"Why are you so bad pause"
Forgot pause cancels on firing.
I think Pause + any orbital is still pretty much a guaranteed won run? At least every other room. And he DEFINITELY had a meaty cube in that moment.
@@Potatezone I think it lasts for 30s max, so getting a 9 volt (which he did see one) meaning every wave can be paused for 30s for the cube.
So.....yep he missed out on a hell lot.

Hey hutts, I know with the regular Void you can suck up items as you're holding them over your head so you can suck shop / devil items. Might work with abyss too. EDIT: Also, pause stops pausing when you shoot, but since you were shooting when you used it, it barely paused at all.
it 100% does work with abyss, ToG has been doing it for a bit

@@carlangas0100 nope, it means that you successfully succ'd the item so you'll never get the item effect (to prevent players from breaking the run too easily) the thing is for devil/shop items they couldn't get succ normally so this is how they implemented the mechanic so you can actually succ them

Fun fact:
If you pick up an item and use abyss while Apollyon is still holding it above his head, you can turn it into a locust. Also works with the Void too.
yeah this trick is VERY useful for tainted apollyon, getting extra locusts from shops on early floors cam be a lifesaver.

@@douglaslopes5913 Its coded to not work, you can check the wiki. This is because the room does not open when you click the button. Thats when the effect does trigger. I could be wrong here and it could instead be coded to just not work in this mode but the event trigger seems more obvious.

I bet there’s a challenge you can make with Tainted Apollyon where you can only use special flies, but I’m not sure how to balance it
Would test, but A, I haven't really looked at Repentance enough to see the new stuff, and I was one of those idiots who cleaned their save files, and B, I don't know how to unlock Debug Console for Repentance.
To fix problem A, I could disable Repentance DLC, and do the F2 trick to sync a save file to my Steam Achievements, that way I have something to go off of.
you do realise thats pretty much just a normal tainted apollyon run right????? last run i did i finished with about 10 items total, and that was only because they were health/damage ups.

Nice run man, good stuff. Also, some info you might need (and might be said by others as well):
- Pause works for 30 seconds or when you press a fire button (shoot tears). Also, seems to be effective against damage-scaling armor bosses (like Ultra Greed or Hush), since their damage scaling is based on the damage done each second, and in stopped time they don't scale the damage. Probably only useful when having orbitals or familiars to deal damage without firing.
- You can succ up items while in the "holding_above_head" animation upon picking them up, that's how you suck items from shops and devil deals (still have to buy them beforehand tho, usually not worth it) (works with both Void and Abyss)
- When at choice-pedestals, when you use an item that consumes item pedestals from the room (like Void or Abyss), they count as only one item (of that room's pool, if relevant for the item), so it's the same as only having one item pedestal in the room.
Either way, keep up the awesome content, and props to the genius editor for the genius editing of the vids, and to you for the fun of them :))
tainted apollyon feels a bit unfinished, he shouldve had unique locusts for every item, like how bethany has unique wisps for each active item.
btw editor is still amazing
Don't know how true it is but I've seen multiple people say that Tainted Apollyon will get more locust effects with updates like how Delirium is supposed to get reworked in an update

yeah apparently theres over 500 items that have unimplemented/planned locust effects (read this on the wiki page for abyss, not sure if its 100% true.)
I would honestly prefer if Tainted Apollyon was unable to fire tears in the first place, to incentivise you to use Abyss on as many items as possible and especially ones that give special Locusts, because there's no reason to use it on Cricket's Head, Holy Shot, or Jacob's Ladder when your tears are still far more reliable. His face is already halfway cracked, might as well go full out on that.

Just beat boss rush and hush (plus heart, isaac and ???) with jacob and esau. There's a new level of video game masochism i discovered while doing this that not even the lost can mimic. I feel i stared into the abyss and the abyss stared back and i will never be the same.
1:50 you can abyss an item during the pickup animation, so if you buy a devil deal or shop, you can use abyss during the pickup animation to get a fly.
I have a theorycraft. You know how all of the characters you play as are just Isaac dressed up in different outfits and gimmicks. And the order of which character you can play goes as Isaac, Magdalene, Cain, etc. We also know that Magdalene is the name of Isaac’s mother, and all of the characters Isaac dresses up in have some sort of importance in his life. My theory is that Cain is Isaac’s father. Some evidence to this is that we know Isaac’s father was a gambler, making sense to why Cain starts with Lucky Foot. His eyepatch, though a far-fetched guess, could be on Cain to stand for Isaac’s father taking away, or “blinding, Isaac from the future he could have had with his father. The paperclip could resemble Isaac’s father stealing money from Maggy’s purse. If you disagree, agree, or want to add more, just put it in the comments.
Honestly, I feel like if Isaac's father is anyone, he's Lazarus. After all, when we see Isaac's father, his hair is styled like Lazarus' hair.
As for Cain, it's more likely that he's a Dungeons and Dragone representative; there's a theory that Isaac, Maggy, Cain, and Judas are based off the main four classes of D&D: Isaac is the Fighter, Maggy is the Cleric, Cain is the Thief, and Judas is the Wizard.
Best episode in a long time! Not pissed off at everything, didn't overuse Tim (or use him at all), and it was a close win. Happy to see some positivity in repentance!

