    I bought the Glockstore Tungsten guide rod for my Glock 43 about a month ago. I started getting multiple misfires. Five misfires in ten Glock factory magazines. This is my personal defense gun so constant misfires are a problem. I live right down the road from the Glock factory in Smyrna, Georgia, so I took it to the factory and asked what the problem was. I was told that the Glockstore guide rod was causing the misfires. He also said it might be causing damage to the internal parts of my gun too (I'm not sure about that but that's what the Glock guy told me). The Glock factory replaced by guide rod with a factory guide rod. After putting in the factory guide rod, the gun has fired perfectly ever since. I sent Lenny an email asking him to double check to make sure the guide rods he is selling are not causing misfires. I've not heard anything back. I called them because I returned the guide rod to Glockstore for a refund but the refund was late (due yesterday according to eBay) and the Glockstore guy on the phone said they were "aware of the issue." This conversation was today. I love Lenny and his videos but I thought this was worth mentioning.

      the guide rod lenny is talking about here isn't rated for the g43. why would you install a part that isn't rated for your g43 into it? this issue seems to be on your end for not using parts rated for your g43 and not the glockstores end.

I always appreciate Lenny's videos and consider them helpful and genuine. I know Lenny's making a sale, but its a good sales pitch because I feel like Lenny believes every word he is saying about what he's selling and trust him not to sell me any crap. Rock on Guys!

    Great video presentation. I am glad that this was shared with your customer's and audience due to the fact that there are many out on the web that talk about how there is no benefit, yet show no proof of no benefit to using either the Tungsten or Stainless Steel guide rods. I am glad someone finally showed the proof in the target as there is a difference. I wish more people would provide this type of proof of benefit versus just saying no benefit more metal is more lube and dust, etc. Thanks to the Glock Store I really enjoy your videos.

    I switched out all of my Glock factory plastic guide rods after my G-27's rod broke the first time I took it to the range after about 100 rounds through it. The range I shoot at had one in stock and I bought another plastic rod one. I talked with a friend who told me that the Achilles heel on Glocks are the factory guide rods he advised that I go to the Glock Store and switch them to the Tungsten Guide Rods. I replaced all my Glocks, and found an immediate difference. There was a little heavier and solid feel and better control. I tell all my friends and former LEO buddies to replace their plastic guide rods with tungsten.. Best investment for the $$$ and for dependability. I'm a Glock Guy all the way.......

    While the tungsten guide rod in my GEN 3 G23 does not improve my accuracy, it does allow for less muzzle rise and quicker target re-acqusition. This allows me to get off quicker follow-up shots. As a CPL (Concealed Pistol License) holder, that's exactly what i wanted out of my heavy tungsten guide rod. I have no need for one in my G19.

    I put a Tungsten guide rod in my Glock 22. And it malfunctioned lots of times. I learned that Glocks are good and reliable out of the box. Once you start messing with a gun and changing original parts that's what happens, it will malfunction like mine. When I was shooting the slide would not reset back all the way lots of times, probably 3 times out of a whole magazine it would not reset back all the way.

  • @tyler79durdan
    @tyler79durdan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I say “mags” and correct my kids to use that term, but traveling the states I’ve noticed that “clips” is more of a synonym based on your location. They know it’s a magazine but they call it a clip because everyone in that region calls it that. It’s just speaking the local lingo... you’ll hear “clips” from Texans, Virginians, and Louisiana folk... it’s a southern thing I suppose.

  • @oregonpatriot1570

    While I have no doubt using a heavy guide rod makes a difference (I use stainless), it's obvious that guy took more time shooting with the tungsten rod.

  • @tyler79durdan
    @tyler79durdan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Any true competition shooter will tell you that reducing your recoil spring weight will most effectively tighten up your groups because the slides violent forward motion is reduced and you get less bounce, meaning you stay on target a lot easier. Grip, spring weight, practice are a good place to start. Heavier weight up front just means you have to compensate the fall of the heavier muzzle with greater lift. It’s a balancing act IMO

  • @crossofintimidation
    @crossofintimidation 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Practice improves accuracy. A rod just helps reduce the muzzle rise.

    • @tyler79durdan
      @tyler79durdan 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So your spring weight needs to be heavy enough to to put the slide back into battery, while overcoming the trigger spring weight. The lower the recoil spring weight, the slower the slide moves forward and has less bounce upon returning to battery. The lower spring weight also leaves the chamber open longer allowing the spent casing to clear the chamber area and gives the mag more time to push up another round. Lower weights have a harder time pushing a round into a dirty or rough ramped chamber. You also need to be concerned about the loads you normally shoot having an effect on the longevity of the moving parts. Lighter spring could mean more wear in a gun shooting heavier loads. 13-11 pound in a G17 shooting 115 grain has the best balance between cycle time, effective load handling, and muzzle bounce. Stock 17 pound is meant to reliably cycle a wide range of ammo. You have a heavier spring for defensive type loads while still barely being able to fully cycle on lighter target loads. Most guys I shoot with use an 11 pound in race guns, while I shoot a 15 pound in my edc and a 13 pound in my 17L. I like the light weight in the longer gun to keep the muzzle from bouncing up and down when I’m trying to get back I target faster. Plus having the slide open longer is a good benefit. Hope that helps you some since Lenny doesn’t give a shit.

    I got a hold of one of these and tested against a gen 3 polymer guide rod, NO difference at all what so ever, not even in the slightest amount just another glock store gimmick, I think these things sell for 80$ on the website as well, don't waste your money! Instead spend the 80 on ammo and train with it! That will improve your grouping. Lenny is a crock riding on glocks success.

  • @JettyLife23
    @JettyLife23 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Or you could just add more trigger time to your training regiment and learn to control the recoil... Because when your slide cracks, or starts malfunctioning, any glock armorer is going to say, "you modded the guide rod to non-factory spec, we're not replacing your slide."

    This thing doesn't improve accuracy, it decreases muzzle rise making follow-up shots easier. To be honest, if you're rich enough to afford this you may as well fork over even more cash for a guide rod made out of iridium, if you can get it custom made. Iridium is even heavier than tungsten, so the gun should barely move at all.
