The best tainted maggie setup is: candy heart(permanent random stat boost for every half red heart picked up), isaac's heart, serpent's kiss and placenta. I had all of them in my first run as tainted maggie

Repentance isn't stale, they are.
@@Void-fb5ts Items never feel like they can win you a run. To have a good run you need a LOT of good items, and those have A DECREASED CHANCE TO APPEAR. Also they gutted Dark bum, all black heart generating items and made devil deals way worse than angel rooms due to the fact that they nerfed all good devil deal items
@@mohitonon-alco4287 Alright, so after over 700 runs of experience and 100%'ing almost every single character, including the T. Characters, except for 3 and obviously on Hard. All of this was done on a reset save file.
No, the "special items" system has been removed from Repentance... It's now item weight and even with the decreased chance to appear, I see at least one of them every time I go for a Devil Deal run, unlike Angel Deals which, if you're slightly unlucky, they'll fuck you pretty badly and you'll most likely die as a result of it. I'd say Angel Deals are more of a gamble, because of the much lower frequency of good items. And no the notion that any type of HP or movements speed is more important in Repentance than it's ever been is just straight up wrong, I can attest to that. Just try doing a Devil Deal run even once and you'll see what I mean.
Dark Bum still has a fucking 40% chance to pay out with black hearts, he's still extremely helpful, as I found out on one of my runs to Mother. Plus, I'd say this is more of a buff, since the pills, cards and runes could prove to be even more helpful.
Maw doesn't need the heart generation to be a hard carry, hell it does the 2nd highest DPS a single item could do, only beaten by Mom's Knife. I can see why they nerfed it. I swear it's still good, you should stop comparing it to what it was. Serpent's Kiss still gives black hearts... Almost as much as before too. Also, Fruit Cake gives black hearts.
All in all, even after all those nerfs, Devil Deals are still superior to Angel Deals, if you've got the HP. If you haven't just don't go into the first deal! Balanced.
Nerfed =/= Bad, man. Brim does much higher DPS than Revelation's beam. Maw does almost double Revelation's DPS even with the tears. Mom's Knife still stands as the highest DPS in the game. Literally almost nothing changed about Abaddon. Satanic Bible rework is a BUFF and NOT a nerf, it gives you a higher chance of getting a hard carry. Nail is useless now, this is the only one I agree with. Other than that, Devil Deals remained the same, the dynamic pricing isn't very impactful at all. It's still a good trade for HP. Doesn't sound nerfed to the EXTREME LEVELS that everyone is making it out to be.
That's all I've got! If you don't agree that's ok, I can assure you're missing out on many easy wins, it's your choice.

There needs to be a mod that shows you what the second question mark pedestals were after you choose the other one. Just as a nice little bit more of a middle finger to the players.
I got Isaac's Heart on my first "Maggie" run and I had very similar results. It's so good.
Unlocked her yesterday. Very fun to play if you build damage and red health. Don't neglect your tears though for tougher bosses, since hugging delirium is rarely an option.
And for the love of god don't take anything that removes all your heart containers. You will die. Especially brittle bones and abbadon. Also, she has fast clears, so getting to boss rush and hush will be common.
Edit: the wiki states that toxic hugs scales with damage (6x if i recall corectly).

the hug mechanic is so interesting and it works so well with issac's heart and bob's brain which might tells us that ed's fav character is tainted mag
this is what i love about the tainted characters (and some normal characters as well)
it gives you more reason to take certain items you would otherwise wouldn't
I had an amazing setup with cracked dice bloody recharge since the yum heart heals the same amount it damages you for it was basically an infinite hurting machine meaning that I could now reroll every item infinitely and I also got moms box so it procked more often that run cemented tainted maggy as my favorite tainted character.
I love how Maggie’s melee attack is called “lethal hugs” . I never thought I would hear the word lethal and hugs used in a sentence to describe an attack but here we are. Also the game is weird (not in a bad way) so I wouldn’t be as be as confused as I would if this game was normal

My best Tainted Maggie build consisted of candy heart, soul locket, bandage, and gimpy. Was dropping just as many non-disappearing hearts on the ground as disappearing ones. Blind rage trinket was also in there

also, that king baby + Lil Brim, god i want that, for anyone that doesnt know King Baby now makes your familiars auto aim at enemies when hes holding them down, so if you have a bunch of attack familiars with KIng Baby you wont have to manage them at all.

Candy heart with Tainted Maggie, that’s the first item I got on my first run, and I was not disappointed. The half hearts count, so you get the permanent stat upgrades when picking them up and T-Maggie loses red health naturally so you make room to gain more stat upgrades, or you can just get hit to lose red health since you get it back frequently. And one last thing, you do not lose angel/devil room chance as the “Temporary heart containers” do not count as real red health. (Angel rooms > Devil rooms).

