    I am curious what advantage there is to doing it this way rather than doing it from the Logix 5000 end using SLC Typed Read and SLC Typed Write messages. Seems a lot easier than this.
    Very good and helpful video BTW.

      @Donald Walukas: Thank you for bringing up some good points. However I still made different videos for almost all possible situations.
      Below videos was made 2 years ago for the communication from 5000 to 500 for your preference. For my perspective, sometimes it is not about the advantages you will get from one method over the others. However, it is about the flexibilities you can get from doing it this way or that way on different PLC's. For example, if you are working on a program for a Micrologix1400 or a SLC PLC to communicate with your client's Compact/ControlLogix PLC. Of course, your client's PLC is locked and password protected to avoid any modifications from unauthorized personnel. What do you think about the situation now? Between advantages and flexibilities which one you value more now :))) My point is sometimes we just do not have a choice, we need to be able to work on both situations. Anyways thank you for your support to my channel. Please let me know if you have any more questions or any comments.

      @@SYPHOANG Thanks for taking the time to respond. Another reason I can think of (and thought of after I posted this question) is that I generally prefer to use READ messages than write. So it would be necessary to know how to do this on the Logix500 end. Again thanks for the video. I have looked at a few of yours and they are pretty good.

      @Donald Walukas: Once again thank you for your support to my channel. Thank you for your kind words on my videos and sharing your experience on my channel. When I make my videos, I always try to cover all the possibilities. It always is a great feeling when my work is appreciated and my experience has been helpful to others. May I ask you just one question. I am in the U.S. how about you? I am just curious because I got a lot of comments from people around the world everyday. Thank you.

    Hi SY P, thanks for the information. Very good video. I have a Micrologix 1400 PLC and Kinetix 5100 servo drive. I want to write the values of my speed and length to the Kinetix 5100 parameters. Can I do this using MSG instructions explicit messaging on RS500 ? If yes, what ID and instances should I use? Thanks

      @SYPHOANG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Davis Pang: Thanks for the sub! Unfortunately, I don't have experience working with Kinetix5100. From my experience, I would recommend you to set Kinetix 5100 servo drive as a modbus TCP server/slave and your Micrologix 1400 as a Modbus TCP Client/Master because Modbus is pretty generic.

    HI, SY P. What protocol is using here? CIP? I find Micrologix 1400 MSG instruction is very simple , which is specified only with several parameters. THANK YOU.

      @Dennis Jiu: It's using Ethernet driver.

    I did this configuration but shows E0 (hex) error ..what was the reason for that issue...I am using L32E compactlogix controller and L32 BXBA micrologix controller...

    • @SYPHOANG
      @SYPHOANG  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ajithkumar Elumalai: Is the error on the CompactLogix or Micrologix controller? Is it over ethernet? Unfortunately I have not experienced this.

    Sir, Generally we edit logic online and then upload in rslogix5000, what will happen when we modify logic and download, does it effect plant process or not?

    • @SYPHOANG
      @SYPHOANG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Naresh Kumar: If the controller is actually running in the plant, you should never modify the logic and download it to the controller. The reason is it will download all the default settings to the controller which might be very different that what is currently set on the controller. It will be a very serious issue if these setpoints are for SHUTDOWN. The unit will keep running while it should be shutdown just because you just reset all the shutdown setpoints. Hope this answers your questions. Please note even you use "Logic Designer Compare Tool" to compare the 2 programs, it will not show you the differences of parameters' values. It only compare the logic, NOT the values of variables. That is why you should only go online and modify the program. By doing that, you are actually only modifying the logic of the running program while all the variables' values stay exactly same. Please let me know if you have any more questions or concerns.
