- ►In this video, Nate Vincent walks us through an oil change service on a 2005 Volvo S40. This job is applicable to any P1 Volvowith the naturally-aspirated 2.4L engine and the T5 turbocharged 5-cylinder engine.
Nate uses a pre-built kit from FCP Euro, which includes 7L of 5W-30 oil, the filter, the gaskets, and everything you'll need to get the job done.

The internet says this car takes 5.8L of oil. Decades ago I overfilled an engine with oil and it died within weeks so I'm super careful about capacity. My C30 oil changes start with 5.7L, low, 5.8L, low, 5.9L, low...

Hello 👋🏼 thanks so much for this video. Confirmed what I need to do. Currently learning how to do basic maintenance for my car. The recommended engine oil brand from my car’s manual is castrol. Does it matter?
The procedure with castrol will be the same, each manyfacturer has their preferred oil, we like to use Liqui Moly in all of ours.

Everytime I buy an oil filter for my c30 the filter comes with two o rings. One really thick one with almost a pull tab on it and one normal size one. I always use just the normal o ring but I have always wondered what the extra thick o ring is for? A different car?
Yes! The thick o ring is for Audi/VW cars that use the same type of filter.

5.8 Liters of oil is the recommended. Castrol synthetic high mileage
It litterarly says so on the panel in the trunk, and in the Manual, but thanks. Also you forgot about 5w-30 viscosity, but hey, as long as its Castrol you're good right? Lol
Should one lubricate the o ring before putting on the filter cap?
It never hurts to add a little bit of oil to the the o ring to help it seal.
Highly recommend! If the o-ring is dry it binds when you tighten the filter cap. If so the o-ring can be damaged and cause a leak.
Please how many litres of engine oil in total did you pour into the engine?
Will this be the same procedure for a 2011 volvo s40 t5
Yes! The only difference will be you won’t remove the shield behind the air intake!

Make sure timing belt has been replaced or be prepared to do this job yourself or pay specialist. Around $1000 job depending where you live

Do not torque the drain plug. *Do* *not* torque it. If it's 'snug' after getting it seated with a wrench or ratchet, it's plenty tight.

OEM OIL IS CASTROL EDGE
I strongly encourage everyone to do their own oil changes. My girlfriend is on her third splash shield because the oil change places don't put all the bolts back in and it ends up getting ripped and destroyed while driving. They also over tighten the oil filter, we ruined the cap taking it off last time, it just twisted and fell apart.

This video is all about how to do it wrong. that car is using the B5254T3 engine and it take 5.8L castrol oil. that dude filled over 6.5 Liters of oil on that car. now in a few days it will probely start to leak from the seals. he starts the car with 6 liters of oil in the engine. and then stop it to teck the oil level. the only thing he does not do is leting the oil drain to the oilpan. and sins its low on the pin he adds 0,5 Liters more. wtf do not listhen to this guy's

And may have worked on thos for 5 years now. so if you wona do the same as this guy go ahead no one is stoping you.
Volvo type of cars are so annoying to change oil in. most cars u just remove the filter and whatever. oh well, spark plugs next
