You’re wasting time, effort and money on these stings when you release them somewhat unconditionally. So I do not see the purpose of the stings as even the illegal workers know that they can continue to stay in the UK illegally. All of them basically have the same claims that they have lost their passports, knowing that they will not be deported.
By the time their passports are found, they would have absconded!

I agree. They send them away on bail, and they are never seen again. What is the point of any of it? Put them in the holding centre at least until they sort out the papers. The illegals know what is going to happen and that's why they aren't actually that bothered when they are caught.

I realize immigration has a job to do but how much sense does it make to release someone on bail and say you can’t work- wait for us to get paperwork to send you home- how long will that take and how are they to survive until it happens? It just does not seem logical.

on our farm we have a wood heater for our hot water . We called it a chip heater it did not take very long to heat up the hot water. It had a small fire box and as children it was our job to set it going after we got home from school .it was independent from our stove which was like an AGA ie we did at one stage run the pipes across and under the plates on top of the stove and ovens to heat. But the advent of better wood heating hot water tanks etc it was easier to just heat the hot water for an hour before we all had our showers. Being in Australia we did not have to contend with extreme cold weather.

      "Back" where?
Because that's the point of immigration service not sending them home, because without an official document nobody can know for sure, with a 100% accuracy, where their home is.
And a country wouldn't allow entry within its territory without the person having a valid proof of ID, so it's not you can send them to a random country around the world.
Unless there's a dedicated treaty between countries, where country B would accept citizens removed from country A by default (normally in return for money), since they would "outsource" the repatriation of illegal immigrants.
