You know, I just saw a listing for a 2007 BMW 335i RWD with a manual. 114,000 miles and surprisingly, it's a one owner clean car fax no accidents or damages reported. Photos look legit and it's also within my "budget" as a 25 year old. I wanted to inquire if it needs work, but idk if that is reflective of the 9k asking price. What do you think?

The E90 was one of the best chassis/handling platforms of the modern BMW 3 series. I owned the unicorn “launch edition” 2006 330i 6MT Sport. I say unicorn because that 330i engine was only made one year before they offered the N54 turbocharged version in 2007. No one knew it was coming so I was always bummed I bought one year too early!

As you are describing, the very heavy steering is because the power steering is done in that car. It should be fairly light at low speeds. My 2005 BMW X5 4.4i with 224k miles had the same issue. Regarding the engine issues, the college students you are referring to buy these high mileage cars with 3-4 previous owners, which beat the heck out of these cars and didn't use the right gas, hence the issues that can arise. If we are talking about a 1-owner, well maintained 335i, I can bet even by 200,000 miles it will run like new, and will only need preventative maintaince. They are very reliable and well built cars, and even after taking major abuse they still keep running. You have to service them properly and use only good premium gas. If either are not done, it will lead to long-term issues. Unfortunately many people don't understand that such complex and high-tech engines need good care and proper maintenance.

Ah, a car I would’ve owned back in college if not for the Infiniti G. This was so appealing since it had a more beautiful design and more tech in its class. The 328i I was testing was well maintained mechanically but it had a lot of wear in the seats, door panels and the center console. What a treat to see these again.

Stay away from N54s unless you have money to burn😂😂 If you want an E90 and you don’t want to break the bank, get an NA E90 with RWD and make sure the wp/thermostat have been done. Also, the starter will probably be going bad if it hasn’t been replaced. You’ll have some oil leaks too. BUT, once you get these things addressed they’re fantastic to drive. It’s the right size, and they feel super solid yet very agile. It’s my favorite generation of 3 series, as it’s the last generation that feels like the older cars, with great steering feel and awesome ride/handling balance. Last thing to say would be to make sure it doesn’t have run flats, as those ruin the ride and they’re expensive to replace. The biggest annoyances with the E90 imo are the lack of an oil dipstick and a coolant temp gauge.

If you’re looking for cheap relatively reliable and sporty enough transportation, go 328. If you’re prepared to do initial maintenance and want an amazing enthusiast euro tuner, go n54 335. I also have a 2007 bmw but it’s a 530i. I like bmws but don’t. I’m thinking about getting a Subaru or a Honda instead

Probably floaty cause I guarantee those thrust arms are shot. Same with the rest of the bushing packages. Most people don’t rebuild it fully and properly cause it’s so extensive and so expensive. It’s fine though it’s an old jiggly convertible

the engine is awesome but this generation of bmw has probably the worst build quality of all bmw's

God the e90 is so ugly. Whole car just blows cock with how unreliable the n54 is. These did come with WAY more tech than the e46’s tho. Which is pretty dang great

This guy is kind of a bland reviewer/driver. Hope he evolves. Tbh he kinda copies your style plus tedwards instead of creating his own.