@@chillrendbeats Tim was created to represent the comment section, because everybody screams at hutts for every single little detail and every charged key he doesn't maximize, so overusing Tim is not really Hutts' fault as much as it is the comments' fault. If people stopped going all "Why aren't you pausing when you have your D6 ready aaaa" he wouldn't even have conceived Tim in the first place.
I mean, he gets pissed off when shit out of his control happens, it's not "OMG the game isn't giving me all of the items I want, reset" like some other streamers do. When a bullshit hyper-speed shot comes out of the screen WHILE he is distracted fighting other things, and it hits him, it's only fair to be pissed off, when the dev himself says "Ooh, you should take every pill, they are definitelly worth it :)" and they are as shit (some might argue they are worse) as ever and it basically ruins the run, then getting pissed off is innevitable.
Also take into account some of the videos might be stream-highlights, and very likely to be the 5th+ run he did in a row, the stress of the other runs accumulate, and with chat saying "do this, do that" it only grows faster.
I also find it funny (to a certain degree) when he "rages", and I bet a majority of the people watching here also do, I wouldn't go out of my way to make him rage (like other people do), idk why.
Yes, positivity is good, I liked this episode, a lot, but when the game gives you shit time after time (and I know, because I've played games like Isaac), it's REALLY hard to stay level-headed.
The special Locust mechanic is very strange. Almost all of the special items are things that you wouldn't ever want to sacrifice. spoonbender might be worth it, but Cricket's Head certainly is not.

I think Pause is an underrated item. If you have a Bomb effect and a good amount of bombs, that's a free boss kill, or if you have an automatic familiar or two, then you can cheese whatever room you want.
I’m a simple man, I see Hutts upload, I click.
1. You always take half heart damage on greed/greedier unless you get hit by a champion.
2. Ice cube has a chance based on luck to petrify enemies for 4 seconds upon entering a room. Killing these enemies freezes them, even after the petrify wears off. Ice cube doesn't do anything for tears, and does nothing for spawned enemies like in mob trap rooms or greed mode.

It deals dmg MUCH FASTER and tear effects apply to the puddles

Aquarius is one of my favourite items now since it inherits most Tear effects now. Homing Creep is awesome
Aquarius is actually insanely good now. The dmg has been buffed a bunch and it synergies with almost every tear effect.

Pause is in that rabbit-hole of 'doesn't show up often enough-don't know how to use it-never pick it up anyways' that most """""complex""""" active items fall into.

Challenge idea: Start with Keeper's Sack, Candy Heart and Soul Locket. Only allowed to take shop items and boss items
That first floor devil card was OP. My Greedier run with thus guy almost had me second guessing my opinion that J&E was the worst.
Fun fact: If you use The Abyss while holding an item above your head, you'll suck it up. Meaning you can buy an item from the Shop and then suck it up quickly.

Hutts, pause freezes till you either shoot a tear or its time runs out. It lasts a lot longer that what you made it last because you shot! You're an isaac master man, come on.

Pause only works as long as you don't shoot. Use it to move around and place bombs :)

Pause only keeps the enemies in place until you start shooting, or until thirty seconds have passed. It's not bad if you have an orbital, so long as you don't shoot.
Cant wait for tainted character artwork. Like for vanilla characters.
hutts pause works until you start shooting again, so its useful if ur about to get hit and then you can go walk somewhere else and continue shooting. it isn't some set time
also womb+ only gives half a heart of red damage in greed not full heart red damage like the full game
the reason why you didn't get a charge after fighting greed (in the room before ultra greed) was because when you entered the room, there were no enemies. Therefor, you cannot be given a room clear reward for that room.
I think the no charge in the room before Ultra Greed is because the enemies technically spawn after the room begins, and that means no charge in the game (think of when you hit a button and leeches spawn, doors still lock but you get no charge.)
Hutts, you might be still thinking about why not getting a charge for Pinking Shears. It's because the room was already cleared before spawning Greed and it doesn't count as the room not being cleared.
You can Abyss items held above your head right after you buy them to turn coins into locusts.
1. Pause only stops when you don't shoot
2. Mom's pearls is technically health since it gives a soul heart
3. The no charge before ultra greed is not a bug because it spawns an enemy in an active room like a button, versus starting a new room (like it did prior to repentance)
I don't usually comment a lot at all on TH-cam. But let me just say the song used in the edits are absolutely crushing it. Formidable, amazing.
The enemy in the last room was not there before, therefore spawning it after the room was empty does not grant charges when killing it

Just some advice for the future: Void was changed so that you can suck up items you purchase from shops or Devil deals if you use it immediately after picking the item up. Abyss follows this same logic.
with the Void you can void items that you hold above your head when you buy something, idk if its the same on tainted void

Fun fact if you have pause and cube of meat in greed or greeder you have an op combo because pause pauses enemy's until you fire your tears but cube of meat doesn't count so you can kill every enemy in the game including ultra greed and ultra greeder pretty fast just with 2 items and plus of you have sharp plug you can use pause infnet times

Btw incase you didnt know thay buffed aquarius to now have your tear damage, tick faster and get tear effects. So you can have homing creep for example

Money talks its and could be an excellent item as I felt and realized that it makes you only use one coin to open those treasure room instead of 5 for a single key!
Plus I oddly confuse it always with the night light somehow or think of those two together.

You never take full heart damage on Greed mode unless it’s an attack that always does a full heart like Angel contact damage
Soy Milk sets your tears to 15 tears/sec (1 tears in AB+) and can make you go down to AB+'s equivalent of 0.5 tears AKA 30 tears/sec and the reduced its awful knockback. It's extremely OP and a hard carry item, now 100%.
The room before greed has no enemies at the start of the room,they appear when you get to the door

12:33 It seemed to me that BFF doesn't work on flies, you need Hivemind for them. And I didn't notice that they visually got bigger after picking up the BFF. But the key and the cube of meat got bigger.
Just charge the scis in the 11th wave of the shop, grab the d6, do angel things, and then pick up the scis, and it’ll be charged
Someone else may have already said it, but Pause wasn't working because you fired tears; that disables the effect. You should've used your flies and cube of meat to deal damage while everything was frozen. #huttstim
