redundant. An analog dive watch needs a rotating bezel for easy bottom-time tracking.

    I own this it is indeed very comfortable. Yet like all froggies so intricately complicated I have absolutely no idea how to use it and the all-Japanese interactions do not help. Sometimes a button gets pressed by accodent and it goes into some mode and i have no idea how to get it back to normal the multi functionality on these is definitely a gimmick and makes them way too complicated to use unless you plan on spending weeks each year on TH-cam trying to remember what they all do and how to use them. Glow barely lasts a few minutes and I find the face a bit too complicated for instant recognition. It’s kind of a silly piece really. It’s just style over and practical usage. But I still like it though I prob wouldn’t buy it if I were doing it over again
