I just did the muffler delete. You can hear the V8 but it is not too loud at all unless you are at WOT. There is no drone in the cab. It will definitely pass California's noise limit. I love it.
Wild! Would it pass smog?
@@GXOverland Yes, smog tests measures gasses before the the muffler and after the cats. Most smog test are done by the OBD ports now. California's exhaust noise limits and test are a different department all together.
I ended up getting the MF Overlanded exhaust for my GX460. I feel like they got the sound just right. Not too loud, but you can definitely hear it when you step on it

Did you go straight from stock to the MF exhaust? Or did you have an in-between exhaust modification, such as a muffler delete, etc? I just did a muffler delete and I appreciate the rumble of the V8, but I think it’s a little too loud in the cabin for a daily driving experience. Thanks for your input. And by the way, watching one of your early GX videos from a couple years ago had a heavy influence into why I bought one. I’ve had a 2006 GX470 now in the early modification stages. Be blessed.
Yeah I went straight from stock to the magnaflow. It was a big jump but so worth it.
Possibly my next upgrade- how's the ground clearance? Also- what's your rear tire carrier?
It’s tucked up in there pretty good. Better than stock exhaust. The rear was made by a company called RPM Fab but they’re out of business sadly. I really liked their work.
See how you like doing a muffler delete before you get the aftermarket muffler. It's not loud at all. My 4 cylinder Subaru STI is a lot louder than the GX470.
