Small haul, but really good! Thanks for the brush cleaning tips because I tried to thoroughly clean mine a little while back and it was a job. Never even thought of mineral spirits and there’s usually some on hand. Have a good week and looking forward to seeing your makeovers on these items. Thanks
Thank you for covering how to care for the brushes. I wondered if brushes used for wax had to be kept separate from those used for painting. Some brushes are pretty expensive to purchase.
Short but sweet! I enjoyed the haul but appreciated the brush tips. I have used dish soap and water but it's such a hassle so mostly I don't clean them, just covered in plastic. This will be much better. I will put mineral spirits on my purchase list. Thanks!
Rachel, your little haul has some really neat items. My favorite is the faux Lenox Santa, and the bowl was a close second. Thank you for the tutorial on cleaning and care of your wax brushes. I was wondering about the care of them. I know that having the cottage in a state of disarray isn't the best option for you. Have no fear, it will soon be put back into a pristine state. Have a good rest of your week and will be looking for the Sat video. By the way, love that you played a little hookey and hit the thrift stores. LOL I bet that was a stress reliever! Retail therapy on a budget.
Thanks for the wax brush cleaning tutorial! What about your regular paint brushes that you use for acrylic and chalk paint? Dish soap just doesn't cut it for me. I've heard that fabric softener works really good but I haven't tried it yet.
I was happy to find at least a few things for Christmas! :) Thank you!! And honestly the use of mineral spirits was borne a little out of laziness on my part . . . I just got so tired of having to clean my brush every time I used it (I use it a LOT, lol) and it just became easier to leave it in the mineral spirits rather than clean it all off and dry it and put it away, haha.

Rachel: you selected some very nice items. It was a good shopping trip! That gold finished compote was very interesting. Carol from California
Thank you, Carol! The compote is definitely a favorite. 😊
You did good on your haul. Love the trees. I wash all of my brushes with water and dish soap. It works real well and they last for years.

Nice haul and good idea for the wax brushes. I use lye soap to clean mine. Works well also
