Just a heads up for next time, the exhaust wrap is actually supposed to be soaked and installed wet. It helps wrap it tighter, and sticks together especially on bends so it doesn’t fall off. Also the muffler will change after you drive it a good amount sound wise.

Love your ‘Prado’, very Aussie looking build, would be perfectly at home outside any outback pub.
Add an exhaust cutout to the single straight section between the magnaflow muffler and stock downpipe. Magnaflow 10784 2.5” diameter tubing. Very easy to diy install. Can bypass the muffler and run it open once in awhile for that much louder sound. Then bolt the closing plate back up to hear the normal magnaflow sound.
the video made it seem quieter without mufflers than with the magnaflow. loud cars are fun sometimes, I have a really loud jeep that people think is a v8 all the time but my 4runner i just want to make even quieter than stock
LMAO on your first start up without the Overland installed. We just finished up a cat-back Magnaflow for my son's 2004 Tacoma TRD. It sounds so good that I am now looking at the Overland for my 5th gen 4Runner. Thanks for posting.
love the magnaflo, i had an 18" version on my tundra before this overland version came out , looked pretty close to the same size. building another tundra now, gonna try this one.
I’m a fan of cold air intakes. You get a throatier sound, improved gas mileage and little more torque to add to the get up and feel. Nice upgrade to Asian and sounds good.
Very nice like the very subdued rubmle. I went with flomasters on mine. And i love the sound .but i dont drive it all over the western US to get to the crazy places ya'll go on the long hiway. Most of mine are 1 to 2hours away.
I can only wish I have the tools and mechanical aptitude you got Kevin. I swear that if I attempted a DIY exhaust mod, “f” bombs will be spewing out of my mouth. 🤣 Heck, I can’t even assemble an IKEA desk, there’s seems be an extra screw in the package. Oh well, I enjoyed the video and LOVE the exhaust growl!! Now that sounds like a V8. I gotta say it changed the character of your Rig. 😁👍✌️🇨🇦
I'd love to see a Atrac VS Lockers video. I've searched and havent found one. Could you make one for us? With my LX470 only having Atrac I'd love to see how it compares to lockers and why they may, or may not be needed. I find it interesting that on Toyotas most expensive and well engineered vehicle lockers are not an option post 1999.
Add Doug Thorley long tube headers for the win. I don't have emissions testing where I live, so if you do, it's not an option. The DT long tube headers ad measurable HP and TQ. I have them and the MF exhaust like you. 2003 GX gets up and moves with this mod.
Was planning to get this but it comes a bit short of the factory bumper cut off. Maybe i will just do a muffler delete. Great video and best looking gx rig!
if you brought a toyota prado to the u.s...you think they would be able to maintain it?repair? or have spare parts? how close is a lexus gx460 to a similar model year prado? ofcourse they are both still different..what is the maximum difference? minimal difference? tolerable differences that would allow slight fabrications or adjustments? im just doing a "hypothetical" shipping a prado to the "u.s" scenario.
The biggest highlight of magnaflow mufflers is only the engine brake in 3rd gear... I had MF on 4 cyl 1.8T VW and I loved its monsterous downhill engine brake in 3rd gear... on highway I used engine brake like a horn to tell others clear the path 🤣🤣 MF unlike the pathetic loud muflers, its rich in low frequency... deep base like sound..
Nice video mate. I have a Prado 150 that comes with the extended fuel tank. Do I really need to insulate the exhaust? I mean the factory exhaust doesn’t have that insulation. Is the magnaflow exhaust hotter for some reason? Maybe the material used? I’m considering this mod too. But that insulation you had to do because of the extended fuel tank got me thinking. Maybe I’ll just leave the stock exhaust lol. Regards.
Im now jealous, I didn’t realise the Lexus was a V8, makes my Prado sound like an outboard motor 😭🤣🤣 and look on the missus face every time that thundering V8 started up would suggest she’ll be making noise to impress people. Don’t suppose you want to swap, cant afford a 200 series and a 79 series would cost an arm and a leg to do things like a canopy and all the other goodies I want lol.
When you are ready for more hp and a little more torque. You may want to consider the Doug Thorley headers with your exhaust. I am down to two catalytic converters and one muffler. The headers added 100 hp and 50 ft lbs torque.
100hp from headers!!! You have lost your mind! That's complete BS, sorry. Those are supercharger numbers. I've owned and been doing performance stuff for 30 years. If you got 15hp from those headers you're lucky. Do you have the before and after dyno graphs?
I think it sounds great. Not too ratty. Now rip out the carbon/charcoal intake box filter, add a Toyota intake airflow accelerator (a venturi that couples the fender well with the air box), and a fresh Toyota air filter and you're off to the races.... for a stock intake.
Little off topic- Not getting any younger and have worked very hard for decades. Not much time to be fully involved (wrenching full time) with a build. Stumbled on your show a month or so ago and especially: Can you direct me to a firm in USA (Western States) to build out my 2011 Sequoia Platinum before I get to far into it. Or is this something you can consult and spec out equipment, shocks, power management front end and rear etc? Thank you Kindly, Pete

Fyi if you soak the heat wrap before installing. It allows you to wrap it tighter so it doesn't work loose later down the road.

Put a shot of silicone lube (not oil or WD40) on the rubber exhaust hangers, they come off / go on a LOT easier that way.

Heard that the MF does not work well; rusts at the cat after 20-30K miles and noise. Be interested to see what you find out!
