  • Replacing your watch battery is easy. Super cheap to do and saves you money. It's getting the cover back on the watch that can be a little difficult but I've found a way that makes it easy to put it back on using a simple tool you can get at the dollar store.

My sister went to a jeweler who charged her $90 American for a battery and replacement. Rip off time at the jewelry store. Her husband has since learned how to replace the battery which saves her a bunch of $$$. There are jewelry stores who will rip off people, and say they are giving them a good deal saying that they won't find the battery any cheaper anywhere else. Hmmm. Try the $ store or Walmart.

I tried every other TH-cam instruction on how to press back a pesky back that refused to pop back in.
Brute force, press with a plank of wood, press down full body weight with handle of spanner, hammer, pliers , bice grip... nothing worked, I had resigned to taking it to a shop untill I searched one last time and found your method. No need for one dollar store as I already had everything.
I lined everything up and turned till I heard that pop... was either going to be cracked watch face 😅, or the back popping in.
No cracked glass, kudos to your instructions, gentle and steadily increasing pressure is the trick, thank you! 🙏

  • @olderwiser2080

A few problems here. The movement of the watch can be ruined if you touch the new battery with your bare hands, if a static charge hits the movement (ground yourself), or if you short the battery with a conductive (metal) tool. Also, the gasket should be cleaned/lubed (at a minimum) or replaced to maintain water resistance. If the watch will be subjected to submersion, a pressure test will indicate a leak, which could also kill your watch.

Next time when you need/want to buy a watch, buy Citizen Eco-Drive or Seiko Solar. (Other brands may have their solar lines.) You will never need to change a battery.

Simón, little ¢aribou friend. Solar devices indeed house a 'Solar Battery'. As any battery does not last forever, and at some point lose the ability to retain a 'charge'. They will eventually need replacing. Take it from me- 420 years old and went thru as many batteries, as strains I can name!🌙💨🦇

Your 2nd method worked great for me, as I don't have the thumb strength anymore due to arthritis.

There was no audible pop, but I could feel it click in

"Popping the old battery out" and "popping the new battery in" under that fiddly little battery clip is the hardest part, yet that step always seems to get skipped in videos. Do you loosen the screw? Does the battery just slide out? Do you have to lift up the edge of the battery or tilt it at all? How exactly do you do it?
