    I never knew that cable had such a long reach. That looked pretty cool Dave. And that thing can handle a pretty big log too. I really enjoyed this vid. Beautiful day, scenery too. Good job men!

      Good morning Joe and thanks! It has performed very well for us so far, the large diameter capacity is really nice for accepting the odd shaped and larger firewood poles! I’m glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching! Take care my friend

    Now you’re making firewood! That looks like an awesome machine Dave. I think the best part of that machine is you are not working off the ground. I hold my logs up with forks when I’m cutting so I’m not bent over all day, but I still have to roll them on the lift with the Wolf Ridge.Great machine! Looking forward to more action. Great video and thanks for sharing! Stay safe , have fun and be cool 😎

      Wheewww man! I need a bigger bar hehe I have a 28” on it now and I’m sure it would still pull nice on a 36”. Might look into doing some big slabs with it on an Alaskan mill setup!

    Was wondering today how well this processor would work on the 8ft logs the loggers around here do for firewood and pulpwood logs. Be a lot easier if had someone to run the winch cable around for me so I could keep the processor humming along.

    • @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm
      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes the longer the firewood poles the more cord/hour you can do but it still works great on the shorter length logs. Having 2 people really allow this processor to shine. For price/production output, this machine is hard to beat! Thanks for watching.

  • @jamespowers6828
    @jamespowers6828 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very cool!! Im thinking about getting one. I have a couple questions. How much fuel does it use roughly per hour and do you feel the winch has enough power? I was looking at doing tree length wood with it. Thankyou

    • @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm
      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly I can’t give you a fuel usage with it, I’ll just say for the Size of the tank you can do a lot of firewood with it. And the winch has plenty of power, my best advice is when you stage the logs take the time up front to cut the limbs and knots flush. It just makes the rest of the operation much better. Overall this machine is awesome and in my opinion compared to other commercial splitters it’s way more bang for the buck! Hope that helps and thanks for watching. Follow our channel for more firewood videos, the season is coming up on us! Take care James

    Have you tried cutting the slabs off the sawmill with it?

  • @thefirewooddoctor
    @thefirewooddoctor 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why did you choose the Wallenstein over the Hudson Brute Jr that has a log lift for just a bit more $? The ramped outfeed chute acts almost like a conveyor! Also, why the 845 instead of the 875 that has the hydraulic saw? Is it for ease of service of a conventional chainsaw versus a hydraulic saw? My thinking is if the saw you are using dies, can more readily fix it than wait for hydraulic saw parts. I wouldn't use anything less than a 70cc class chainsaw on this processor. Am thinking this model might be the way to go for me. The better option to increase production is to get a splitter with a proper 4-way wedge. That alone would nearly triple my production volume.

    • @daveholmes123
      @daveholmes123 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both units are excellent choices, mainly I choose the WP 845 my dealer is about 6 miles from me and it is available, most items are backordered or not available, Thanks for the comment also the 361 is doing a great job no doubt a bigger saw would be faster👍

    You'll love the machine more once you do tree length. I own a older wp830 and got 90' of synthetic cable in my winch. Can drag 60 to 80' long trees no problem. Got a couple videos on my channel you can watch. And get a 70cc or bigger saw, and put 404 pitch bar and chain on like my 441c has and sharp edge will last longer between sharpenings.

      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Any idea roughly how many face cord a person could do in a day?

    • @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm
      @OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel one person could easily do 1.5-2 face cord and hour if the logs are staged and prepped right, that’s if your just letting the wood fall in a trailer or pile! I’ll try to do a video of that soon to find out, kind of curious myself. Thanks for watching!
