Yes, I just keep the trolling motor in a straightforward position and use my rudder for direction. Usually it's just small corrections here and there so it works very nice that way
Cool intro song. This set up is practical and on a budget. I like it. The way you have the motor mounted looks different than the pic on Amazon. Is there a reason? I left a like 👍🏽 you got a new sub
The water snake has two types of setups, one has a built-in type mount the other is a stand-alone trolling motor. That's the one I got and purchased a Brooklyn motor mount for it.
the mount is flexible when you loosen the screws so as long as the holes are standard size and they are within the maximum distance you should be good.
Yes I still use it. I only take it when I am going longer distances. Otherwise I just peddle. I use a 28 or 50 ah battery depending on where I am going. That will get me around 1.5 hours or 3 hours of continuous use.
I think that is mostly due to my setup. I am not able to get the motor as far down into the water as you might otherwise, so it makes a sloshing sound as it pulls in a little air. I think it would be much quieter if it was on a kayak with a little less free board.
'more' noise is kind of vague :) More than what? If you mean being close beside me instead of up front or back on the stern, I would say yes. Its a bit noisie being right next to me especially as the shaft is not super long and does not allow the drive prop to be deep in the water. So you get a fair bit of prop noise. I just sing a little louder!
What battery would you recomment to use with this? For reference, I fish a medium size lake and would only use the motor to cross the lake. My kayak has pedal propulsion and I would use that most of the time. Thank you!
Hi, I use an 18ah Lithium Ion battery. This will get you a little over an hour on high or 2.5 hrs on low. Sounds like that will work for what you want to do. 🙂
definitely like the low price and easy setup. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Cool little setup on a budget!
Excellent video, thank you. Do you use your skeg at the same time with the motor? If so, how does it affect the kayak?

Looks great

Glad I watched this before buying a Watersnake. That is a noisy motor!

Does it create more noise mounting it this way?

How much amp hour does the trolling motor use?
7 or 9 ah depending on your speed per the documentation
@@thekayaklaunch nice! Can't wait to get one too
Does you kayak track straight? I am using a 4 stroke petrol motor and am tracking to the right. And is there any long term effects from thec flexing?
Nope runs pretty straight.
Where can i buy trolling mount ? Thanks