Today I unlocked Tainted Maggie. I found Midas' Touch, Immaculate Conception, Ludovico, Blind Rage and Virgo. She's a BEAST. I went through Boss Rush, Hush, Chest, Mega Stan and Delirium in a single run.

I had a pretty good Tainted Maggie run that had a lot of "on taking damage" effects. Celtic Cross, Curse of the Tower are the two I remember off the top of my head, but I'm sure there were more.
Isaac's Heart with Tainted Maggie looks pretty damn, though.
Hutts, Sharp Plug + Tainted Maggie is something you’ve got to see.. it’s complete immortality. If by chance you end up picking up a larynx in the run, which i just did during such a fun... it’s insane.
Man, all these new "melee" characters really makes isaac's heart shine. Got it in my first item room as tainted Samson and it was by far my best run with him.

just some fun recommendations for tainted maggy: health regen is as easy as leaving some uncleared rooms, Always play sac rooms, blood machines and demon beggars as long as you can clear some rooms to get health back. you will get a ton of free shit and money, I've literally had the game hand me sacred heart floor one with a sac room and I was no where close to dying.
I reccomend either playing tainted maggie aggressive or passive aggressive aggressive is where you will try a item combo where you can have stable health and picking up dmg up items and relying on your hug atack and any items that activate upon touch and passive aggressive is basically how you use isacc

The obvious contenders I can think of for "make it a better run" items are cube meat/sac dag/other dope orbitals, virus/ecoli/midas touch, athame would be godly, samsons rage or whatever it is that increases your dmaage for the floor the more you damage yourself,

i got cracked orb the other run with tainted maggie and it's such a good item for her, because every bit of damage reveals the floor and opens rooms, so it's really nice

My setup that got me through Dogma + Beast:
Cracked Orb = Maggy loves getting hit, basically having the cracked orb do it's affect every room.
Varcose Veins = Constant blood creep.
Sac Dag = Close contact
Shard of Glass = Constantly being hit + insane amount of damage from blood that spurts out.
Charm of the Vampire = Need health anyways since contact damage.
2Spooky4Me = yeah.
Guardian Angel + Ball of Bandages = keeping shots from hitting me when contact killing.

If Ed can design a character that makes you want and ask for Isaac’s heart and Bob’s brain then you know he’s created a special character
Hutts it's a good idea to save your judgement/temperance cards for the next floor so you can bomb the beggar together with greed dude from the shop and get double the bonus for angel room

Sharp plug on maggie is a one item break hutts, you can infinitely spam the heart and constantly be in i-frames while still doing the hugs

The best run I've ever had with Tainted Maggy was a run with Sharp Plug and the Old Bandage. Spam click Q and there you go, infinite health. Mix that with Curse of the Tower and it's gg.
I got converter in a couple of my tMaggy runs, while it doesnt give permanent hearts having red heart containers is much better than any sort of soul heart
Looked like a fun run! Enjoyed watching it.

Sharp plug with tainted Maggie is broken. You can spam use her yum heart for the invincibility frames and become immune to damage while hugging things
Tirdy touch with that build, maybe with the turd transformation to heal half hearts from the poops combined with midis touch and greeds gullet making the tirdy tough make golden poops when touching people. That with money = power and petrified poop

So Tim is a real person, but he had so much pressure on hutts that Tim became hutts anxiety demon, Tim is forcing hutts to play and stream isaac because he likes hutts suffering from making bad decisions, we need a more indepth explanation.

Sharp plug and spam yum heart, perma invincibility... but the odds are low
Only works since tainted Maggie doubles the heal effect and sharp plug takes half a red hear per charge so 2 hearts damage 2 hearts heal, spamming causes damage then heal and you get eye frames so it goes on forever while you hug the life out of things

Soul of Magdalene is INSANELY powerful on fights like Mother or Ultra Greed where there are a lot of spawned enemies, especially on Tainted Eve where each kill is just an extra Clot.
Also pretty much any item that triggers on damage taken is insanely good on Maggy. Black Bean especially. Which is REALLY WEIRD TO SAY.
I had a car battery+sharp plug run with Tainted Magdalene, knocked out Hush, The Lamb, Mega Satan and Delirium.
Candy Heart is really good for Tainted Maggie, if you find an enemy spawner you can farm stat ups endlessly until you get bored of it.

low key, curse of the tower is a very fun Tainted maggie item just cause your always taking that damage and in your I frames, and the troll bombs are just dealing damage across the room for you

The Dauntless took me a bit to figure out, but she's basically a berserker character. Don't know how good she is for regular play, but she's an absolute _beast_ in Greed Mode.
