Does this process also apply to direct drive turntables?

Thankyou very much, I have the same marantz turntable.

like a wheel bearing on a cars axle shaft, the friction over time resonates to an audible level Early on it is somewhat noticeable and progressively becomes obviously apparent. this is where the audiophile argument comes in. If your mechanic replaces the wheel bearing at the early signs of play in the rim on the shaft, some will tell you the mechanic is screwing you because you didn't hear or feel something that they did. A decent needle will pick up and transfer that rumble of friction and play as a low frequency in your speakers. A good ear can easily hear it.

You are absolutely correct ............i did this for almost 3 decades and the platter keeps spinning longer than 4 minutes ........and the sound improves a lot ( just like having an expensive upgrade in sound quality )
One one turntable I even used a drop of teflon oil in the syntetic oli and that spins for over 5 minutes .
Great advice to audiophiles and it cost almost nothing !
The only thing that doesn't lie to you is YOUR own ears . To many believe the marketing hype !

You always want less friction on your shaft when you're inserting it in and out of the bush-ing 😉👍

I love your direct original thoughts , most TH-camrs just re echo what the they see hear from the herd

    Is this too viscous ?
    Very informative video

I doubt this concept of turntable in total. . Perfect tuentable starts with very sensitive and low weighting arm and pickup and very efficient electronic stabilization for driving normal weight platter revolutions. The havier is platter the more strain goes to driving it motor and transmission Escaping from fluctuations and vibration by adding big masses to everything arm included causes problems of friction in bushing, rigidity of construction, ,durability of materials and LPs. and needle wear.

I disagree, even though he could have made a 60 second Tic Toc about it we would have missed all the passion expressed, I enjoyed every second of it. I hope he doesn't pay attention to your suggestion.
