    Came across these videos randomly. I LS3 swapped with LSA blower both my Genesis and GTO (on my channel). Added this to my GTO with the LSA as well and I love it. My IATs are always within 7-10 of ambient! Good to see another brotha turning his own wrenches. Props, real thorough vids you have!

      LS3_LaFlare hey man. I appreciate ya. I’m trying to keep em coming. Hopefully some of the ideas I have will come to life real soon. Preciate ya ✊🏽 I had a 04 GTO but I sold it for this car. I build a single passenger side turbo kit for it but that was before I was doing the TH-cam thing. I miss my GTO lol

      Hi friend did you have any problems with your paint on the heat extractor bubbling or wrinkling up? I cleaned it did 2 coats of primer 2 coats of gloss black and 1 coat of clear and it wrinkled up in some spots, I dont know what went wrong🤔

    • @GetItAtWiLL
      @GetItAtWiLL  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not, what paint are you using. I did 2-3 coats of primer, 3-4 coats of black gloss and 2-3 coats of clear, and I waited 30 mins - 60 mins between gloss and clear and I let it cure for at least 24 hrs before I handled it.

      Rustoleum brand

    • @GetItAtWiLL
      @GetItAtWiLL  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's weird though, I did use the Dupli-Color brand for mine, but it was the same stuff in a spray can. I'd suggest sanding it down. Make sure the part is a nice and cool temperature before applying the paints and sit it out in the sun or someplace warm once you fininsh with your final coat to ensure it cures properly. Usually it's all about the prep, not saying you didn't prep it or anything. Hopefully it'll stick properly this time.

    Hood looks bent at front of vent@34:47 and beyond when light catches the hood can see its all wavey around vent and after reviewing video again I noticed it's not centered as well....

    I know this video is old but can you explain how you spray painted the vent?

    • @GetItAtWiLL
      @GetItAtWiLL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It came in a black abs plastic which didn’t look bad but it was like a semi/flat black so all I did was hit it with like 2 primer coats, 3-4 coats of the gloss black I used and then hit it with 2-3 coats of 2k clear. These are all just aerosol spray paint cans too.

      I cut it with enough room to adjust it maybe a 1/8- 1/4 of an inch either direction so I can shift it ever so slightly. If it is I prob didn’t notice at the time. I’ve taken it on and off a time
      Or two since so hopefully I put it back on a little more centered then lol

  • @JonjHoffman
    @JonjHoffman ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You need to cover where you cut with paint so the cuts don't rust.

    • @GetItAtWiLL
      @GetItAtWiLL  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s an aluminum hood lol but that is good advice for other metals that do rust. I believe I did put some paint to the cut edges though before final install just didn’t film it.

      It’s a Chevy SS, or Holden… I have a 2011 camaro 2ss and I’m about to do the hood vent install too. (I am going to use the drip tray) Love your type SSs too! Rare here in the US. Even for the Chevy version

  • @bonecrrusherSS

    This video came up in my suggested playlist. I've been look at this same vent!
    Did you have any issues with the drip tray hitting the ZL1 lid?

    • @GetItAtWiLL
      @GetItAtWiLL  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      bonecrrusherSS I had zero issues with any contact with the drip tray and ZL1 lid. The upper water connection to the lid for the intercooler brick did have slight contact but I was able to just loosen and angle it down a little more.

    How's the water drip to your bay engine? Is it okay ?

    • @GetItAtWiLL
      @GetItAtWiLL  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      kM bruuhhh no issues at all. That’s one reason I decided to keep the drip tray. Granted I don’t open the hood anytime after it rains to check but I’ve never seen water inside when I have

  • @dfletch2883
    @dfletch2883 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The installation looks great but this kind of heat extraction is useless because the drip tray doesn't allow heat to exit the vents and of course water comes in if you remove thr tray, i say this because I've use this before and i find when you cut a hole in the hood and cover it with a full scoop that vents towards the windshield, it works 100% better

    • @GetItAtWiLL
      @GetItAtWiLL  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was more of a cosmetic deal for me. I do feel like some radiant heat may be getting extracted but I didn’t have any crazy under hood temperatures anyway. I wish I had done a more scientific test before and after. But the way the drip tray curves down in the front I’d feel that some air passing through the grill would be picked up and evacuated. I’m not sure how much of a vacuum effect the air passing over the hood and over the vent created but I’d think it’s something but regardless lol I just wanted the look

    Fantastic job my friend!!! I just finished my LSA sc swap on my camaro ss and should hopefully receive my SLP heat extractor vent today. Did lower your IAT's?

    • @GetItAtWiLL
      @GetItAtWiLL  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a ton!!! I'm not 100% sure about the IAT's, I know for a fact under the hood is not as hot, but I never measured the temperature prior to, but I'd assume the IAT's are a few degrees cooler too.

      Do you know roughly how much in length of your bolts you cut off? Did you use spray primer on your hood? Your hood really turned out nice, great job!!!

    • @GetItAtWiLL
      @GetItAtWiLL  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickygray7767 I do not remember the length honestly. I had an idea and then I just cut the excess off the bolts and I painted the excess raw metal black to match. but no primer or anything on the hood

    What do you do when water gets in the engine bay and the car stalls or damages Electronics

    • @GetItAtWiLL
      @GetItAtWiLL  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I kept the drip tray on the underside that came with it so it collects the water and drains it all to the front in front of the belt drive. However even if it did I think where the water would land wouldn’t prove too troublesome. But that’s why I kept the tray just in case
