You know Chris is the real deal. I met him a couple of years ago at Carters Vintage in Nashville. He was trying out some different guitars and singing. It’s rare to find a guy that loves the music like he does and isn’t a stuck up (prick). He is just a regular guy that has written for other artists and also is a killer singer and player. A very tasteful no frills guitar player. I sat down in front of him. He didn’t have his stage clothes on ,just street garb. He asked me if I played and I said yes. He said go grab something and let’s jam and that’s what we did. Chris is one of a kind indeed.
I think that what makes Chris so incredible at whatever he does is that he is a driving force through all 'phases' of creating music and excels at all of them, which alone-- without even talking about his voice or the music itself -- is rare these days.

You should check out some SteelDrivers: If it Hadn't Been for Love or Jompson Brothers: Barely Alive. He was in both bands. The SteelDrivers is a great bluegrass band he was in and the Jompson Brothers was more of a rock band of his!! Love Chris's vocals, but he can play those instruments too!! Have you ever listened to any Bluegrass music? There’s an old band that started in the ‘70s that kind of created a “new” bluegrass called New Grass Revival that were absolutely amazing. John Cowan’s vocals will blow you away.

It’s rare to find a guy that loves the music like he does and isn’t a stuck up (prick). He is just a regular guy that has written for other artists and also is a killer singer and player. A very tasteful no frills guitar player. I sat down in front of him. He didn’t have his stage clothes on ,just street garb. He asked me if I played and I said yes. He said go grab something and let’s jam and that’s what we did. Chris is one of a kind indeed.

I think that what makes Chris so incredible at whatever he does is that he is a driving force through all 'phases' of creating music and excels at all of them, which alone-- without even talking about his voice or the music itself -- is rare these days.
He’s channeling a lot of souls we thought were long dead. But here they are, flowing from one man’s voice.

You should check out some SteelDrivers: If it Hadn't Been for Love or Jompson Brothers: Barely Alive. He was in both bands. The SteelDrivers is a great bluegrass band he was in and the Jompson Brothers was more of a rock band of his!! Love Chris's vocals, but he can play those instruments too!! Have you ever listened to any Bluegrass music? There’s an old band that started in the ‘70s that kind of created a “new” bluegrass called New Grass Revival that were absolutely amazing. John Cowan’s vocals will blow you away.
Don't sleep on the skills of Derek Mixon, his ability to be ON POINT with every subtle shift... it MAKES or BREAKS the performance, and that man's ability to follow and anticipate Stapleton's genius can't be overstated.
This guy is one of the few artist that sings better live than in studio

Watch Chris Stapleton. On some songs he plays a guitar right handed and on others he plays the guitar left handed. Not only is his vocals spot on, but if you can play a guitar with either hand Wow. That is extremely difficult.
