There are two kinds of character creations:
- Perfect replicas of characters
- Unholy abominations, unfit for mortal eyes.
Don't forget about the third type
- OC do not steal
- Catboys
I love how you can make a character that just doesn't look ready or suited for the task of being an Arisen, but it still works in the lore because an Arisen can be anyone that just won't die even if they want to lol
Grey Leno being included in the thumbnail tells me this is gonna be a fun experience

The first game was one of the very few games that I spent over 400h hours on, and part of it was definitively fucking around with the character creator

Dropping the character creator early was such a great move - the main mechanic of hiring other player's pawns is core to the game, so the ability to customize/create them to this degree before the game comes out is going to be awesome, because you'll see all of them as you go through the game!
It means we probably will see way less garbage pawns on release
I definitely wish more games did this, I spent two hours creating my character and pawn. Saves me a lot of time before the game comes out.

Vinnys second character looks like something Psycicpebbles would draw, but it someone escaped to the real world and is now breathing very heavily.

It's a shame Vinny never played DD1, I feel like he would have had a blast with how much there is to the Pawn system AI and its quirks, and his ability to cause weird shit to happen.
It's kind of like adventuring with Serana in Skyrim, but her behavior shifts over time from learning new bad habits.
Not to mention the combat is fun as fuck.

I like the fact that you can make legitimately scary looking characters. Most games when you try to make a weird character, they don't fit the aesthetic of the game, but the second character looks like he would be an enemy in this game.

You could make a whole documentary about the cut content from DD1, its basically a video game version of Jodorowsky's Dune
Yeah, DD2's world is 4x the size of DD1's. The game gives heavy "Fellowship of the Ring" vibes and not just Monster Hunter with its organic travel structure and limited fast travel. It's definitely not trying to be like the average open world game.

Hot take, I prefer the character creator of the first game.
I’m absolutely terrible with sliders, so the huge selection of eye/nose/ear presets etc was great IMO.
Same. Presets in this game, especially for women, are absolutely awful. And hair option are disappointingly limited. And a lot of obvious options are missing too, like being able to make a character smaller than 160cm.
It's not bad per se, but I expected much more. Teeth customization is a cool idea, but who cares about that when you're not even gonna see them in the game, while hair options are so limited?

The DD2 CC is also excellent but it does function in a somewhat strange manner: you choose a whole blank slate, but then choose a preset face you have to mold to your liking, but that preset face comes with its own properties that can be adjusted differently and to different extremes than the other faces.
It's just as versatile as the first games CC if not more. The problem is you kind of have to work backwards before you can work forwards and then it all comes together.
heres a tip. pick a preset that you tolerate and micro adjust from there based on what you think are ideal features. look up pics of celebs etc.
@raven75257 I appreciate that 160cm isn't very low for the minimum height, but at least the game actually lets you adjust your character's body at all. In most games, you're just stuck being 6 feet tall with a vaguely athletic build, or sometimes they'll let you pick between three extremely minor variations in height.
Besides, when you go below a certain height, it'd necessitate a change in animations, hitboxes, and cutscenes to accommodate. It obviously could be done, but it'd be a big undertaking.
The lack of hair options is super dumb, though, yeah. The actual hair rendering is also quite lacklustre, even compared to previous R.E. Engine games. Also inexcusable are the lack of facial markings/scars besides freckles and the one or two presets that happen to have something apply to the face. And there's no way to give your character a cleft in their chin, weirdly.

I'm usually not bothered by character creator made freaks but that second character Vinny made is absolutely vile. The scaring makes it look like his right arm has been completely flayed. And the greasy neck oh GOD the greasy neck! It's like a lubed up E.T.

I’m just glad to see Vinny be interested in the game at all. I know Vinny and long ass games dont usually go well together (FFXVI was a cynical time lol) but He made a monstrosity and thats all I wanted to see

@@TrueLadyEvilChanNah it's not miserable, my impression is that for people that (really) liked FF16 Vinny's criticisms of the game come off as grating. But for someone who's mostly indifferent to the game I thought they were perfectly fine streams. Give it a shot, it has the moldy beer bit in it.
@@TrueLadyEvilChan oh no it’s definitely not miserable. He pretty much enjoyed all of the high points of the game. Just don’t expect him to get fully invested into the world and all of its characters.
Vinnys longer play throughs are hard to watch sometimes, because he refuses to read anything, and then spends 30 minutes not understanding what to do because of that

It feels almost weird to see Vinny actually recognize Dragon's Dogma exists, like it wasn't some small game from Capcom
But I stand by the opinion that honestly Vinny would hate DD2, it's just way too sandboxy and hard-core in nature and does not hold your hand
I doubt it's hardcore as, say, a Souls' game, because even this game differentiates from it by not being focused around 1v1 combat.

I hope he gives DD2 a shot, DD1 is one of my all time favorite games. Nothing makes me happier that theres a sequel, than the fact that me and all the others who held out for so long are finally getting our day.
