Thank you for this lesson. I love the Grateful Dead, and I especially love this song. I just started learning to play the Ukulele. I know how to play this song on guitar, so it's nice to know how to play it on the Ukulele. I just wish I were a better singer. 😁
@@andrewmills509 one of the things I like most about this job is introducing great new songs to people that like great music. Happy to hear this tutorial and song resonated with you. Check this cover out you’ll love it th-cam.com/video/RMauT8O_mFQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Du7FkGgUNdksGdme
Thanks, Tyler. I'm always...um... grateful for a Dead tutorial. If folks struggle with this tempo, they may want to know that starting in the mid-70s, when the Dead played this live, they slowed it down TREMENDOUSLY. Personally, I always prefered the faster acoustic version from American Beauty, but beginners like me may take solace knowing that if we slow it way down, Jerry would approve. :) If anyone wants to hear the slow (electric) version, it's here: th-cam.com/video/uTIFNQeV_QQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=djhQM7lG7KpZ0STV . Folks can also find a medium-speed acoustic version Jerry does with Dave Grisman on Letterman. Too much info, I know. Just thought I'd share.
@@bob_uker amazing! Thank you I just listened and a really loved it. There is a really nice duet Josh, or maybe Jacob turner, plays with claw hammer banjo I love but I definitely built the tutorial off the American Beauty album. I love the slower version that you shared too. You know it is a great song when any key, any tempo, it sounds good.
@@I_choose_Happiness it would be really hard because it is drop D, those are the hardest to arrange and get the spirit of the song exactly right. With that said I think it is basically a D or D7 for the whole song a basic version of strumming the D chord and playing the D blues scale would get you close

How do you strum so fast? 😮
@@KDuran-mn8ge two things. 1. I practice slow a lot, to get the mechanics and timing down perfect before I speed up. 2. A lose wrist.
